This school bus yellow crap was better than 90% of new strings out there. $2/set first gen trash poly better than Hyper G and Tour Bite put together.

Is it Kirschbaum Spikey Shark? That stuff was popular with some D1 college teams I heard of. Smash was popular for a while, but I don't think it is that, because honey is shiney.

As a Hyper G user I feel personally attacked by this

In all seriousness, I don't have nearly enough RHS to break polys one hour in. But I am super cheap and they usually last about 15 hours until they finally snap, which means I am spending a lot of time playing with strings that are long past their expiration date. They are all garbage at that point, but Hyper G stays somewhat playable the longest. The last third or so is absolutely miserable though.

Strung up ALU power in my racquet. Absolutely loved it, how would you compare it to alu power rough?
Also I'm only about 1 hour into alu power. Hows the durability for a non string breaker Jolly?

Be careful of your arm. I got tennis elbow with using Alu in mains with gut in crosses.

I came from using babolat rpm blast 15 and was using bbo. Rpm was very rough on my arm, bbo was fine.

Ever used a full bed of ALU? I absolutely love the pop and feel I get it. I really can feel the "pop" in my stringbed and it's just a clean satisfying feeling, love it. Also what racquet and tension?

Just wondering how it lasts, ive heard alot of people saying its the worst durability etc etc but people also say it holds tension well. In my mind it doesn't really make sense

Anyway I also ended up trying big banger rough for 30 mins too and liked it alot.

Was just wondering if I could get more opinions though

OGSM isn’t a multi, it’s a syn gut. Slight difference in that syn guts are a little more firm and tend to be more durable.

Black Widow is really soft and has poor tension maintenance. Unless you aren’t sensitive to that, or string for yourself, there are better poly options out there.

Love polytour pro. Soft, good tension maintenance and from my hour with alu it's somewhat comparable/similar

Poly tour strike reminds me alot of rpm blast team, that stiff feel is similar but it's round so i'd say it'd be good in a hybrid

I don't like either of them.

I like NRG2 as a multi to hybrid but it's not cheap.

Syngut is all the same to me in a hybrid.

I don't understand the question. If you don't break string you won't break ALU.

I mean how's the playability duration? For a non string breaker how long does it last before going dead/losing it's great playability? I've heard some people say it goes dead and loses tension in 2 hours etc etc

Thanks

Gotcha. The first little while is magical but right up until it breaks it's still better than most anything else out there.

Then there are quite a few I like better.

RPM Blast for starters.

J
V cyclone is better than blast (more pocketing) regardless of price.

J ignored my 2nd question, but a round p X with a shaped main is magic. I like tourna zone personally but many others are good options.

I didn't know what you meant by p/p, thought it was a brand.

And others?

Btw which ghostwire can you link me
I’m gonna take some heat from the Velocity lovers but I don’t think it’s that great and not as poly-like as people claim. I actually prefer PPS. The v-torque tour is a nice soft string also but it’s shaped and twisted so provides more spin higher launch angle. I actually have a half set left and may try it as mains with GhostWire crosses.

i agree that theres a pretty huge gap between revolve and velocity. and velocity is noticeably more springy than any poly ive ever used.

I want to try the velocity instead of my revolve as a slick cross for my volkl v torque tour mains, for better comfort.
But this does not sound promising lol

correct. but the point is some ppl equate it with poly-like performance and im agreeing w josh that it doesnt/isnt
Probably only 5% (I have no scientific proof) poly performance due to slick coating. Otherwise, not close. Better crosses out there.

@jo11yroger have you used signum pro poly plasma and if so could you give us feedback? I found it by accident in a hybrid setup on a used racquet that I traded for and absolutely loved it but not sure if it’s the frame or the string...its super cheap too

It's traffic cone orange, you can't miss it. Sometimes it's white too but the orange plays better. Like @Doubles said, super consistent but nothing extra.

Hey @J011yroger - question for you sir. I have a friend that's looking for a crisper poly (but not jarring). He likes Hyper-G but finds it too muted... wants something with a bit more feel to it. I was thinking suggesting cyclone or black widow, but thought I'd ask you for suggestions as I only know of softer setups. Would a silver string fall in that category, tourna big hitter silver or a kirschbaum?

Cheers!
