If Rafa had not done so much of overacting, ppl were more likely to buy their claims of seriousness. They need to cut down Rafa's payment so that he doesn't do overacting he efforts to justify his payout.

Why is Fed even playing after the embarrassment to Dimitrov at the U.S.? Shouldn't he be resting his back?

This event charges more than the U.S. Open.
$350 for an upper level cheap seat.
Thanks Roger!

Have you checked the prices during the US Open and not before? And also in the late rounds. I remember them to be around the same number.
Also, Switzerland in general is a very expensive country.

It’s an exo, so I don’t watch more than the highlights. Last year’s edition was horrible with Fed and Djoker feigning amiability. I do enjoy Fed-Rafa in doubles, however. Laver Cup without Rafa in the mix isn’t as intriguing.

It is a silly exhibition and I almost find the entire concept and phony team designations offensive. I could possibly understand Stanimal and Fed grouped together vs Russians like Med and Rublev. But we are supposed to believe that there is some kind of connection and friendship between a player from Spain (Rafa) and a player from Switzerland (Fed) taking on the rest of "Team World". Supposed to believe Kyrgios has some type of bond with Isner and Sock. Not buying it. They are there for the $$$ or getaway or whatever.

It has nowhere near the drama and intensity of a 5 round legitimate tournament. Also annoying is that the match everyone really wants to see, Fed vs Rafa (even an exhibition) does not happen.
Spot on. It is an absurd concept.

I enjoy it for all the non tennis stuff, the guys hanging out, the talks at sitdowns, etc. It's a social media marvel for me.

I have minimal interest in watching the actual tennis.

Just watched these highlights. They don't even play 3 sets. 10 point tiebreaker. What the hell?!
And what is the point of Mac and Borg sitting on the sidelines. As if they're going to have any input on how Fed and Kyrgios play.

This whole event is taking people for a ride.

It reminds me a bit of Rocky 3. Rocky has that match with Hulk Hogan. All pantomine. Meanwhile BA Baracus is fighting hard in clubs to get his shot.

Similarly Medvedev is in some outpost in Russia at the moment making yet another final. BA knocked Rocky out. I see Medvedev knocking these Laver Cup guys out in coming events and setting him up nicely for Majors in 2020

I do enjoy LC. The aesthetics are amazing (looks like an old black and white film with color added for the shirts). Also, the team format is fun because you get to see some matchups you wouldn't normally see. I'm for keeping this once a year format for sure.

These guys are horrible actors.

It’s funny that they had Nadal injured because Europe needed to lose his doubles and singles matches. They also injured out Kyrgios because ATP doesn’t want him to be a hero before they suspended him.

I’d put $10 million on Raonic beating Zverev in the final match to give World the win

For my Middle School science project in my 'Melesian Math and Lewisian Statistics 101' course, I want to know - in poll form - what TTW's majority opinion is on the Laver Cup.

It is a divisive topic so I want a poll to get some data.

Feel free to use this thread for arguing, since I know asking for civility is a futile exercise.
Their acting job is so good, that this is semi fun to watch. these guys should try the acting career when tennis career is over with

I am just wondering do fans cheer for name of team that represents their place of living, or players that they usually support.
If American loves Federer, will he cheer for Team World or Federer ?

They don't care, I want Fed to win but want world to win, but not from I am from Canada, but cause I want to see the other side win for once. The Europe crowd cheers for the other side at times too.

It is completely fixed. It is scripted. It is also completely unbalanced.
It sucks. Waste of time and money. Expect top players to stop playing it and for this format to die on it's own.

I mean at least let's have a good show. Many of the best players outside of Europe are not even playing. Looks at the rankings - it's not a fair competition. Just tells you tennis so heavily Europe dominated.
Let's have some other format.

Well we didn’t need LC to tell us Europe are the kings of tennis

I get why you might think it's fixed. There's a chance maybe it is, but I'm skeptical. So many variables in tennis that fixing would be tough. There's a reason match fixing in tennis is low. To fix 3 days of matches would require quite the involvement of too many people, in my opinion.
I mean, does it go like "Roanic, I'll get it to 40-30 then you hit your forehand into the tape, OK"? I'm skeptical.

Well,it's entertaining but that's it. No different from an exhibition. Maybe the problem is with 'Team World'. They represent me,but I feel no connection to them at all and couldn't care less whether they win or not...

CONS:
I loathe that they count LC stats for head-2-head records, and will be even more upset if players can earn ranking points here.
It's a small point, but I don't care for the look of the court...and the team designations are kind of forced...though how else would you divide the teams?
