Anyone ever hit with the donnay pro one oversize? Orange grey or yellow blue? I never did but wonder how it compares to POG oversize.
ive met her at the local challenger’s event our club hosts. fantastic tennis player and yes, everybody was asking about the POG!A pro that uses the POG!
ive hit with an original and reissue. the original (trisys 260) plays a lot like a POG, but the grip is the old school head type. the string pattern is tighter on the radical so you get lower launch angle. the reissue is a little less demanding and has a bit more pop, but still quite heavy compared to most other stuff.Or to the yellow black head radical 107.

Great suggestions, thanks! Never thought about automotive polish and wax.Treat your tennis equipment like you would a cherished car. The first and most important thing is to always keep your frames clean, so wipe the sweat and court dust off after every use. A very mild, high quality automotive polish followed by a wax can make these old glossy frames look really good and protect them. Just don't over do it and rub hard or use a cheap abrasive cleaner/wax since unlike a car the clear finish is very thin (if there even is one). Non gloss frames are a whole other matter.
I never thought i read this on a tennis forum. I m myself more concerned about the corona and if i m able to play tennis again at all this year! Maybe i just hit some balls with an old racquet against a oneven wall just to feel what is was like 1.5 month ago.Great suggestions, thanks! Never thought about automotive polish and wax.
Will definitely give that a try.
Recently tried treating the leather gripds as well after watching YouTube videos on reviving old leather shoes lol!!

Hi, I have a 2 POG OS. One is 4 & the other is 4.5. I want to purchase the grommet from TW. Would the grommet fit my POG OS? Or the grommet would only fit the current Tour version? Appreciate your kind input.
Thanks for the input. Good to know that they'll fit. They will fit no problem.
Is there a way to tell where a POG OS was made? I just got a 4 stripe; Oversize in gold at top; Graphite Oversize in Green on both sides of shaft. Gold Hologram sticker with a number on it. Prince patent 1987 statement on inside of throat. No mention of tension or country where it was made. It is a snick longer than my current version 107 and is pretty close in weight and balance. All black buttcap with raised P. Marked a size 4 but sure feels like a 3 to me.
I like thin beam OS racquets and absolutly agree POG is great playing racquet still today. I've got a dozen all of which are 4-stripes and earlier versions and love the nicely flexed feel over the years. One thing to add, I can't determine which racquet I play my best with, ProStaff Largehead, Ultra2 Lagehead, or POG OS. All of them are equally great frames. The Prince Original Graphites (POGs) are great playing rackets and many of the greats have played them. I used most of them at various times and the last version that I really like and played for years of tournaments was the Michael Chang Graphite Longbody Midplus. I still have a many of these great POGs in my racket stock including a few NOS gems.
You can kiss your shoulder goodbye after that switch...Today marks my departure from the most venerable racket - the POG Mid - as my main playing stick !
I have been playing with it for the last dunno... more than year and half maybe two years (and before that was the classic graphite) - it has been a fantastic ride!
But nowadays seems like it requires from me that little extra physical effort to get the same spin and apower and control I get for free on more modern sticks, and not quite getting there.
Also somehow, and suddenly I can't find my rithm and zing on my best weapon - the kick serve... and makes something hurt on my shoulder.
I love it to death - and I thank the POG for having made me find my game and groove and gave bite to it! the feedback I get from the ball is simply unparalled - but it's time to get that extra zing on my game.
I'll be returning to the PS97 customized with a leather grip - for a crisper feel and more feedback from the ball.
To the POG Mid - my salute!

Shoulder pain is typically associated with a heavier racquet - PS97 in this case. It's stiffer too.I have played with the PS97 in the past (see sig), and even now recently - no pain whatsoever....
I'm curious, what was your experience to say that ?

