    Meanest slice?

Wow, those are some insane strokes. The racquet/reaction speeds are so fast.

    Advice on cleaning leather grip

You are pretty close. It is an McEnroe 200g. The original leather grip has Dunlop printed on it. Since it cleaned up well, I'll keep it original.

    Advice on cleaning leather grip

I wiped the leather grip with alcohol as suggested and it took 3 tries to get all the residue off. I had to use a stiff brush to get the residue out of the gaps. It cleaned up nicely. I then used castor oil to treat the grip. It looks close to brand new now. Thanks for the instructions.

    Advice on cleaning leather grip

I purchased an old racquet that has some overgrip (looks like tournagrip) residue on the original leather. Any advice on how to clean it without ruining the leather? I'll try to link a photo later.

He had a Jimmy Connors/McEnroe forehand stroke! Yes, and I tried it....sorry..a bit long.

So how would this technique work against high bouncing topspin. I guess you would have to step in and take the ball on the rise. Or move back.

I meant Astroceramic not Revolutive. I got it confused with the Donnay.

    WTB Fila Racquets

I am looking for the Fila racquets from the 80's. If I remember correctly, the names are Revolutive Discovery and Columbia. Let me know if you have one for sale. Please email me at george_yew at hotmail.com.

Did Wawrinka change his backhand grip?

Looks pretty continental to me. But more impressive to me was in the video, he was aiming for a can with his backhand and he was able to nail it. At the beginning of the video, you can see the can upright and after his shot, it was rolling on the court! That's pretty impressive accuracy.

    Wilson Ceramic Midsize

The string pattern is the same as the PS85. But it hole locations are slightly different. I had to cut a PS85 grommet in order to fit it in a Ceramic.
  14. G

    Wilson Ceramic Midsize

The ceramic is a softer racquet than the PS85. It is 80% graphite and 20% ceramic. It is a very smooth hitting racquet if you hit in the sweetspot. On the top of the frame it is very soft and low powered.

    T 2000 article

I have a T2000 sitting in my closet. I've never hit with it. After reading the article, I am very curious about the rebound effect that he was referring to. I might just have to try it out.

    Best Slazenger on BF sale.

I would have to say the Pro Braided....even though it is a bit too stiff for my liking.

    Wilson prostaff ceramic 85

The Ceramic is a lot softer than the PS. They look the same but play very different.

Anyone use the Pro Staff 85?

Yup, I still use mine on a regular basis. I have a couple of other racquets in my bag just in case my timing is off. But I can serve with the PS85 like no other racquet!

Reunited, and it Feels So Good..........

I grew up wanting an Apollo and an Athena. But back then, the new ones were out of my price range. A few years back, I had a chance to purchase a brand new Apollo. But I was disappointed when I saw that the grommets were brittle and completely cracked. Deep down, I still want to own one so that...

    Babolat Tungsten Tape

If it was 2x the density of lead, the tungsten tape should be 1/2 as thick compared to the lead tape (assuming the same weight).

    Heaviest Racket you ever tried

Mine was probably Lendl's racquet, Adidas GTX Pro T. I had that racquet in '88/'89. I remembered playing pretty well with it.
  25. G

    Fila Astroceramic

Also, be careful stringing the racquet. Even though the grommets are new, they are probably dry and brittle from being so old. The could crack when a string is pulled through them.

    Fila Astroceramic

I am so jealous. I've been looking for one since the 90's. Please post a photo so that I can drool even more.

Me too. Actually any of the Fila racquets. If I remember correctly, the Fila Champion, Discovery, and Enterprise.

    Gamma System 35

I remember that racquet. Let me see if I can dig up some info from magazines back in 1988. Where in the world did you get grommets for that ancient racquet??
