    question about working out

Ok, here's just a general question. I feel that early in the morning biking for 1.5-3 miles usually tends to wake me up, and I don't sweat even when trying my hardest. So, if I plan on doing a workout routine where every other day I at around 3:00 PM lift weights and then run, would it be...

    Heght: 5 9 for 16 year old

Drink lots and lots of milk. Also, what's a heght? ...maybe you should worry about schoolwork over your current height.

    Jumproping

Core...lats...deltoids... Also, jogging is pretty pointless overall. Much better to put in a bit of effort and waste like 30-40 minutes a day, 3 or 2 days a week doing interval training...And I mean MUCH.

    Stairmaster

Just putting this out there - heard from many people that this is actually the best, fastest, and most efficiently possible way to burn calories. Is this true? I mean it seems to make sense...

How many calories would you estimate are burned in tennis?

Which is strangely enough pretty much what I do. Except before a game so that it's all burned off, not after. Aaaand...yeah...Not really gaining weight here...In fact the opposite. And I myself hate playing "slow" tennis, where people don't run to get balls, or don't play seriously. My...

How many calories would you estimate are burned in tennis?

100 calories? ...HAH... You use an enormous 2000 calories for basic daily needs such as breathing, digesting...blinking... 100 calories burned playing tennis? 1200 sounds about right, maybe a bit more if youre constantly moving never allowing your body to rest.

    Proper racquet throwing technique

Or you could put fear into your opponents by acing them? ...Ooooor trying to peg them? Nah, let's break a tennis racquet instead, you're right!

    running a mile

Sorry, but since you didn't beat around the bush during your question, I won't beat around the bush in mine. Your mile time is not good. What can you do to solve this? A healthy lifestyle paired up with running more than a mile every day.

    Privates or drills?

I don't see the point in private lessons. A person I know took private lessons for over a year, and I played at the local Fitness Center for 2 months, once a week, and beat him (with no prior tennis experience). Private lessons don't teach you anything you can't teach yourself.

    teaching my girlfriend to play...

I would advise against it - since the qualities of a good teacher and a good boyfriend usually don't match. And yes, I am being completly serious here.

Perfect Pushup Invented by Navy seals, does it work ?

I've invented the perfect situp. But to do it while unprepared would break 4 of your ribs, minimum. And to get prepared you have to achieve an age of 200 years. To figure out how to do it however - just pay me $10.

    Serve: netting vs hitting long/wide

:P I always aim further not higher when doing flat serves, which almost always go in, and higher with more naturally applied spin when doing slice serves. Therefore even though both seem to always come close to hitting the net, when they do go in they're beautiful and make me proud I got em in...

    Controlling ball direction

I'm going with A. In my opinion beautiful and fun tennis shots are what tennis is all about, so I like the ones that even if my opponent can read them - he can't get to them due to the previous shot moving him to the completely other side of the court, and the amount of topspin, depth, speed...

    how to be 15lbs lighter????

My body must defy logic, I lost 10-15 pounds last week in a week of just dieting, cardio, and crankiness for lack of unhealthy food  After a month or so of keeping this weight and doing endurance training I'll start actually eating lots of calories a day, like yummy salads and...

    winter workouts?

Weight Lifting for half an hour -> an hour. Cardio for half an hour on some machine or run laps in a gym if they have the upstairs lap thing that most health complexes have. Do this once every two days, and do pushups/situps every single day. If you can't go to the gym, get barbells, a...

    Serve question

:P I've never thought of this...huh. I always throw and then bend, because my opinion is that the less time you have to bend/jump, the more momentum you gain and higher you go, and I throw pretty high, so I have enough time as it is. I guess you go do it with knees bent too before throwing...

    Seriously: Dealing with nervousness

Some of the worst suggestions ever. Thinking of other worries will make you lose confidence in yourself. Keeping yourself occupied will make you lose focus of your opponent. Listening to music will make you unaware to the game and unfocused to how you hit. Drinking red bull will...

I HATE playing in cold weather

Oh, this just reminded me, school tennis tryouts last year were done outside while there was still snow on the courts. Easiest way to win: Hit a long one to the baseline, then a dropshop towards the next, where there's a puddle of snow which makes the ball just stop and not bounce once :).

I HATE playing in cold weather

If I played someone worse than me, and I had a tennis racquet in the shape of a barbie doll, I would still beat them :)

    how to be 15lbs lighter????

Don't think 1 month is urgently. You can lose 15 pounds in a week with nothing but cardio, healthy diet, and sleeping enough every day, however 1 week isn't "urgent" either. Oh well, I'm guessing the time frame he considered "urgent" already passed by today.

Why is it "useless" to life everyday?

:P 72 is a bit too much for me, but you need a minimum of 48, so life once every other day. If you're having a bad day, I'd say first eat something, take an hour-long nap, then do some cardio, and see if you're feeling any better. My opinion is that there's no reason to do lifting if you're...

    Seriously: Dealing with nervousness

:P Get into the confident and calm mindset. The way I do this is that I pinch myself in one spot every single time I catch myself doubting my abilities. If you don't go easy on yourself, after 5 minutes and burning red pain on your arm you'll be ready to play :)

    Lasting for 6 months...

:P Oh my god, if only that was possible. If I heard news that days now last 4 more hours, and I'm assigned some professional rallying partner for 6 months, I would quite literally have an orgasm. As for injuries, never gotten one in tennis before :) I play for fun and to improve my game...

I HATE playing in cold weather

Seriously, you guys are complaining about the strings? Wow, if you're having issues due to that you really need to improve your game. A true tennis player should be able to win against someone weaker than him regardless of racquet, let alone strings.

Don't worry, everyone's done it. If they haven't they obviously don't know how to play tennis.

I HATE playing in cold weather

Ok, never mind, just recheked what the temperatures feel like. 50 F I'll play any day, with a shirt, sweater, and shorts on, and I'll be fine. 40 I'll have sweatpants, shirt, one of those light sweaters, and heavy sweaters. 40- I'll play as long as it's above 0 C, no wind, and sunny outside...
