i think your coach is doing the right thing. changing from full western to anything less is very difficult as the kid gets older. I myself know that feeling.

my point was to wait until 14 to make the decision to dump more money into it or not. Otherwise you can save a bit of money from 7-14. im just generalizing..btw. ps... i would never take the chance and spend 10-20k a year on a 7-13 yearold. nope...but thats my opinion.

I'd wait until he's 14 to determine if he's gifted or not..... but if you truly feel that way than go for it. Just be aware of the reality and be truthful to yourself.
