How do you guys check the calibration of your lock out stringer? I used to loop a string to one end of my digital fishing scale so that it forms a Y shape. I used 2 fixed clamps on the stringer to clamp down the 2 Y ends of the same string on one side of the fishing scale. On the other end, I loop a string through the hole and tension this piece of looped string and take the reading off the scale. This method seems to give much lower tension reading. For example, the setting on the lock out is set to 66lb. However, the reading from this calibration will give something like 56lbs. I later have the fishing scale hook on to a fixture on one end of the stringer and the other end, I tie a string to the other end of the fishing scale and pull that one piece string. The reading on the latter is much closer on the setting from the stringer than the 1st way I was doing. If stringer setting is on 54lbs, reading is something like 56lbs. So I am curious if my 2nd way of calibrating the machine is correct. I also found the following way of calibrating from another forum which seems reasonable thing to do as well.
"Mount a racquet on your stringing machine. On the end that has the middle of the frame (some frames its top, others are bottom) thread the string through one of the middle holes, and in turn, through the other. You should have two strings at this end now. Use your flying clamp and clamp these two strings together (do it securely). Now, tension the other end of the callibrator. it should give you a pretty accurate reading, but also bear this in mind."
Irvin, is this something you can add to your video collection by making a video? I learned so much by watching your stringing videos.
