I hope when I have injured my abdominal muscles. I can still be as nimble and fast as Djokovic and scream that loud without ill effects of my injury. He's a miracle of modern medicine, whatever it is they've pumped into him seems to be the cure for all ailments.

It's a difference in personality and temperament, but Djokovic smashes way more rackets than Fed (I only recall 1 or 2 times) and Rafa (never?) and that ofc doesn't help with his popularity
Like with every top player, there is unjustified hate against the guy but it's clearly more common with Novak than the others

i can understand that. But the stream of vicious comments against one player is a sign of obsession. There are posters who write, over and over, how much they dislike Novak. We got it the first 10000 times!
I'm complaining about Z anyway not Novak.

But yeah, not great from those fans.

Lucky for you I can't find the talking with hands emoticon

Strangely, he'd be far more likeable if he just embraced his inner unstable Balkanoid, and didn't try to fake this cringey nice stuff, love hearts etc.
He can be genuinely funny, and is clearly a very bright guy, his rage attacks only come across badly because they are so nakedly incongruent with the "Guru of Love & Serenity" schtick he pushes. If he was just at peace with being a happy one minute/rageaholic the next, like Goran, and stopped the acting and fakery, people would like him
This is actually spot on
I liked young Novak because he was a character and he seemed genuine in his character.

Now it seems like he's playing the role of Novak except he doesn't always remember who the Novak character is or what the script says.

Goran was a character and likeable because he was always just Goran, genuine Goran. Angry and frustrated Goran was the same guy as likeable Goran, it works if it's real and you're not trying. People sense that.

The more matches I watch, the clearer it becomes why these guys keep winning. They know how to win. They are confident they're going to eventually come out on top against anyone who isn't one of the Big 3.

This confidence is born out of the knowledge that almost irregardless of how poor they play, the younger players will ALWAYS give them multiple chances to win. The big moments will be too big for them, the tense moments will make them shrink. If you're down, if you are playing poorly, if you've been broken, these guys will hand opportunities for you to climb back in and win a set, and likely the match. The youngsters have no ability to stomp down on close matches, to take the openings that the old guard give them and put them down. The USO 2020 final was ample evidence of this, with no members of the Big 3, we had two guys who kept trying to give the match to each other as neither could take charge, push to win - eventually somebody (Theim) stumbled onto the podium.

Here we see it again. Zverev could have grabbed this third set, Djokovic tried to give it to him a few times, but Zverev always gave it back. Novak's been here before, he's seen this dance, he knows that as long as he hangs around the other guy will probably throw him yet another bone and if he can pull himself together for a bit, he'll win a close set.

Don't get me wrong, the Big 3 is great and hard to beat, but the younger generation sure is helping them stay around.

Maybe Karatsev, being someone who hasn't gone through this will whistle along obviously to the reality that the youngsters have created for themselves and do something novel. I think I'm done watching this, pretty sure this current match will turn out like all the others...
Truth. Utter truth. I don’t know about this match yet, think Sascha may win it, but overall those are the honest to God facts.

Yet Djackovic fans constantly disparage the 'weak era of 'Hewitt, Baghdatis, Roddick' etc from the early 2000s

I don't remember any of them playing this awfully in the latter stages of a slam. This is the true mug era

Djokovic literally looking for one minute at his coach and getting so much coaching. He hasn’t taken his eyes off of them and he’s not even pretending.
