    In praise of Kevlar/ZX hybrid!!!

The Kevlar is definitely lighter than poly. With the hybrid, I had to add weight to my racquets to get them back to the same specs I had with a poly syn gut hybrid.

    In praise of Kevlar/ZX hybrid!!!

Depends on the string bed. When I was using 2015 Blade 104’s with a tighter 18 x 19 pattern, I found my ideal tensions to be 57 lbs x 50 lbs. When I shifted to a significantly more open pattern Prince Tour 98 ESP 16 x 16 pattern I needed to up the Kevlar tension quite a bit to manage power...

    In praise of Kevlar/ZX hybrid!!!

Not everyone, but it is recommended. I use 15% machine pre stretch on both the Kevlar and Zyex and let the machine continuously pull the Zyex until it settles in on the cross strings (usually a 30 to 40 second process after the initial tension is reached/machine beep) Others swear by...

How to pre-stretch Ashaway Monogut ZX or ZX Pro

For what it’s worth, I use 15% machine pre stretch on my crosses with ZX and let the machine continue to pull until the tension settles a bit before clamping. Normally this is a 30 to 40 second process waiting for the tension to settle. I also use the 16g ZX and use only 15 feet of it to...

    In praise of Kevlar/ZX hybrid!!!

Settling in on 68 lbs x 48 lbs in my Prince Tour 98 ESP’s. After some some experiments, this has been my favorite tension setup the past few months. At least until the next experiment.

Counter - Shock (eliminating vibration to arm?)

Not really, just prefer heavier racquets. Played with the PK Ki5 PSE for a while and eventually modified future racquets to those specs. Through additions of head tape, leather grips, string experiments, and other tweaking ended up at 380 grams and loved the feel and have since modified future...

Counter - Shock (eliminating vibration to arm?)

I have not weighed them separately so I can not provide that number for you. You place counter shocks at the balance point so it does not throw off the balance of your racquet. I still use a vibration dampener, but I am not as concearned with overall weight as I my racquets are at 380 grams.

    In praise of Kevlar/ZX hybrid!!!

First hit with the 68 x 48 lbs went well. Not a drastic difference in performance than the 68 x 50 lbs, but a bit softer feel with maybe a tad more power. Will have to see how it goes for the next few weeks to see if I like it better. Since switching to the Kevlar / Zyex hybrid a few years...

    In praise of Kevlar/ZX hybrid!!!

I have been enjoying 68 x 50 lbs for a few months now and it has replaced my go to 64 x 52 lbs as my baseline set up in my Prince Tour 98 ESP’s. Probably going to experiment a little bit more when I string up one this afternoon as I am thinking of dropping the ZX tension down a few pounds. My...

    In praise of Kevlar/ZX hybrid!!!

I am running Prince Tour 98 ESP’s weighted up to 380 grams / 10 pts HL. Lots of lead at 3/9 and 12 with leather grip and BluTack in the handle with the Kev/ZX hybrid and loving it as well. I am running 16g on both strings to combat the string eating 16 x 16 pattern and have recently been...

Which bag between the Tecnifibre Endurance Pro XL Rackpack and the 15 Racquet bag would you recommend for me?

4 rackets in one of the side main pockets. The other side main compartment has 3 of the small Technifibre bags in there along with an ERC 300 string meter. In those small bags I store sunglasses(3 pair), winter gloves, 30 pack of over-grips, 3 packs of head protection tape, spare dampeners...

Which bag between the Tecnifibre Endurance Pro XL Rackpack and the 15 Racquet bag would you recommend for me?

Definitely the 15 pack. Bought the rack pack non XL version and was a bit disappointed with the limited space. The XL is not much bigger dimension wise, but still would not be big enough for what I normally like to carry. Went back to my trusty 15 pack even though I only carry 4 rackets.

How .Do You Label Your Racquets ?

I use small round stickers that I write the tension and date strung, I then placed inside the throat near the grip. All four of my racquets are modified identically so, to me, I do need need to tell them apart, but you could use different colored stickers if you are trying to differtiate one...

    In praise of Kevlar/ZX hybrid!!!

Synthetic gut is not Zyex. Zyex has some unique properties that make it work extremely well with the Kevlar. I have never had a locked stringbed since I switched to the Kevlar/ZX hybrid even after 100 hours of court time.

