  • One of the motivations for me taking the surgical option over continuing with brace and cortisone shots, was that I was losing strength in the hand and finding it increasing difficult to hang on to the racquet.
As an FYI/background my problem was degenerative arthritis due to a misdiagnosed wrist pain over the course of 6 years. I had torn the ligament that binds the lunate to the scaphoid allowing them to float around and tear up the cartiledge. The joint was ruined and only salvage operations were viable. I've lost about 50% range of motion in all directions but I had already lost over 50% range of motion (before nasty pain) in some directions (pre surgery) and I am starting to regain hand strength.

    Mike
