Almost convinced to abandon Wilson...Quality Control is unbelievable.

i don't know....i tend to chew up my frames pretty quickly trying to dig out low volleys (i'm a S&V). even if my rackets were exact spec when i bought them, they get "head lighter" pretty quickly. i wonder if anybody considers normal wear (grommets getting worn down) when trying to match specs....

    The 89 Dollar Racket Crew!!!!

there are plenty of other brand/specific racket appreciation threads on this board...how about one for those of us who just don't buy anything until they're 2 generations old? So then, what 89 dollar frame are you hitting with? i've got 2 yonex rds 001 mids (and fine rackets they are), but...

    oversize/tweener frame myths

try as i may, i don't (can't). regardless of whether the weight or swing weight is the same as my mid's, i just can't seem to wield OS frames w/ the 1 hander. that being said, i keep wanting to switch to a 2hbh, but for the life of me, i can't get the body mechanics right.

why does a smaller grip = more topspin? or does it?

i was playing a guy at the club who said his smaller grip size helped him generate more topspin. i'm guessing he's wanting to be like nadal. but is this really true? i note, however, that he was complaining of arm pain....from the smaller grip size.

Will there ever be another "classic" racket?

with modern marketing/sponsoring/etc. as it is today, i ask you: will there ever be another "classic." the ps85 was a classic, but mostly b/c sampras refused to give it up (or change the paint job to look like newer frames). POG, prestige, etc., etc. they were all around for a while...

Your ideal racket for a one handed backhand...

yeah...i'm not sure what it is. i don't have that problem with slices, though. just the topspin drive.

    Racquet Warping

yeah, agreed. but at the same time, extended exposure like that will start to mess with your frame after a while.

    Vantage Racquet Company

agreed. customization for rec/club players is a novelty. it's standard for pros, so it's not that big a deal. that being said, how much does vantage "customize?" i think they have a bunch of different weighted frames/heads, and just match that up w/ the grip size and shape that you want...

RDIS vs. RDS vs. RQIS vs. RDX vs. RQ vs. RD

i'd like to see them make a few more 90 inch mids, but with better grommets. they wear out so quick. i ordered some replacements for my rds mids, but they were on back order. since they don't make any more 90 inch frames, it'll probably mean new rackets when my next set wears down.

    Is this bad?

it's not that bad. i don't think it leads to string breakage quite as much as think.

Your ideal racket for a one handed backhand...

I'm not sure what if i have an ideal racket for a 1hbh, but generally, i favor heavy mid frames. for some reason, i don't seem to wield 110's to well on the bh side, even if they're lighter. i'm thinking about switching to 100, though.

    **** Matching

when customizing grips, do they pull your old handle completely off and put a new one on? or just shrink/expand the stock one?

    Exo Racquet Holes?

look up "center of percussion" for a good explanation of sweet spots, generally. that will help you as you think about the effect of racket technology on your sweet spot.
