Why are there no all time greats below the age of 30?

Well, what about figure skating and gymnastics? Those sports are international and are still dominated by young people. Young people that's particularly active in social media btw.

    Sascha already making excuses

Here's the full quote: It was taken so out of context. Most of the things he said make total sense, and it doesn't sound as if he were making any excuses. The effort some people put to mess up this guy's image is ridiculous.

Federer wants ATP and WTA to merge into one governing body

It's not just about Serena. The likes of Osaka, Gauff and company already have more star power than say, Zverev, Tsitsipas and Medvedev (and I say this as a fan of those guys). And at the end of the day, big figures are the ones that fill stadiums and raise the viewers. The ATP will need some of...

    2020 Australian Open SemiFinal :- [5] Dominic Thiem v/s [7] Alexander Zverev

I really think so as well! I'm not gonna lie, Z has improved so much in such little time, I'm a bit afraid this will only be a temporary thing  But hopefully, he'll prove me wrong and stay in this path. At least, for now, he has a good cushion of confidence to build on the rest of his...

    2020 Australian Open SemiFinal :- [5] Dominic Thiem v/s [7] Alexander Zverev

This is probably the match result I care about the least. Zverev is my favorite, but Thiem is playing so well and seems to be such a nice person I'll be super happy with any of them winning. :giggle: (y)

Don't worry, I've seen so much worse in this forum when it comes to Z. This joke at least made me laugh a bit :giggle:

Over 40,000 tickets sold for Federer/Zverev match in Mexico

Zverev made super clear he wasn't going to take part in this new Davis Cup ever since the new format was announced. He rejected both its place in the season, the lack of best of 5, lack of home and away ties, and overall the drastic changes to the oldest event in tennis. In his words: “I hope...

Over 40,000 tickets sold for Federer/Zverev match in Mexico

If anyone is interested in watching the match, one of Mexico's public channels will broadcast the event live and for free. Here's the channel's official stream (you may need a VPN for this one): https://www.tvazteca.com/azteca7/peliculas/envivo

Andy Murray pleads for crowd to show up for Davis Cup

You're right, I didn't. I just saw that post and a valid point on how the Davis Cup is struggling with selling tickets. Which isn't a rumor made up from anonymous Fed devotees, but real people actually assisting to the event:

Andy Murray pleads for crowd to show up for Davis Cup

I don't think @tennisaddict is trying to take a dig at Rafa in particular, but at the Davis Cup overall. We all know Rafa, Nole and Andy fans will always show up and fill stadiums when their idols are playing. But this isn't the case with other players and teams, at least judging by the images...

Has Davis Cup fallen off the radar ?

I wonder why you're so selective when it comes to sharing content? Yes, Zverev said he didn't wanted to play a tournament at the end of a season (which btw is different to an exho). But he also said very clearly he didn't want to play in this new Davis Cup 'cause he didn't see it as the...

What generation is Thiem part of?

I actually like the "LoneWolf Gen" term much more. Maybe not now, but in a few years, when everything about the Next Gen is more clear and well defined, we'll need a name for those players caught between two generations. For example, I personally find it hard to place players like Thiem, even...

What generation is Thiem part of?

Yeah, and he was never put in the same conversation as Dimitrov, Roanic and company, so I'll give you that. Age wise I see him closer to the Lost Gen, but results wise he seems more like a Next Gen... idk it's always so confusing with these transition era children o_O
  19. Alba Barragan

What generation is Thiem part of?

But he's closer in age to someone like Dimitrov than to someone like Medvedev, Khachanov, Chung, etc. who are officially the first NextGen.
  20. Alba Barragan

What generation is Thiem part of?

I see the Next Gen as born from 1996/1997 onwards. So that'd make him a late Lost Gen. But that's me, so who knows.

I'm afraid Fed will end up with losing h2h vs nextgen with most players

Kinda agree with this but that last part... nah, that's being way too optimistic.

I'm afraid Fed will end up with losing h2h vs nextgen with most players

The concept of talent is so weird in this forum. I'd believe an immense amount of talent would be necessary to be one of the 10-20 best in the world at what you do. Just because these guys aren't Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, etc. doesn't mean they're talentless.

Wow: what a moment from Osaka

You can be shy and struggle making friends yet still be capable of doing nice things when the occasion merits it. Sometimes people gain more courage to do great displays of friendliness during complex situations than on a daily basis. Kvitová said in an interview this year that she has noted a...

Wow: what a moment from Osaka

No, it's okay for you to point that out. And it's also okay for her to be like that. There's nothing wrong with being terribly competitive in a competition and super friendly in your everyday life.

Wow: what a moment from Osaka

You should read what Coco said after the match. She gave a good explanation of why what happened was remarkable. What Naomi did is precisely what marks what a good athlete is: ruthless and competitive on the court, but gracious and friendly once the match is over.
