Is there a particular reason why u dont want a fh that bends during the forward swing like eg Djokovic? If that feels more comfortable.

Men are more explosive than women and can thus get away with a shorter swing. Women need a big swing to accelarate the racket. I dont think u lack strength. By the time u hit the ball ur body should be transferring its weight into the ball, so if the ball feels very heavy in ur arm then it...

Thoughts on this bit of coaching from Nick Bollittieri

It has already been said many times in this thread! He wants him to not do a loop before his unit turn. Period.

Are u serious!? NB telling a kid to change from a modern fh to a classic fh! Lol He would be out of business in no time, so of course not.

I not sure about u, but another guy in the thread said "deffo an inside out fh" and Tomas from Feel tennis starts his video about this swing saying that all the pros swing out to the side even on their take back! to initiate the figure 8 and then links to some "guru" with his own website about...

U cant "propel" something in two different directions! Plus if u are just giving a description of what happens then there is no reason to give it a new name such as "an inside out fh".

See my post no 52. U are really not being clear but maybe thats the intention.

Btw, its not like i havent had the idea of using that inside out principle that u are talking about. This is my private note no 514 where i reflect about exactly this. It is in danish but if u put it in google translate u will see what my thoughts were about this at the time. "514) Hey! Hvad...

Im not mad at all bro, thus the smiley! I dont think that u (guys) are really clear in saying whether it is a mental trick or an actual real swing that is different from a normal atp pro fh. When u (he) use the wording "that is deffo an inside out fh" the u give the impression that something...

Lol, anybody who wants to hit a proper fh pls dont do this! Seriously, where do u pick up these things :)))

But if its a visualisation "trick" or progression then i guess it really doesnt matter what happens in Rafa's swing. But re the Rafa pics of course his arm will be further from is side late in the swing since the arm starts independent movement as it approaches contact but that doesnt imply...

With all due respect, and i dont doubt u have alot of knowledge, imo, the inside out swing path is complete nonsense. In the vid u link to his arm stays more or less in the same relation to the body all up to contact. This is a normal swing. He or pro players dont "try" and swing out to the...

Would u have some vid or otherwise from coaches saying the same thing? I have some further comments but dont have time to write them right now.

Can anyone like to videos backing up that u should swing outwards (actively and intentionally) on and atp forehand? I can see why u would do this on a wta fh but not an ATP fh.

You said "I will look at this more closely, thanks for the input. To me it seems a lot of pros (I mainly watch the guys with a straight arm forehand) also tilt the shoulder axis down for a low and up for a high contact point so that could help with a steady swing." This is what i was referring...

It is not just the bendiñg and extension of the hip. See what happens when u bring ur racket arm forward through torsorotation while bending in the hip. At a point the hitting arm shoulder will be almost under the other shoulder just like when u do the shoulder over shoulder rotation for the...

What u say is correct! What does the drag theory say? That the racket doesnt catch up?! In certain situations it might not catch up, when control is more important than power but otherwise yes that reacket catches up.

Alot of good advice here that i agree with. As u prepare u are bending a little bit forward in the hip but then at contact u are completely erect. Try staying bend in the hips a little longer (also bending a bit more) and then straightening through contact (and not before contact as u do now)...

Thoughts on this bit of coaching from Nick Bollittieri

U need to understand the difference between preparation and takeback. Federer here times it so that the is no pause between his preparation and the actual swing. Find a vid where he prepares early and se if se does a loop during preparation. Plus u need to understand the world of branding...

Thoughts on this bit of coaching from Nick Bollittieri

It wasnt for no reason, the boy was late on many shots. Plus saying take racket straight back doesnt necessarily mean with the racket tip pointing backwards. U can take it straight back while the racket is pointing up. The boy was looping as part of his preparation (ie torso rotation) not as...
