Is Mohamed Lahyani the greatest coach of all time?

I’ve always liked the guy, but I assume he’s umpired his last match. Giving a pep talk to a player? Kyrgios is a complete buffoon, and Lahyani probably had the best interests of tennis in mind. Still, that just isn’t OK. The ATP and slams should lower the boom on Kyrgios when he tanks.

A Tennis Shot Clock? Yay or nay?

Is this true? Bouncing the ball is part of the Serve motion? That’s ridiculous. If nothing else, the rule should be based on the racquet hitting the ball.

Strategies for playing in extreme heat

Article in the NY Times a few years ago had the nearly instant cure for cramping: drink water with a dash (Tbl?) of vinegar in it. I used to get terrible cramps at night after long matches, and this remedy stops them almost instantly. Don’t even have to drink the whole glass of water. One or two...

    Water Abuse

I always assumed this was the case but never looked up confirmation. Drinking cold fluids is the top priority, but pouring ice water over my head certainly seems to help during the dreaded Summer afternoon matches down here in Florida.

    Good Tennis Balls for Practice

The new Wilson Ultra All Court balls maintain pressure / playability a lot longer than the (previously) top of the line ProPenn and Wilson. I’m surprised at how much an improvement they are.

Why Didn't Lleyton Hewitt Have as Many Fans?

This got 5 “Likes”? Is it all tongue-in-cheek? If someone honestly believes this, does he automatically repeat the “Fake News” farce (which is almost always demonstrably dead wrong), and the ridiculous “Deep State” paranoia? Are alien abductions and black helicopters still major concerns, or...

Federer Holds the Racket on the Same Side Every Time !

Got 2 sticks restrung and found the stencil one one was backwards, and the stencil on the other was much heavier. Lost my match that night bc the hoop weighting on the 1st stick was reversed, PLUS I couldn't hit the ball right on the boundary of stenciled v clean string as I always do. Hence...

Finally encountered a "Come on!" in rec tennis

That "Thank you" after a DF is BS and unsportsmanlike unless opponent is a friend. That said, you could make sure to thank him after each of his UEs. He'd get the message, and I bet it'd get in his head. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Ultimate Tennis question

Varies a lot. Most seasons I've played guys in their 30s and 40s and saw a guy in his 60s one time in the course of 4-5 seasons. A year ago I had 3 guys in their 20s. The ones who didn't have much game ran everything down and had the temerity to return many of my winners! Biggest issue with 4.0...

    New frames this summer/fall?

My demand for a DR98 18x20 would be absolute. Seems like a dream racquet bc the 16x19 has too much power for me. Of course, the Ultra Tour has me chomping at the bit. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Optimal grip for racquet smashing?

Finally a thread in which I'm an expert! Almost all my racquet smashes have been with Conti grip. Very (momentarily) satisfying impact whether at 10 / 2 on the court or a solid netpost smash at 3 / 9. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Flat strokes benefit from spin string?

THIS, THIS, THIS!! Also, I'd hit with multis for a while bf I went down the poly trail. Your strokes generate the spin, so working on them is far and away most important. Poly strings can enhance it, but there can be major trade offs. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Two doubles questions

At 3.5 level (M or W) there's plenty of time to look back, and much the same at low to mid 4.0. Player at net with partner serving should be facing opposing net player (not facing net or returner), so probably can see or at very least glance at partner anyway. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Enforcing Tennis Rules and Etiquette; How to Decide

Who in the world would object to measuring the net bf a match? Nobody. No controversy would've been raised and the rule isn't subject to interpretation. Is this a troll thread or for real?