A pro that uses the POG!
the newer tour model is similar to the 4 stripes, perhaps the 4 stripes is a little softer?, but similar feel and performance.Nice video. Anyway this modern version I suppose is much different from the original older versions (both one stripe and also 4 stripes)...of course the older are much better....
I own a one stripe, but never used it, I only used a 4 stripes.....are you sure about that? I knew that the classic graphite made in china were much worse also than the 4 stripesthe newer tour model is similar to the 4 stripes, perhaps the 4 stripes is a little softer?, but similar feel and performance.
perhaps qc might be worse. of the bunch definitely 4 stripes is the best. Ive got a few one stripes that I havent really hit with, but to me my tour and the 4 stripe feel pretty similar. of course opinion may differ depending on the player.I own a one stripe, but never used it, I only used a 4 stripes.....are you sure about that? what is "qc" for?qc might be worse.

I don't have a link, but I do have a combination of information I've gleaned off several posts over the last few years. Any quotes (e.g., "worst version IMO") are opinions of TT posters.
- POG 1: 1 green stripe, no grommets, teardrop head, no bumper; no printing on top or side or racket (possibly a sticker) except for "Prince" and "graphite" at throat, cork-filled - circa 1978
- POG 2: 1 green stripe, , no bumper, individual grommets, teardrop head; no printing on top or side or racket (possibly a sticker) except for "Prince" and "graphite" at throat, foam-filled? - circa 1980?
- POG 3: 1 green stripe, bumper, grommet strip, modern head, ave. 356g/10.5 HL; "graphite series 110" printed on side (later variation read simply "graphite 110"); "Prince" and "graphite" at throat; foam-filled; circa 1983
- POG 4: 4 green stripes, grommet strip, modern head, bumper, ave. 345g/8.5 HL; Printing: "GRAPHITE" in gold on crossbar, "Prince" and "Prince" in gold at throat, "110" in gold at 12:00, "Graphite 110" in green at side; foam-filled; circa 1987. At some point printing shifted to "Graphite Oversize" on side and "Oversize" at 12:00, but I don't know whether this corresponded to 4a, 4b, 4c, or 4d.
- POG 4a: box beam with sharp corners, solid, stiff, damped, silver hologram; "Series 110" on side
- POG 4b: solid, slightly less stiff, slightly rounder edges, green hologram
- POG 4c: rare, silver hologram, "Made In Taiwan" on other side, roundest edges, less HL
- POG 4d: white primer instead of black; squared edges like POG4a
- POG 5: "Straight Shaft", lighter, less HL, less stiff, "nice pop"
- POG 5.5: "20th Anniversary" "specs seem to be different"
- POG 6: "Tour" - latest POG, very stiff, least HL of all, feels like different material than all others, hollow contraction (?), "worst version IMO"
Quality Controlwhat is "qc" for?
The only issue there is.... the PS97 is much lighter than the POG Mid even after I added a leather grip to it (to the PS97 that is) - even with leather grip I'm about 10g lighter.
I have served with the POG Mid without issues until... one day (pre-confinement) I served one single serve to demo some technical aspect to soneone, competely forgot that I had not warmed up my shoulder.... and I tweaked something... then confinement, and on the return.... it started bugging me on serves with POG Mid.
Funny enough, they were completely absent when serving with a pure drive play (heresy I know but not only zero bother on the shoulder, and my serve ? oh boy...
That woke me up again to use more contemporary (and yes lighter) sticks and I had the PS97 gathering dust ....
gorgeous! just gorgeous! congrats on your purchase.... now it screams for a gut/poly combo !I present to you my latest acquisition. All of this was this forum's fault.
Very good condition for a racquet that's my age. The previous owner told me he used it maybe 4-5 times in the 80s And then stored it. It still had the original grip, and I am assuming the original strings too.
Prince Graphite 90
I believe it is time of produciton. I had a pair before but don't recall if both had the same side indication. On my OS, I've had one that said OS and the other 110.I've got a question. I have 2 pog mids that say midplus rather than 90. They are both 4 stripe. Are there any differences with the midplus vs th 90 or is it just different time of production?
