I was facing a similar situation. Partial fuse has worked okay for me. I am 5 months post op and started playing again after 3 months. Still some pain (expect that to last the entire first year) but no longer have the excruciating pain. I worked with a Dr at Mayo in Rochester to come up with a somewhat non-standard surgery for my situation (usually the recommend surgery is either the 4 corner or proximal row carpectomy)
Thanks, Mike. The excruciating pain doesn't happen anymore unless I try shots that I know will cause it - primarily my old, one-handed topspin backhand. I wear a brace around the house and when sleeping, but don't work in one - would scare the patients.

Since I see no chance of retiring any time soon as a dentist, I won't be taking the risk of having any kind of wrist surgery done. It *does* sound fascinating what they came up with for you, though. Good luck. Kevin
