Prince Phantom Pro 100p vs Prince Phantom 100p

I just ordered 2 more Phantom 100P frames this evening from TW. I am surprised that this racquet doesn't get more attention by advanced players. For a thin beam, it packs some serious pop with great control along with the plush feel making this one of the best racquets in the Phantom line IMO. The sweetspot is huge and the stability is off the charts making able to handle heavy pace and spin. Compared to alot of other players frames made today, the Phantom 100P is definitely on the top of list and highly recommended for 4.0 and above players!

Might need to hand a few losses out to your fellow players out there for some attention on what you're using.

Wilson and Babolat get alot of the hype these days. Prince is definitely making a comeback! The Phantom series are the best players racquets that I have seen in a number of years!

I totally agree. I picked up a couple 93P racquets on a whim because I used to play with Prince as a kid/teenager. What a solid/sweet frame especially at net (it doesn't twist in my hands when someone hits a screamer). I feel that Prince (and Dunlop) are putting out some great racquets under the relative radar.

I am right with you! The stability of the Phantoms are spectacular and better than alot of thick beam frames! I second you on Dunlop as I also like the CX line and have a 200 CX OS as an in between frame for lighter hitting.

Just amazing at the net, IMO.

As far as the grommets go, I could be mistaken here, but I thought the Phantom Pro 100P had 8 mains in the throat. Which would mean the other spacing is off, of course. But I would have thought that you might have noticed that in the throat piece, even if you were only replacing the others. I could be mistaken.

Also, in the "my two cents" department. I wanted to add a little more pop to my serve, so I added 2 grams at 12, to my 100P even though I really think the design of a racquet can easily be messed up by someone like me trying X grams at 12, or why not at 10 and 2, 3 and 9, or why not 6x grams in the throat, you know. But still I did it, and it added pop to my serve. But...

I work out three days a week, around two hours each day, and for two months I aletnaterd every 30 minutes from the leaded 100P, to a factory 100P, to a 100X 305. Every one of them makes you think, "Wow, I can see the advantage this one has!" But when it comes right down to it, the straight up 100P does everything better over the long haul.

Every setup is a dream at the net though (the 100X wins that head to head)

YMMV. Happy hitting

I am going to have research the grommets because I had an issue putting the top grommets on the 100P.
I added 2 grams at 3 and 9 which added some additional plow and pop to an already very stable frame. The 100x 305 is also good but didn't have enough plow and power for my game. I have tried my share of racquets but haven't found anything better than the Phantom 100P.
Happy Hitting and enjoy the rest of the Summer!

Could someone compare 100P to 100G?

Both seem quite similar, just sw difference?
The 100G has a crossbar and has a slightly more headlight balance. The biggest difference is that the 100P has a significantly higher SW and will have more power and much better stability. I have not played with the 100G but if the SW of the 100P at 328 is too much for you I would recommend trying the 100G. Both frames have a 59 RA and extremely plush feeling.

The 100P is a fantastic all around as I have noted previous times in this thread that was started by myself.

Just got my 2 new Phantom 100P from TW and they both weighed 327 grams. I have 3 others that are all within a gram of each other. The quality control with Prince is quite good.
I don't plan on buying any other racquets anytime soon! Prince has me hooked!! Can't say this about any other racquets that I have tried over the last number of years!

Not sure about Prince QC... but my original 93P and my newly acquired PCG100 were both much higher swingweights than advertised. Super annoying on the PCG100 since it doesn't have a trap door. Will have to see what butt caps fit it.

I played with the 2 new Phantom 100P frames today and the SW, balance and static are extremely close to my other 3 frames that I bought last year. Can't say enough good things about this racquet. The feel, comfort, spin, control and easy depth are spectacular ! I could never switch to a any wide beam frame!

I`m still playing with my 100p. (The only racquets I have lol)
I just changed the grip. Added fairway leather on my both racquets. I really enjoy the feel of the bevels with leather grip.

Do you have the newer version or the original?

Played today with the new 100p and really liked it,had the older version for a while but this one is definitely an improvement, prefer this one over the 100x,nice plow ,power if you string low, control, spin, heavy serve. The crazy thing is that i cant say its a big difference in playability from my synergy DB 24 from the nineties!?Same pattern, head size,i would say it plays similar but 100p has heavier SW and synergy has better feel more classic

The 2020 100P is really an underrated racquet ! I now have 5 of them and have totally committed . The consistency and variety of strokes has improved my overall game and confidence. Can't say that about too many racquets that have been made over the last 10 years or so. You don't get free power but the 100P promotes good stroke production. I now have confidence to grind out points and go for winners at the appropriate time ⏲️. More advanced players should really try this frame as it's head and shoulders above the Wilson Blade or Clash line. You get a forgiving racquet with a huge sweet spot with the 100 sq inches along with great stability and control!!

