Djokovic can already become the GOAT in the next slam

Fed did rack up 12 slams during a weak era, so when you subtract that from his total, you get 8 real majors. So Novak winning the French would be monumental because he won the NCYGS twice (one thing Fed didn't do) and won 16 majors, which is Fed's 8 real majors times 2/twice. Thanks for your...

A proposal to correct past players' GS tally

Great list, you should consider adjusting for slams missed due to injury as well, which would give Pete at least 15, though as high as 20.

A big pie in the face of "weak era" theorists!

So your argument is essentially: this era is pathetically weak, therefore Fed's era must be good! And also, Fed won zero slams this year, went out to Tsonga IIRC, so what does that say about him?

Federer has the highest peak ever

He was in god mode because he was playing mental Smurfs. Even Annacone said Fed never really needed to develope a game plan because no great playera emerged after Sampras and Agassi retired.

The factors that weigh in the GOAT debate.

1,2,4 are subjective perceptions created by Fed's genuine talent and Nike's big bucks, as well as a legion of "journalists" who wish they could be athletes. 3 is due to homogenization, once Nole or Nadal break the slam record nobody will much care that Fed made 4th place 23 times in a row.

What would be best for tennis

I think @KINGROGER will take up that mantle in time.

Federer has the highest peak ever

Lol funny that this mythically good peak Fed disappeared once his cupcake rivals retired, grew up or gave up.

Prime Nadal vs Prime Sampras at the French Open - Only Sampras Serves - Who Wins?

Lol and Sampras fans are supposed to be the worst, you see insulting threads like this specifically meant to demean Pete and wonder why certain Sampras fans become embittered. But back to the OP, I'll answer the "question" with one of my own. Federer v Nadal in a *hardcourt* major, only Federer...

2010 Us Open vs Federer.. Djoker most focused match

Novak played well and deserved the win, especially with how he saved a match point with a crazy swinging forehand volley, but Fed also wussed out because he was more Afraiderer of losing to Nadal in the next round than losing to someone he thought he had under his thumb at the time. Big mistake...

Djokovic can already become the GOAT in the next slam

Federer had the advantage of establishing mental and h2h dominance over a young, inexperienced Nole, which more than balances out the wins Nole picked up against a very well established, ATG 30 and up year old Fed. The embarassment isn't so much the record itself, its more what it shows: Fed is...

For me, Fed has surpassed Jordan, Brady and Gretzky

I don't think those guys were consistently owned by their rivals though

    H2Hs explained

Basically, if Federer has a losing record, there's a multitude of excuses as to why.

    Unbroken Sampras Records

I imagine this will be the general consensus towards Federer's "amazing" streaks once Nole surpasses his slam count. Heck most people don't mention them that much anymore already.

Why is Novak's ground game better than Fed's?

Life suddenly has meaning again, amirite or amirite?

Why is Novak's ground game better than Fed's?

An easy putaway is any volley that floats, or that is hit near to Federer so all he has to do is use his great hands to deal with it. Maybe that's a bit harsh, but I think, true. A difficult volley, one that would show him to be a true all courter is one that requires a good approach and...

Why is Novak's ground game better than Fed's?

The only one smoking something must be you if you think that one gutsy point equals all court play. Fed got passed left and right on points where he had to actually vollry something that wasn't an easy putaway.
  17. P

Why is Novak's ground game better than Fed's?

Prime Nole got to that point because he challenged and beat Fed on numerous occasions either before his prime or as their primes overlapped.

    Unbroken Sampras Records

I believe the major one left is the 6 consecutive Year End #1s. I thought I read on here recently he had most number of consecutive years winning at least 1 slam, but that can't be right, Pete went from 93-2000 winning at least 1 slam, while Fed did from 03-10, unless I'm missing something...

Why is Novak's ground game better than Fed's?

And with Fed racking up wins and mental edge against pre-prime Nole, who broke through that and reversed it. I think it would just take a few tight matches to go Novak's way if they met prime for prime and Fed would become his pigeon like he did with Nadal.

Why is Novak's ground game better than Fed's?

Its why he went 0-2 in Wimbledon finals v Nole (who in 14 was mentally shaken by Nadal and very vulnerable in that final). Up to Sampras's standards? Please. Pete's instincts are leagues ahead of Fed's.
  21. P

Why is Novak's ground game better than Fed's?

Correct, that would be when he had a forehand, and just lacked a backhand, net game, stamina and mental strength. Invincibility incarnate. 05 onwards would be spinny forehand Roddick with no backhand. Thx
  22. P

Why is Novak's ground game better than Fed's?

Saw them all. I also saw how many easy volleys he missed with regularity. 14/15 period approaches and volleys were decent, but he often got passed left and right by Nole because he was too predictable and didn't set the point up well.
  23. P

Why is Novak's ground game better than Fed's?

Fed is beautiful, smooth, intelligent, and a brilliant shotmaker who has mastered all the strokes in the game (though his backhand is weaker than people admit). I still don't think of him as an all-courter like say, Connors, who relentlessly attacked his opponents, and fearlessly came in and...

Why is Novak's ground game better than Fed's?

Tsitsipas played more all-court tennis in his R4 win over Roger than I've seen Roger play in any match at Wimbledon or the Us Open since '04.
  25. P

Why Sampras wasn't as dominant as Federer ?

And volleys, overhead, running forehand, transition game, mental strength. Basically

Djokovic is closer to Federer than Nadal is

You pick the one match Roddick won against Federer, not just on hard, but on anything, during the Weak era. Quaint.
  27. P

Why is Novak's ground game better than Fed's?

I think Nole would win a clear majority of tight matches. Fed has the level to go toe to toe with him, but as we know, is weak in the tight moments against his rivals when it matters most. I'd say 65-35 Nole.
  28. P

Djokovic is closer to Federer than Nadal is

I assume you watched Roddick on hard courts during the Weak Era, correct? If not, have a gander. Honestly, his grass performance against Fed in 2005 was pitiable. Rushing the net Kamikaze style off the worst approach shots on record, standing so close to the net he was in danger of touching it...
