Botnic the only player in the top 10 without a title

Milos Botnic is currently the only player in the top 10 not holding a single ATP title (even Berdych holds one). World No. 3!!!!!

Any idea when was the last time we had a guy going into a slam seeded no. 3 without holding a single title?

He's actually had quite a few niggling injuries over the last year and still is number 3 in the world.

Auditioning for the role as Excusiquem's apprentice???
Where @veroniquem? should be basking in the Zverev and Djokovic vibes.:D

Just the facts on RaoMug as I see them. The guy was held back. Everyone is just asking to have their spirits crushed when the guy is healthy for a season. With luck RaoMug and BerdDitch will have plenty of injuries in 2017, but rumors of their demise have been greatly exaggerated.

Hey, didn't he win Brisbane 2016? He has 8 titles.

OP says "no. 3 without holding a single title". It means Milos doesn't have a single title like Mr or Ms.

Maybe some of you are being facetious, but "holding" a title means you are the last person to win that title. Raonic lost the Brisbane title when Dimitrov won the final.

Federer, for example, is currently holding 0 titles because he didn't win anything in the last 52+ weeks.

Of course his ranking is 16, while Milos' is 3...

That's not a nice thing to say Meles. :(

Yeah, he's a joke

Meanwhile, Fed is the only top 20 player who's not played any final in the last year. Ozzy Open '17 champ guaranteed

OH MY GOD YOU PREDICTED IT

:D:D

Thread bump. We can now add Nishikori to this list. Two players in the Top 5 now without holding any title. The ultimate definition of a strong era.:eek::eek:

Wow, Nishikori too — I am disappoint.

Ranked Number 3 because he made the semi finals or better in pretty much every tourney he entered. Call it a quirk of the ranking system if you want, but I'm not so sure. He is simply very, very consistent and playing up to his ranking perfectly. He really only plays big tournaments, and he almost always goes deep. How many 250's did he enter in 2016? And as @Meles said, he achieved this despite injury setbacks.

I feel he should be defended and I like his game but realise many people don't like his playing style.

He entered two 250s, winning one and losing 2R (first match) in the other. He is the anti-Thiem.

You are a bit off on the first paragraph...of the 18 tournaments he entered in '16, he failed to reach SFs in exactly half of them. He got to #3 by peaking in '16 and the failure of the Swiss dynamic duo and the Mallorcan mudder to maintain their '15 points production, the aging of the Spanish Terrier and the utter mediocrity of a few like BerdPoo, Treesner and the French Failing Legion.

Raonic, Nishikori and Goffin currently hold no ATP titles.

Not surprising. They are the worst generation for a reason.

Raonic attempting to vulture a title in Delray, but for Delpo.

Bit surprised that Goffin hasn't won a title since 2014. For a guy of his ability and recent form that looks like underachievement. He's getting to finals but can't convert any. Maybe he needs a new coach and fitness trainer to toughen him up mentally and physically (I know he's on the small side but look what another smallish Daveed was able to do until quite recently)?

The other Daveed is short but built like Michelangelo's David. I asked GoGo Boy once if I could borrow his left arm to slim Jim my car window after I left the keys in the ignition...it worked.

Headwear inspired by Beau Geste; playing style never very popular with the Gallic crowd.

Denigration will cease with the end of the slam title drought...coming up on 34 AYN now. Only Tsonga, Clement and Pioline came close with four runner ups total in 33 plus years.

My memory has failed me. He seemed far more consistent than that. Point taken, he has capitalised on Fed / Nadal's misfortune in 2016. Lol @ Treesner moniker - another favourite of mine that is not beloved on TT. Does Treesner cede his No. 1 American spot to Jack Sock at the end of 2017?

Sock rocks and rolls to US #1 but will have company up there in the higher elevations from Sequopelka by YE '18.
