    Respect from Roger

Roger is the man, expected a warm statement from him, and he delivered - would love to see them battle it out in one more slam final - got to see one Fed-Nadal match in Cinci (a very close Rafa win) and will never forget it

Gilbert calling this the biggest match of the open era

i’m not ruling out 1 last W or USO for Fed - Sampras had looked like garbage on and off for a while when he won his last USO (second round loss to LL Bastl at Wimbledon before that) - the greats often have one last run up their sleeve

Gilbert calling this the biggest match of the open era

will be remembered for a long time - Nadal ties Fed for most accomplished men’s player of all time, in dominant fashion, against the world number 1 and his most difficult opponent Djoko has his work cut out for him over the next couple years - I suspect he’ll have to get to 22 if he wants to...

    JJ Wolf is legit good

fast indoor hard courts is his jam, he’s not the qualifier you want to see across the net

Gilbert calling this the biggest match of the open era

I’m with you that it won’t ultimately be the most important match, there will likely be another in a year or so between some combo of Fed-Nadal-Djoko but I cannot point to a previous match with more important men’s tennis implications - so for now, I’d agree with Gilbert

Gilbert calling this the biggest match of the open era

well, presentism may be appropriate here, since the GS race is being decided presently it’s not like these guys are battling for fifth place on the all-time GS list, they’re deciding the most accomplished men’s tennis player ever, right now and over the next couple years

2020 Roland Garros Final: [54] Iga 'Silent Terminator’ Swiatek vs [4] Sofia ‘Crazy Dad’ Kenin

well, you both are probably kind of right the forehand is clearly her biggest weapon, in my eyes, and i suspect most eyes but her ability to hit the BH DTL very well forces players to hit to her forehand - ie she doesnt allow folks like Kenin to make the match about XC backhands - she can...

2020 Roland Garros Final: [54] Iga 'Silent Terminator’ Swiatek vs [4] Sofia ‘Crazy Dad’ Kenin

amazing performance, seems like a lovely person and a hell of a tennis player, looking forward to seeing her on big stages a lot more in the future

2020 Roland Garros Final: [54] Iga 'Silent Terminator’ Swiatek vs [4] Sofia ‘Crazy Dad’ Kenin

Swiatek is going to gain a lot of fans with the way she's handling herself in this final - her forehand and mental stability (props on having a dedicated sports psychologist that travels with her, clearly she understands the importance of that aspect of the game) should win her several GS titles

2020 Roland Garros Final: [54] Iga 'Silent Terminator’ Swiatek vs [4] Sofia ‘Crazy Dad’ Kenin

the ATP and the WTA must adopt the college tennis policy of dropping a point any time you take a MTO players still do it, but starting the next game down 0-15 at least imposes a penalty and makes people think twice about abusing the system right now it's a freely abused system, getting worse...

Gilbert calling this the biggest match of the open era

yep, anyone denying that this match is historic is either delusional or a devout Fed fan who thinks he’s still going to be considered the GOAT when he no longer leads the slam race they both have a tremendous amount to gain with a win (Nadal would become co-GOAT for now by way of a win against...

Gilbert calling this the biggest match of the open era

agree, but i think the same will be said of any GS final that involves any combination of Fed-Nadal-Djoko, from now until they hang up their sticks every final involving that combo has massive implications for the GOAT title (which to me is synonymous for most GS titles, no other criteria in my...

Rafa won’t face a top 70 player until the semis

yes, would’ve lost 1-2 games a set, agree who is next for Djoko again? probably a guy who has won 9 games in his 5 sets against Nadal this year...tough draw for sure

Rafa won’t face a top 70 player until the semis

it's also perhaps worth commenting that sinner's current live ranking is 46 https://live-tennis.eu/en/atp-live-ranking i get it, the next ranking hasn't been published yet, but in real time he's playing a top 50 player in the quarters then he'll play a top 10 elite clay courter (either Thiem...

Rafa won’t face a top 70 player until the semis

Diego is in his half, not Djoko’s - same for Thiem - I have zero issue continuing to state the obvious, that his half is tougher than Novak’s

    JJ Wolf is legit good

Dude is just being a pest if his point that he wants to shove down our throats is that there’s not a 100% guarantee Wolf and his ranking will continue to improve, you win, great contribution! there’s an overwhelming chance he will

    JJ Wolf is legit good

he’s barely played on tour so far and is already ranked 120, it’s a fairly obvious assumption he’ll be able to get that ranking up a bit more to be in GS main draws automatically describing his run to the third round of the us open as potentially just getting lucky tells me all I need to know...

    JJ Wolf is legit good

he has a lot of cool factoids: up there with the biggest servers in the short man club won NCAA singles as a #2 player (Benedikt Dorsch played 1) ended Agassi’s career
  22. M

    JJ Wolf is legit good

wouldn’t have expected him to make it through RG qualifying at this point with his style, but in 6 more months his ranking will be a tiny bit higher and he’ll be done with GS qualifying matches

Bublik accidentally hit a ball girl.

lol, yes people get hit during the normal course of play sometimes I love this thread - I thought Djoko’s fans had maybe gotten over his costly USO event, and I’m so glad to know they still haven’t and yes Bublik handled this very well, nice!

    Big 10 Tennis

I’m staying out of this one, since I basically got accused of being a KKK member who should be fired from his job for suggesting Duke basketball players weren’t valedictorians with 2350 SATs a couple weeks ago.

big final for both women Bouchard would move from 163 —> 136 with the win Tig would move from 64 —> 58 with the win, would pass Pegula who has herself had an awesome recent stretch either way, congrats to Bouchard for actually grinding through qualifying and well into the main draw this week...
