Hard to say, strings are not the same. New racquet feels softer and more meneuverable, but again, strings are different, weight is less and ballance more HH. Will measure the flex tomorrow.

Hit with it more today. My local rep has received 2 demo racquets. I convinced him to sell me one right away. I will measure flex and SW tomorrow on RDC and report.

But what is that string ?? It's definitely a Yonex string I haven't seen before. The lettering on string say PT??125.
Anyone can shine any light on this. It looks similar to ALU

The only reference I could find to it was the String Recommendation for the Ezone 98a on Yonex.com
There's no description of it anywhere else on the Yonex website.
Does anybody know anything about this string?

You're pretty much correct. It's full of USPTA Teaching Pros. USPTA level 1,2 and Master Instructors. Former and current college players from D1,2 and 3 schools. High School and College coaches. And a handful of weekend warriors. It's a very competitive league. I'm a solid 4.5 singles player who has a modest 500 record every season. And I can honestly say that the guys in the video wouldn't be able to hang with us here in our league. It's a little tougher in the PA,DE,NJ area. I was out in San Diego a few years ago visiting a friend of mine for a week. He took me to some park near La Jolla High School and introduced me to a couple of 5.0's. I was hitting with these guys and getting the best of them. I remember thinking that the rating system must be very different out there because I don't think they would have done very well in our league either. As a matter of fact, there was a guy out there named Dave Lang who won a 5.0 tournament. I beat him 6-4 6-2. And remember... I'm a 4.5. So what does that tell you? I'm not making fun of the guys in the video. I wouldn't do that. I'm just calling it like I see it. That's all.

No probs... it's great to hear you have such a good and competitive league and environment around you... I always prefer to compete against people that are better, that way I will improve... not sure how they feel about it...

Measured my Ezone 98 on RDC today and I get RA63 and SW314 strung.

SW314?! Are you sure you didn't measure the pink version?
Other racquet is strung with nat gut/poly hybrid and measured even less. SW311.

Could it be that she has grown tired of her heavy RF97 and enjoying the greater racquet-head speed of a lighter frame??
nah, it's just marketing. TW is trying to push sales of the new EZONEs, so of course they will raise awareness and praise the new frames

Had a chance to wall hit both the ezone 98 and 100 today for about 5 mins each at my stringers and I am impressed with both! They were strung with yptp yellow. The 100 does not feel bulky at all. The 98 feels familiar and more whippy than previous versions. Love the squarer shape. Now to decide which one ;-) Can't wait to test them on court!

Like any business, they have an inventory which they need to get rid of. They are "Racquet Brokers". They want you to buy Stock so they can make their Commissions. For that reason, they will never tell you not to buy a particular racquet and why their reviews are always Great-Good which should be translated to Good-Bad. It's like talking to your Wife; you have to always "Interpret" what she says
)Perhaps we should come up with a TW Reviews "Dictionary" !!
Eg: "Right in my Wheel House" = I was able to hit the ball consistently over the net. Nothing more than that!

Most of my friends generated pain on the wrist area. It felt very cumbersome and heavy on serves. Personally i found it too powerful and had issues on controlling the ball on approach shots and lifting low balls. I only loved it on the 1HB and of course the paintjob. I found it a bad stick not even mediocre or not of my cup of tea. The previous one plays a lot more straightforward.

Can't wait to test both of them more, some lucky guys already have in the yonex threads. I will say that yonex although they have marketing like anyone else, they really do improve their lines, love the Japanese quality! big improvements from Ai to Dr and now with the new ezones from what I have briefly seen..

Has anyone noticed the "Swing Speed" category change of the racquet specifications for the new Ezone vs the DR as shown by TW, for both the 98 and 100 ??
The New Ezone now shows it to be "Medium-Fast" whereas the DR had it as "Fast".
With lower SW for the New Ezone, where's the logic behind this ?? (or am I not understanding the definition of the term?)

A bit more on the grommet system (from what I can see from pictures provided by TW) :
1) Looks like grommet size at 3 and 9 are same size as before but beyond are bigger, loosening up the string bed beyond the sweet spot and thus expanding it [In my opinion, this should significantly loosen up the string bed, making it a lot more forgiving and comfortable to play with and dare I say, also provide room for more spin].
2) The cross-string system is "Uni-directional" which means crosses can only be started from one side only [beware stringers when setting up in the machine].

Yes, similar to the Pure Aero, perhaps more akin to their FSI technology rather than the Woofer system.
Similar to what Yonex is proposing, FSI provides a higher sweet spot for more leverage to hit deeper balls, with a tighter string pattern for more directional control.

Not sure why they don't have a 325 g version besides the 285 g. Wilson makes a lot of money with the RF97, the Duel G 330 can't be selling that badly either. The DR98 wasn't the most stable racquet to begin with not sure why they decided to remove the weight mostly from the hoop.

I think we are saying the same thing: I wish they had made it 5-10g heavier, while conserving the same flex, rather than 5g lighter and a bit more stiff. People wishing a lighter / stiffer racquet could always go to the Ezone 100. Now, one will have to add substantial amount of lead and change their strings set-up to have more of a player's frame. I don't mind a bit of customising, but it might now require too much of it. Glad I bought a second DR 98 recently.

I can't believe that TW even came out and said that in their overview of the frame. That wasn't good for business.
But I guess it's nice to know that they're being honest.

In my opinion, adding too much lead changes the feel of the racquet (besides SW), ideally there shouldn't be a need to have more than 2 g in a single position (should only be used for tuning). The lead doesn't have any rigidity and cannot be compared to the same weight that is part of the racquet structure itself. At least that's how I feel about it.

You're not wrong. Adding lead tape will reduce the distortion of the hoop while striking the ball. How much of that marginal increase you'll be able to feel really depends on the stiffness of the hoop in stock form.
