    Participation rate of tournaments

Did they skip Rio because the precious little petals had security concerns? Based on the pre Rio trend over 80% can be expected to show up in Tokyo.

    Participation rate of tournaments

Definitely the Olympics should be considered a big tournament based on those numbers. A lot of players opted out of going to Rio but aside from that participation by the elite is strong and in an uptrend.

How do tennis players pay their taxes?

Most of them only pay tax in the country where the tournament is played, and make sure of that by having their official residence in a tax haven.

Who will be the next no. 1?

Of course it's mathematically incorrect that Nadal needs to win Wimbledon to be number 1. He could dominate clay, lose early at Wimbledon, then win the Roger's Cup, Cincinatti, USO, Shanghai, Bercy, the WTF and Australian Open and reclaim the number 1 ranking. But how likely is a 33yo who is...

Who will be the next no. 1?

More technology than strategy. Didn't even know it was cut that way until you pointed it out.

Federer's top 10 tournaments since he turned 30.

He did beat 4 top 10 players, something he may never have done before given the seeding system.

Who will be the next no. 1?

Yes but I think he's retired or withdrawn before the start of something like 13 of his last 16 hard court tournaments, and that's an issue that doesn't appear to be going away. If he's a part time hard court player he needs to win Wimbledon to be number 1.

Ronnie OSullivan says Federer would have 40 Slams if it weren't for Rafole

This guy's point does underline the specious nature of GOAT slam tallies. It may well be that Federer would have 25 slams if one of Nadal/Djokovic wasn't around, and 30 if neither were there. Whoever wins the slam count out of the big 3 will be usurped by a great player competing against fewer...

Federer's top 10 tournaments since he turned 30.

Surely AO 17 has to be number 1. Federer had obviously always been a magnificent player, but at what other tournament did he do anything to match beating Nadal after losing the 4th and going down a break in the 5th. Did anyone seriously think he had the will, nerve and resolve to beat Nadal in a...

Who will be the next no. 1?

How does getting less points than Djokovic get Nadal to number 1? He needs to win Wimbledon to reclaim the number 1 ranking, something he hasn't done for 9 years.

Naomi Osaka gets sued by former tennis coach

Parent singular perhaps given the alleged contract is with her father. It could easily be some gold digging by the former coach. How hard is it to draw up a bogus contract to try and extort money?

What's with this new trend that Djokovic doesn't care about Masters anymore?

Djokovic hadn't played a tournament in 6 weeks and probably took time off after the AO. Not surprising he'd lose at Indian Wells that being the case. His ranking is safe for the foreseeable future with neither Nadal nor Zverev (or anyone else )in any position to challenge for #1 before the USO.

Naomi Osaka gets sued by former tennis coach

How does Naomi Osaka not honouring a contract that she never entered into tell us anything about her?

Naomi Osaka gets sued by former tennis coach

It's clear that Naomi doesn't owe any money. It's possible her father does if the contract is legitimate. If he still has no money even with a legitimate contract then the former coach will get 20% of nothing.

Thiem can win FO and USO

He was reasonably dangerous against Nadal at the USO last year losing 7-6 in the 5th. In reality anyone Nadal faces late in a hard court tournament is dangerous because by that stage his body is usually falling apart.