    In praise of Kevlar/ZX hybrid!!!

:-D I did my tour of polys and hybrids a few years ago, once I tried Kev/ZX I have never looked back. For me, this hybrid has the best mix of comfort, performance, and durability of any string set up I have tried.

    In praise of Kevlar/ZX hybrid!!!

One of the downsides of the Kev/ZX hybrid is that I am barely getting any stringing practice in. :giggle: I think I only strung 5 racquets for myself in 2018, the longevity of this hybrid is amazing. While I have been quite happy with my Prince Tour 98 ESP’s strung up at 64 lb / 52 lb, I...

    Nike Vapor X

Went out to drill there were still a couple of sizes left, came back after drill and they are gone. Glad I grabbed them when I did.

    Nike Vapor X

Vapor X Kyrie’s are going fast. Nike App sold out, TW running out of various sizes. Missed out on the RF/Jordan’s every time due to ultra limited supply, glad TW was able to stock some of the Kyrie so I at least had the opportunity to buy them.

    Adidas Barricade 2015 solar red?

I wore them with black, gray, and navy (or combination of). I have a similar colored Adidas hat that I wore with them, not quit as bright, though.

    Weighting up Blade 104 (2015)

I will copy and paste my initial lead setup. I eventually removed a layer of lead ar 3&9 and added more tail weight and 12 weight to get it 10 pts HL. With the tail weighting at 10 pts HL, I never felt as though I lost any maneuverability. I am a doubles player as well and valued the extra...

    Weighting up Blade 104 (2015)

Using the thin lead tape 1/4”, you can lead tape any where on the racquet head. At 3&9 where the extended grommet holes are, just put it towards the outer edge. I had no issues with several layers of lead on my Blade 104’s at 3 & 9, as well as at 12. The only suggestion I have, which applies...

    In praise of Kevlar/ZX hybrid!!!

I use the Kevlar/ZX hybrid in a wide open Prince Tour 98 ESP 16 x 16 pattern. For a racquet that was labeled a string eater, I have been able to get 75 to 100 hours on a string bed without any noticible loss of performance. I have also found that I needed to up the tension differential in the...

Adding weight in the handle without a trap-door

Depending on racquet type, you can replace the butt cap with one with a trap door. Some racquet companies make it harder than others (Pro Kennex and Volkl for example) by putting some kind of dampenening technology in their butt caps, but if you have say a Prince without a trap door butt cap...

Taking the Prince Tour 100T ESP out for a demo

I am using the similar generation Prince Tour 98 ESP, and much like you, bought more at closeout prices last year averaging around $50/frame new in plastic (15 total frames as it looks like ESP is just about dead). I love the ESP and can only guess they went out of style due to string longevity...

    people with Kevlar strings

I have only broken Monogut ZX Black 16g twice, both times on the same racquet. Found a sharp edge in one of the grommets which explained why that string had broken there. The other one was a string I am pretty sure I nicked during the stringing process. Since I smoothed out the grommet, no...

    people with Kevlar strings

Not if you use Monogut ZX. I have been on a bit of a durability test with 3 of my current racquets strung with Ash Kev 16g and Monogut ZX Black 16g @ 64 lbs / 52 lbs. The racquets are Prince Tour 98 ESP’s with a string chewing 16 x 16 pattern all modified up to 380g / 10 pts HL. The three...

Looking for a Good Shoe (Heavier Guy)

The best shoes I have found for comfort/performance have been the Gel Res 7’s. The new Babolat SFX 3’s are great shoes, especially if you have a wider foot, but they are not quite as cushioned as the Gel Res 7. I liked the Adidas Barricades 2015 and later for a while, but then started having...

    Kimony Quake Buster Shock Absorber

I have been using these for a couple of years now and have not thought about switching them out. I have only had one fall out my stringbed once in two years of use and that was due to a direct impact on the dampener by a ball on a miss hit. I learned about them from a teaching pro at our club...

What is this under the leather grip?

It is doubled sided tape used by the factory to help the grip adhere to the handle. I always remove it and have never had an issue with the replacement leather grips slipping. If your replacement grip does not have any adhesive it will probably still be fine If you wrap it with enough tension...