If I had space for more racquets I'd get the new version but I blew the last slot for a 93p 18x20:happydevil:

Hey, the 100P is my main racquet, and I still hit with the 100X 305 as well. But I demoed the 93p as well, and though it was a shade heavy, I could get used to it. It is nice. Enjoy! Though I like a slightly cushier grip than leather.

Well I did purchase it for fun. More for when I'm feeling worthy and enjoy a thin box beam classic spec racquet. It's like having an expensive car in the garage and only driving it on selective occasions. These will become increasingly hard to find in the future.

Have you added any weight to the 100P? If so, how much? I was playing with 2 grams on 3 and 9 as well as the butt of the handle but I am beginning to think that the extra weight is not needed as there's ample SW in stock form.

I noticed the grommets are quite sensitive, after first stringing 5-6 of them broke while playing, because of snap back i guess

I have not had any problems with the grommets. Who's stringing your racquets? Did you get the racquet new?

Mine is the first gen phantom 100p and grommets are fine. However, the ones on my beasts are like that. They crack and split open at the knots or on spots where they're under a lot of stretching/stress. They look kind of dry and brittle.

I tried the Yonex VCP 97 310 for a couple of weeks due to lower RA of 60 and unfortunately I was disappointed. It was pretty low powered and not as arm friendly as I would have liked. I really liked it for the first 2 outings and then when I played with some harder hitters it lacked the feel and easy depth.

I am back with the Prince Phantom 100P that has everything I am looking for in order feel, comfort, control, large sweet spot stability, easy depth and spin. This racquet is so predictable and brings out the confidence in my strokes.

I will not be trying any other racquets in the foreseeable future. Prince has hit a home run with the Phantom 100P!!!

Not arm friendly with 60RA?Have you tried to add some weight? They claim is more powerful than the previous vcore 97,no?

The VCP97 310 I had was over spec static and sw so adding more weight would have been too much for me to handle. While the RA was lower than the previous model, it played firmer than the 60 RA. I am used to a more forgiving racquet. I'm not saying it was uncomfortable but not nearly as plush like the Phantom 100P. I didn't try the previous model. I just personally prefer the Phantom 100P. It's much easier to use IMO.

I am back on the Phantom 100P kick after using the Dunlop 200 CX OS for almost a year. The 200 CX is eating strings too quickly and required too much customization.

The Phantom 100P is one of the best players 100 sq inch frames that doesn't need customization to due to the healthy stock swingweight. You don't get free power but the added feel, control, comfort, plow, and spin make it a really great racquet. The mass gives you the pop, plow and stability that many other players frames doesn't have IMO!!!!

I can't answer yet because I won't be able to play with the new 100P until three months from now when I'll have recovered from surgery on my right eye.
But let's see how the Phantom 100P with a higher swingweight and 10 grams more will perform compared to my Angell Tc101.

Sorry to hear that! Best of luck ! Another 10 grams on the 100P is going to a monster of stick with loads of plow.

Can someone explain the differences between the Phantom 100P vs Phantom 100G. I currently use the 100P and whilst I absolutely love it I can get a couple of 100G brand new really cheap. I've always loved the POG and just that cross stabiliser bar silhouette but on paper they are very similar? Can someone out here give me more information around the differences between the two. I'm not looking to replace my 100P but just add to my ever expanding collection of frames.

Digging this thread up since I just found a 100P on a certain auction site, and got it for a pretty massive discount. I am excited. Eastern FH, OHBH, 4.0 all court player. Used an underspec Gravity Pro for a while, and think this could be similar, but I prefer more open string patterns, so hopefully this will be a real winner. Have Toroline Wasabi waiting to be strung in it when the 100P arrives.

It's a very, very good racquet. I bought after demoing a couple years ago, and when I was demoing my coach commented on how deep and solid it sounded. "Thwop". I think you'll like it, because it's an open pattern but is good for flat shots due to weight distribution. I also have eastern FH and OHBH, and it really helped me on defense coming from the 93p 18x20. Can get the ball deep on the run without having to hit too hard. Only downside for me, and ultimately the reason I stopped using it, is it felt "pancakey" on serve. I have a big flat serve out wide on ad side (~105mph) and use a kick for my 2nd, and I couldn't "whip" it the way I like. I also tried the 100X 18x20, which I liked more than 100p for groundstrokes, but it was even worse on serve.

Since you're coming from Gravity, that probably won't be an issue for you. I can do round head, I can do 100", but I can't do both.
