Would you pay 100K for tennis clinic with Roger Federer?

It looks like that's the cost of taking part in a clinic with Roger Federer at a local tennis club in Seattle before his charity match with Isner.

What's he doing playing exho's when he should be practicing getting ready to take Madrid or something. Field is really weak atm and he can go deep easily if need be.

on topic: yes if I was billionaire.

As the others have said, only if I was rich and I considered $100,000 chump change. I'd much rather spend that money on something like hanging out in the hood with 50 Cent for the day:D

Would be cool if it was a private lesson with him and he hooked you up with a whole lot of Nike stuff.

It's not an exhibition, it's a match for charity. At this point, Federer's just doing what he wants to do tennis-wise and he'd rather give back than chase points.

He can do all that when he's in his 40s. Right now he's playing terrific tennis and the field is really weak and strong draws vanishing. I don't get why he needs 7-10 weeks rest, shouldn't a couple be enough to be fully fit again? There's a big gap between Madrid to RG so could be easy points as I'd expect minimum SF-F.

Maybe he thinks he will get burned out seeing as he's playing a full grass schedule?

If you're at a point where you have enough money not to care about it and are a Federer fan, sure why not? However, from a purely amateur/tennis perspective, I strongly doubt a "Federer" clinic would do anything on an amateur's game. For starters, who knows if Federer is any good as a coach? Great players aren't always great coaches. And then, what is he really going to teach you in a single session that you can master instantly? Probably nothing.

He's been playing professionally for 19 years, I'm pretty sure he knows his body, schedule and skill level far better than you do. He's also got a wife and 4 kids that he doesn't get to spend time with as often as he likes and by all accounts, he's a very active, involved dad. He's content to play when he's able to at 100% at the major tournaments of his choosing and that smart strategy has him leading the points race. How are you such an arse that you resent him playing a little hit-and-giggle tennis to raise millions for charity while he's in a the middle of a lull in his schedule? Do you think those in need now can just wait 5 or 8 years?

I'm sure Federer is devastated that his actions don't meet the standards to satisfy KINGROGER of the mighty Talk Tennis internet forum

If you have that kind of money to throw around you can easily talk with Federer at a social gathering.

Alright calm down. I don't resent it just a shame we won't get to see his 2017 game on clay courts where he could do very well imo. He may yet play RG so we will see.

As for the last part - fair enough.

would be a waste of money. the majority of pros including roger wouldn't be able to break down what makes them so great. if you asked them.
Good point. As to the question; not even if it was someone else's money would I pay that sum. I think it would be an absolute waste of money cos you're not going to leave that session any better than when you walked in. To get better,it's all about practice and working hard. Oh, I just remembered, a few years ago a British guy paid 1000 dollars to hit with Sampras at the U.S. Open, I think they actually played a few games or a set

Now that would mean a lot of cash down the drain, if I ever were to pay that (which I won't), as I have absolutely no talent at tennis at all.

Hard to know which is sillier, the clinic or the exhibition match. Gee, I wonder if they'll split the first two sets??

No worries. I just really hope he gets YE#1 to tie Sampras aged 36 and would like to see his game on clay. But as you said, Federer knows himself best!

In 2007 or 2008, Sheldon Adelson made so much money by taking Las Vegas Sands public that it amounted to around $3,000,000 per hour assuming a 40 hour work week.
If I was that rich, why not.

Important question. Is the 100k going to charity (after all he is in Seattle for the charity match)? That completely changes the question if it is.

I know a broker who paid $50000 and Concorde seat for McEnroe to hit with some juniors
When I turned up at the club all that was left of McEnroe was his signature on a six foot poster of him
Taking into account inflation Federer is cheap

It's not only the grass, it's the HC season which follows, maybe he feels that by skipping the clay he will be able to play Masters such as Toronto and Paris which he otherwise wouldn't be able to play, and he has a bigger shot of winning those events than Madrid or RG.

Yes, it's going to charity. The entire Match for Africa series is all for charity. Why would Roger Federer, who makes $60+ million a year, be charging that much to fans for some informal tennis clinics? It's a glorified meet-and-greet.
