If I am a young player who has never had any arm issues, is there any need to be using "comfortable" or "soft" polys?`

The real answer to your question is...it all depends. For years I used Kevlar/gut strung in the upper 60s in the following frames: Yonex RD Power 10 Long Wilson Hyper ProStaff 6.1 Stretch Babolat Pure Control + 'Swirly' All 3 of those frames were 12+ oz and 68+ RA. By definition, my arm...

I actually bought a slightly used reel of Signum X-perience from a friend of mine. Got a great deal on it, and the ladies are none the wiser...

A string you had such high hopes for but was a complete bust...???

Refreshing to see others chiming in about Hyper G. I, too, fell for the 'hype' in Hyper G and bought a reel before even demoing it. Played with it for ~ 10 minutes and realized I hated it. Luckily I string for a bunch of 3.0-3.5 ladies who care more about the color of the string than how it...

27.5 rackets with a "high" sweetspot

Huh, I didn't notice that. They must have posted the wrong graph as I copied it from the VCORE 98+ review: https://www.tennis-warehouse.com/Reviews/VC98P/VC98PReview.html I'll update my post just so there's no confusion.

    Last match you played?

My last 'meaningful' match was the 1st week in March for my 40+ 4.5 team, and it was a bit of a disappointment. Me & my partner were slated to play the #1 slot, which meant we'd likely play the other team's 5.0. We're both fairly strong 4.5s, and were looking forward to a good match. During...

27.5 rackets with a "high" sweetspot

So, if you check out the Review section of a frame on TW, they have some graphs from the Tennis Warehouse University that show, among other things, Sweet Zones. For example, here are the graphs for the VCORE 100+, the Pure Drive +, and Blade 104 Sweet Zones (respectively): From the graphs...

Tennis Warehouse Playtest: Yonex Poly Tour Pro (blue) 1.25 & 1.15

It’s a good idea, but I imagine he’ll worry about transfer from my hand -> ball -> his strings. Then he touches his strings w/ his hands (e.g., unconsciously straightening them). Now it’s on his hands. Honestly I don’t know if that is possible, but he’s extremely cautious. But, better that...

Tennis Warehouse Playtest: Yonex Poly Tour Pro (blue) 1.25 & 1.15

Glad to see the deadline has been extended to May 13th. I hope to get out for some fairly regular hitting in the coming weeks. Now that the weather is getting better I can frequent a few semi-private outdoor courts near my house. Only drawback is one of my regular hitting partners is enforcing...

    Yonex Ezone 98

I currently use the VCORE 98 +, and had a nice hit w/ the EZONE 98 a week before the **** hit the fan. I gotta say...if they'd release a '+' version of this, I'd be all over it. The new EZONE is very muted, but I like that about it. Definitely a better 'feel' than my VCOREs (I'm not disliking...

    Updated statement from USTA National

    Updated statement from USTA National

A little birdie told me that they are still hopeful to hold Nationals for all groups, but that many dates may be pushed back. The prevailing thought is to get a schedule out that works for most sections, and let the individual sections decide how they want to "get there". For some sections, its...

poll to find out if most y'all use a racquet with over/under 330 swingweight

TW lists the VCORE 98+ as having a Swingweight of 340, and I've added a little weight in the handle by beefing up the buttcap and using the Tecnifibre X-tra Full grip, so I'm guessing its over their estimate.

They just canceled all of that in VA. Luckily for us, our youngest graduated 2 years ago, but I couldn’t imagine having to go through all of that under these conditions. At this time 2 years ago, we were still visiting colleges.

Thanks. A little off topic, but when I first joined (almost 13 years ago), I naively used my real name. I soon realized I shouldn't do that, so I requested TW change it. Turns out, that is the only time they'll allow a name change. Well, I had literally just watched the movie a night or two...

anyone here use gut/hybrid in a racquet with 18 mains? does the durability issues of the gut go away with 18 mains?

I think it has a lot to do with playing conditions (are you inside? Humid or dry conditions?), playing surface, level, and style. For me, 4.5 level player w/ fairly flat strokes who spends most of my time on hard courts, longevity of gut wasn't the issue. It was as @FIRETennis stated, the poly...

    Will USTA refund league fees?

It is not about just you & your opponent standing 60 ft away from each other. Its about all the door handles/water jugs/table tops/etc. you touched to & from the courts, and all the 'social interaction' that inevitably takes place before & after the match.
