Do you cut the rest of your strings after playing and breaking your string? Does this prevent warping?

I have strung hundreds of racquets and almost all were brought to me with the broken strings still in. I remove them pretty much as soon as I get a chance even if I'm not stringing it for a day or two. When I remove the string I check the frame and grommets for damage. It doesn't take long to...

    My 8 knot masterpiece

I guess the poly is not flexible enough for a fisherman's knot. Kevlar is soft and flexible and thus would hold most knots. Was just interested that you could get the knots to hold without slipping considering how much tension you pull through them

    My 8 knot masterpiece

You must tie pretty good knots to hold tension at the range you string at. :-D

Why players puff/blow on their fingers?

Blowing on your hand imparts some superhuman strength so you can hit the next ball harder. It only lasts one stroke though so you have to recharge it every point.

Notches on mains vs crosses, which is worse?

I've seen the crosses stretch and pull thin. Not seen crosses notch. The mains slide across the crosses forming notches in themselves. The crosses dont slide up and down the mains and thus do not notch

    Pro's Pro Strings!?

IMO concept is also pretty durable in that it does not notch very quickly and as a bonus is not too stiff. Nice overall string in general. I prefer the smaller gauge though 1.22mm

    Pro's Pro Strings!?

Possibly having a softer poly in the mains with a syn cross just doesn't give anything great. The mains will notch fast and get stuck on syn cross. Then you lose spin and control. Guess it is probably pretty comfortable but there are better setups to give that

How many string manufacturers are there really ?

I wouldn't be surprised if they did try ask for the last recipe but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't get it especially if it is remotely similar to the final product. Why would the company who has done all the research let another company benefit from it?

Low, low tensions. 30lbs feels great. 20lbs pretty good, too

That's what I found with low tensions as well. Full swing was fine as a base liner but the moment I came in (and I play doubles mostly) my touch shots (short angles, slices, drop shots, volleys) all became a lot harder to control with any degree of confidence in what would happen

How many string manufacturers are there really ?

I can believe that most tennis string could be made in a few factories. But each company will have specifications and tolerances for their own brands. These would vary between brands and make for what could be significant differences between strings coming out of the same factory but packaged by...

What's your favorite Poly and Syn Gut hybrid?

How often do you play in those two weeks and singles or doubles? I play almost 95% doubles twice a week and my setup would last about 3 weeks at most. I like the soft touch at net and low angled slices this setup allows me to play. I mostly play net and come on asap and very seldom rally from...

What's your favorite Poly and Syn Gut hybrid?

The PP syn gut mains are not awful. The white and natural colour compare my preference. The other colours seem to come off on the ball and fade. Otherwise play the same. They notch and get stuck out of place pretty quickly within the first hitting session or by second set of doubles. I prefer...

What's your favorite Poly and Syn Gut hybrid?

I am currently using a prince warrior pro 100 racquet. Wilson syn gut mains at 58lbs and rox stiff force poly at 52lbs in crosses. Have also used pros pro syn gut in mains with intense heat crosses 58lbs/48lbs. I find intense heat very stiff compared to a lot of other polys. Prefer wilson syn...

What's your favorite Poly and Syn Gut hybrid?

I used to play poly mains and syn gut crosses. Great durability but once syn gut notches you lose any spin benefits although it playsnfsirly consistent from there. Nothing special. Found full bed poly to be more preferable unless you need a softer cross to save your arm

What's your favorite Poly and Syn Gut hybrid?

I also play syn gut mains and poly crosses most of the time. Doesn't last very long but gives more power without losing too much spin and control. Great for touch volleys
