hmm. 10sw difference between tennisnerd and yours...did you hit with it? any impressions?

It was good with the light SW. Very fast, specially on serve and volley, but i play more of a baseline game so i added some lead to beef up SW to about 330 strung. I actually orderd 4 more of this new PS97, BUT.. then i got to try the new Blade SW102 and that made me cancel the PS97-order and instead order 4 of the Sw102 instead... Suits my game much better and it´s pretty similar to my customized Blade 100L

man, am I the only one that doesn't like this all black motif? The color schemes for the pro staffs have been great until they moved to the 2-tone color scheme and they're continuing with v13. I picked up the RF97A B/W when it went on sale after Roger went back to the all-black, kind of reminded me of the Hammer 6.2 back in the day.

@Hankenstein do tell! I want to know everything, but especially RA/feel.

Just got the Insiders mail from Wilson to pre-order the the Prostaff v13 but it seems that grip size 4 is unavailable, and when filling out the notification screen to be alerted when its available, a pop up appears that notifications are not available Looks like I’ll also miss out on the retro case for the first 70 pre-orders. Not too bothered about the case, as I have this case for my PS85 Original but it would have been nice since it would have been free. I’ll keep checking the UK site to see if it becomes available. £250 is a bit steep though, and that’s not even strung

Hey guys, did anyone try to order new pro staff from from wilson website?

Received two PS97s today from Wilson's website. Racket 1 311.6 static and Racket 2 313.6 static (without plastic wrap). Unstrung balance 31.2cm and 31.0cm respectively. Matching was quick. 2 grams of tungsten putty inside the butt cap of Racket 1. Overall satisfied with the two sticks I received. A little below listed static which is preferable anyways and balance + swingweight are on point after the quick mod. Would probably have been fine playing the two stock but could definitely feel the .2cm balance difference. Consider myself lucky knowing how wild Wilson QC can be. Would still recommend everyone to hold out for TW matching.

P.S. Didn't measure SW but can't discern a difference swinging the two so if they're off, they're off by a similar amount.

How has the grip changed? Has only the butt cap changed or has the grip shape changed as well? I have pro staffs from 2014 - is it different?

Yep just got my shipping notification and it took a while. Also got the retro case which is awesome. Wilson is crushing it right now. Can’t wait to order an H19 later this month.

I may have to as well. Never played with a six one 95. Too stiff got me. Absolutely despise the string pattern. There’s literally no chance I will ever play with it. But I want it.
This. I can only ever play decent tennis with 16/19's, so I love this glossy 6.1 . . . . but would never play well with it. And it's only otherwise going to be an expensive wall hanging ornament.

I would estimate the flex to be between 67-69. It´s a very solid frame and despite the high RA, i felt no problem at all with my arm. The short period i tried it I noticed this frame is not about the feel at all. It´s a beast for controlled power! The strung SW was a massive 351! I will cut the length of the frames from 28 to either 27 or 27.25 inches and that will take the SW down a fair bit. Will also inject some silicone. My end weight will be about 315 grams unstrung and i would be happy if i can have a strung SW of around 330.

Dang, I was hoping for low to mid 60s. Ever try the Blade 104 v7? 27.5 with low 60s flex. Weighted up the thing is a beast that I'm enjoying thoroughly, but I was intrigued by a somewhat similar frame in a tighter pattern and that gold paintjob. But it seems I will stick with the 104 in this category.

Yeah, did try the 104 v7 and did also lead it up. Was too flexy and too much power for me in the end. The SW102 is much more solid and predictable for my game. Easier to keep the ball in play. I dont need to "think" so much on each shot, just hit.

The PS97 now has 8 crosses above the pws, previously 7 crosses.

What about the mains? Has the spacing been adjusted for the new Pro Staff?

Oh that's you! Brilliant. Had watched that previously and it was one of several things that made me try the 104 - and I'm glad for it as it's so much fun. Last Q, then, as I don't want to derail this thread: what does the 102 give you that the 104 doesn't, if you're going to be cutting it down to the same 27.5?

More control and lower launch angle. Easier to hit hard with the 102. With the 104 i have to put so much spinn on the ball to keep it inside the lines. The 102 is easier to just hit flat with

Good stuff. Yeah, the 104 would be that much better if the pattern was slightly more dense. Thanks for the feedback.

To those who have already received their v13 racquets, or about to receive them soon, please post your initial impressions once you've had the chance to hit with them...thanks!

See, that just sounds glorious to me. I'm expecting the 6.1 to be epic.

My Pure Strike Tour is only 320 unstrung. That’s pretty much my limit of being able to take explosive cuts at the ball over the course of a singles match. Even the new Prostaff at 315 unstrung will be going down from there. I do wish the new Prostaff came in a 95 though.

The thing that I always loved about the 6.1 95 is its ability to just absolutely plow through a shot. Yes, the trade-off there is that I have to put in more work to get the shot started but it comes through so clean and stable and the shot just explodes off the frame. I can understand it's not for everyone. Especially, with a lot of people preferring slightly lighter frames these days. But the purity and brilliance of how it hits more than makes up for it for me.

When TW releases the frames next week I'd assume the specs will also be posted to TWU database.

TW will have them for preorder on 9/21 but they won’t be available until 9/28 or later unless you buy through the Wilson website directly. If you don’t want to do that, it will probably be October by the time you can get your hands on one.

Correct, I meant the Prostaff line not the Pro Labs. Also, it is not clear which line the 6.1 will be part of, but I think it will be Prostaff.
They've made an odd decision with the 6.1. It carries the Pro Staff name but it's part of the Pro Labs series. My guess is Wilson doesn't expect it to be a big seller.

It makes sense, tt is kind of like an echo chamber, but the majority of players out there are not looking for a 330 unstrung 95 sq in 18/20 racket. By selling directly they also have a way to better make sure the QC is acceptable since someone buying the 6.1 is probably more sensitive towards good QC. I think the whole reason they moved the ultra tour, the 6.1, and the new h22 (blade pro) to direct only is to make sure the QC is good. They will sell well but not well enough to have every retailer carry one, and again the type of player looking to buy these racquets will be anal about the QC.

The only annoying thing about this obviously is that it will hard to demo before buying.

If you are a Wilson Insider like myself, you were able to order the new Pro Staff line starting on 9/15 with same day shipping direct from Wilson. I ordered the new bag as I currently have 4 RF97's, so i didn't need to buy the new paint job RF97.

It was free when I ordered the racquet from Wilson. Tracking says I will get it Monday. Seems like a long time coming to CA from TN.
yeah.. well... why not.. I ordered one yesterday...should have it by Friday. I have to get the box into the house w/out wife noticing. running out of bs excuses about why I would need more racquets... or tennis shirts or shorts or shoes haha.... so to make it worthwhile I threw in the new 9 pack bag in there as well. If I am going to get sht for ordering my 20th racquet might as well make it worthwhile.

This could be a good frame to complement by blade v7 18x20 at times... or whatever I like to tell myself...

I need to do a massive clearance after this one if it plays well. everything goes.. blade and this stays possibly.. look for me on the sales section soon.. hah.

The biggest thing I’m concerned about myself is the tighter string pattern. If it’s anything similar to the blade 98 16x19 then it’s a no from me.
