    In praise of Kevlar/ZX hybrid!!!

The Kevlar is definitely lighter than poly. With the hybrid, I had to add weight to my racquets to get them back to the same specs I had with a poly syn gut hybrid.

    In praise of Kevlar/ZX hybrid!!!

Depends on the string bed. When I was using 2015 Blade 104’s with a tighter 18 x 19 pattern, I found my ideal tensions to be 57 lbs x 50 lbs. When I shifted to a significantly more open pattern Prince Tour 98 ESP 16 x 16 pattern I needed to up the Kevlar tension quite a bit to manage power...

    In praise of Kevlar/ZX hybrid!!!

Not everyone, but it is recommended. I use 15% machine pre stretch on both the Kevlar and Zyex and let the machine continuously pull the Zyex until it settles in on the cross strings (usually a 30 to 40 second process after the initial tension is reached/machine beep) Others swear by...

How to pre-stretch Ashaway Monogut ZX or ZX Pro

For what it’s worth, I use 15% machine pre stretch on my crosses with ZX and let the machine continue to pull until the tension settles a bit before clamping. Normally this is a 30 to 40 second process waiting for the tension to settle. I also use the 16g ZX and use only 15 feet of it to...

    In praise of Kevlar/ZX hybrid!!!

Settling in on 68 lbs x 48 lbs in my Prince Tour 98 ESP’s. After some some experiments, this has been my favorite tension setup the past few months. At least until the next experiment.

Counter - Shock (eliminating vibration to arm?)

Not really, just prefer heavier racquets. Played with the PK Ki5 PSE for a while and eventually modified future racquets to those specs. Through additions of head tape, leather grips, string experiments, and other tweaking ended up at 380 grams and loved the feel and have since modified future...

Counter - Shock (eliminating vibration to arm?)

I have not weighed them separately so I can not provide that number for you. You place counter shocks at the balance point so it does not throw off the balance of your racquet. I still use a vibration dampener, but I am not as concearned with overall weight as I my racquets are at 380 grams.

    In praise of Kevlar/ZX hybrid!!!

First hit with the 68 x 48 lbs went well. Not a drastic difference in performance than the 68 x 50 lbs, but a bit softer feel with maybe a tad more power. Will have to see how it goes for the next few weeks to see if I like it better. Since switching to the Kevlar / Zyex hybrid a few years...

    In praise of Kevlar/ZX hybrid!!!

I have been enjoying 68 x 50 lbs for a few months now and it has replaced my go to 64 x 52 lbs as my baseline set up in my Prince Tour 98 ESP’s. Probably going to experiment a little bit more when I string up one this afternoon as I am thinking of dropping the ZX tension down a few pounds. My...

    In praise of Kevlar/ZX hybrid!!!

I am running Prince Tour 98 ESP’s weighted up to 380 grams / 10 pts HL. Lots of lead at 3/9 and 12 with leather grip and BluTack in the handle with the Kev/ZX hybrid and loving it as well. I am running 16g on both strings to combat the string eating 16 x 16 pattern and have recently been...

Which bag between the Tecnifibre Endurance Pro XL Rackpack and the 15 Racquet bag would you recommend for me?

4 rackets in one of the side main pockets. The other side main compartment has 3 of the small Technifibre bags in there along with an ERC 300 string meter. In those small bags I store sunglasses(3 pair), winter gloves, 30 pack of over-grips, 3 packs of head protection tape, spare dampeners...

Which bag between the Tecnifibre Endurance Pro XL Rackpack and the 15 Racquet bag would you recommend for me?

Definitely the 15 pack. Bought the rack pack non XL version and was a bit disappointed with the limited space. The XL is not much bigger dimension wise, but still would not be big enough for what I normally like to carry. Went back to my trusty 15 pack even though I only carry 4 rackets.

How .Do You Label Your Racquets ?

I use small round stickers that I write the tension and date strung, I then placed inside the throat near the grip. All four of my racquets are modified identically so, to me, I do need need to tell them apart, but you could use different colored stickers if you are trying to differtiate one...

    In praise of Kevlar/ZX hybrid!!!

Synthetic gut is not Zyex. Zyex has some unique properties that make it work extremely well with the Kevlar. I have never had a locked stringbed since I switched to the Kevlar/ZX hybrid even after 100 hours of court time.

    In praise of Kevlar/ZX hybrid!!!

:-D I did my tour of polys and hybrids a few years ago, once I tried Kev/ZX I have never looked back. For me, this hybrid has the best mix of comfort, performance, and durability of any string set up I have tried.
