When does spring season start for you?

We have to have the rosters with at least 8 players registered by Feb. 8. We have about 18-20 teams at the adult 3.5 level ( There will be two divisions) so our season is likely to begin the last Saturday of Feb or the first of March. Either way, it'll be cold and windy for a few matches.

Do your tournament wins count towards your end of year rating??

They didn't count last year for the first time and they continued it this year. I'm not if you play only tourneys but I suspect they simply don't want to use them. They felt there was too much abuse of the results in the tourneys, so I'm told.

To Bend or Not to Bend?

Your analogy is BS. I'm not a stickler, I just play the game according to the rules. You, on the other hand, are play a game with tennis balls and rackets but it isn't tennis. Not sure what it is. Perhaps you common sense will allow you to give it a name and you can then write your own...

To Bend or Not to Bend?

It is accepted at the Saturday morning social, sometimes. Nope, I think we are talking about the Rules of Tennis, to which USTA adheres. Please provide us a source of why the rule was "invented". Everyone I know is under the correct impression that the ball is in play until it lands...

To Bend or Not to Bend?

I don't want my opponent giving me anything. I play by the rules and expect the opponent to do so as well. IMO, it's a bit like gimmie putts in golf when the 6" gimmie becomes the 3' gimmie and then the 5' gimmie. Gimmie me break. Play by the rules, putt the da=n thing. SAme thing in tennis...

To Bend or Not to Bend?

The problem is that when you begin to overlook the rules as written, there is never an end to it. From the responses, it appears that some adhere to the rules and play the game as it was intended and others do not. No big deal unless they are playing each other.

    Middle Age Depression and Unhappiness

Naw. You've sort of missed my point. IMO, the main cause of unhappiness is self-centeredness. It creates too much insecurity in that we can never really fill the needs. Other-centeredness is key to happiness, again IMO. Doing for others and not expecting recognition in return. Mother...
