Last week I picked up a Dunlop 200G (nearly new condition with full cover) and a slightly scuffed up Head Vilas in one stop for around $7 total.
Today I found a dirty but decent Dunlop MaxPly for $1.50!
I hope tomorrow it stops raining long enough for me to try 'em out.

Loving the chalet vibe of the Swiss Inn in the least Swiss surroundings possible! Not an incline to be seen!

Wilson n code six one tour 90. Once the minging collection of overgrips were peeled off, the original leather grip was in a decent condition. It’s 16x19 but it doesn’t have that stencilled on the throat like others I’ve seen. Filthy great big crack up at 1 o clock and the hoop has some serious weathering on it though. Still, at £8 it's a good deal and potentially still playable.

I had an idle look around the place across the road, which turned up a couple of Slazenger protoges but nothing of real interest until I noticed a dark blue tournagrip behind some ironing boards...

Head graphene radical mp. Pricey for a charity shop at £25 but still quite the steal. Or so I thought until I noticed the previous owner had inflicted not one but two death cracks at 5 and 10. At least he was symmetrical, I suppose...

I was going to leave it but then noticed something on the throat

and then I took a little look at what lay underneath the bumper

Thoughtfully I weighed the racket in my hand and it was clearly significantly heavier than its listed 295g (I've since had a quick look under the buttcap and it is chock full of silicon - it comes in at a punchy 355g all in). Strung with big banger "alu power"?

So I duly snapped it up. I know this question has been asked hundreds of times before but how can I find out more about this racket? The sticker suggests pro stock (G104501), as do the lead and silicon. The thin yoke is consistent with photos I've seen of other graphene radicals so I'm not sure this is just a paintjob of another racket (crushing my dreams of a PT57A!).

Yeah, the Swiss Inn is soon to be renamed the Palmer Inn and Tennis Center.
Nice facility though. 6 pristine green Har-Tru clay courts, with powerful lights, a pro shop, and a very nice pool.

You have a Pro Stock Graphene Radical. Nice that the player gave it away for charity....

Played with it for an hour and a half tonight until crack no1 began to spread and the frame started to go somewhat tectonic. A glorious hit, one that will live long in the memory. Effortless power. Think I even managed to get the ball in the court once or twice.

Alu power mains and Wilson synthetic crosses. Three layers of lead under the bumper from 2 to 10 and the handle chock full of silicon.

You were quite right about it being pro stock...

Now retired before the whole thing falls apart.

Racking my brains as to whose racket it could be. Did have a moment thinking it could be Ivo's until I realised it's not a size 9 grip...

Got Wilson sting 2 for $1, grip needs to be replaced. Did not buy Head edge and Prince magnesium series pro 90, they were in bad shape.

I've got new Dunlop Biomimetic 500 for nothing. The charity shop owner just wanted to get rid of it, so I gladly took it.

Found two new old stock Donnay rackets today. One is a "Scorer" and the other is a "Volleyer." $6.99 each.
I know they're probably budget rackets, but they're beautiful and they still have the tags on them!

At $3 this will make for an inexpensive morning or afternoon. I’ve previously owned the POG 125, Magnesium 125 and now I have the Precision 125. Feels wonderfully weighty and solid in the hand. I cleaned the crud covered grip and wiped it down. Time to revel in trampoline effect combined with plow through.

Here are the two NOS Donnay racquets I picked up this week.
One is a Volleyer, and the other is the Scorer...nope, I hadn't heard of them either.
Also the Scorer was on sale for $14.75. I think their original retail price was $29.95.
I also included pics of "Your Choice" "My Choice" on the frame...I always did "M or W" or "Up or Down." :)

Scored a decent Head Graphite Director, 18x21, 12.8oz, 26&7/8"L, one piece stringing. No other markings on the racket other than what is seen. Butt cap says made in USA. Has grip size sticker on shaft, 4 1/2. $2.18 out the door. If anyone has any other info on this particular model vs the other versions I would like to know more. I read the TT threads on Head Graphite Directors but didn't see anything on this "naked" model. No specs or printed on this racket anywhere.

I have one of those in much rougher condition...string strip/grommets busted all to heck. Actually took it from my B-I-L and gave him a Comp Director so I wouldn't have to string it and make the necessary repairs. A new string strip and it would be good to go. Heavy sucker, that's for sure! Yours looks great!

Edit...Am I remembering that one-piece stringing should have been ATW ?

Great score on the HGD! Fabulous weapon. In my 20's, I made many a poacher pay with a wicked 2 handed backhand to the hip bone during "social" doubles on the weekends. Ah memories.

Any idea on how to repair or make a new string strip? After looking at some other vintage graphites on the auction site it appears this is a common issue.
Other than individual grommets, string strip replacement/repair has been a bugaboo since string strips were invented!
You could write your own ticket to the Tennis Hall of Fame if you were able to solve that problem once and for all!
Maybe someone with a 3-D printer could come up with something ??????????

Those crazy Heads!

From L-R: Head Arthur Ashe Competition 3, Head Legend, Head Graphite Director.

I got the Arthur Ashe and the Director at Goodwill, but got the Legend off the Auction site. I've taken the Comp 3 for a hit, plays like a noodle. Can't wait to take the other two for a hit.
