    Djokovic Practice

I’m not a Djokovic fan but I’m a Djokovic “appreciator”. The guy is a machine. And he is fit. While in this state it will be interesting to see who can stop him. FO will tell us a lot...

    Djokovic Practice

I just wanted to share this high quality practice session I just witnessed. Unbelievable concentration levels by Novak. Look at the start and his use and mechanics of the off-arm. As a tennis fan, I have to say this is one on of the best quality practice sessions I’ve seen. Thoughts?

    visualization training

I agree with this. I often visualize, and actually I found one of the best times to train is in my sleep where you get to think about a shot, the motions, picturing yourself there. Feeling the ball, swing, etc. I have a similar FH grip to Novak's, extreme SW. So I frequently practice change...

This is not just a victory for Jason Jung but a victory for TTTW!! Team effort! What great play and his strategy was so mature. Absolutely delighted for him

How to break habit of changing grips on volleys instead of staying with Continental grip?

When you need to make a change like a grip for a shot, it’s a BIG change. You need to make it muscle memory and this can take hundreds, thousands of repititions. But BEFORE you do that you need to know what you’re striving for. What does a backhand volley with continental feel like? Look like...

Whats your opinion on variety in tennis?

Sorry I was being facetious. You are right. I remember Uncle Toni saying about Nadal - his strongest shot is the FH. The BH is ok. (relatively speaking of course) But it's ok to have an ok BH, with the focus being his strength - his FH.

Whats your opinion on variety in tennis?

Variety is all good, but the more shots you have in your locker, the more type of shots you have to choose from in your split-second decision making....which can sometimes go against you. So I'd be weary of that... but otherwise, yeah keep the fun in the tennis!

Dear Dads and Mums, how old was your daughter/son when...

Yeah I'm going to need to find the right balance, and I'm reluctant to teach anything, will probably go with the "fun coach" approach. Thanks! (y)

Dear Dads and Mums, how old was your daughter/son when...

...you first introduced her/him to the world of tennis? What was your method for teaching/coaching? Did you do it yourself? Or did you delegate that to a more professional coach? What were the challenges? Thanks and happy Valentines!

    Trophy hunters !!

Thousands? Do you know why they are allowed it? Are there too many? I'm not justifying it, I'm trying to understand why. I was listening to Joe Rogan and he's a big hunter. He is an "ethical" hunter and was explaining that he hunts beer and it's ok to do in certain areas because otherwise...

FiReFTW vs J011yroger best of 3 - predict the scoreline

J is ready to apply for his pension. You are part of the new golden generation. Due to you having lack of match play and J increasing the head size of his racket by 2 inches to make up for his increasing shanks at old age, I predict him to beat you 6-1, 6-3. Match play is a different world...

    Recurring Pain Above Elbow

I've been having arm issues for a while now. I thought I had tennis elbow in the summer but it now appears its just my tendons throughout the arm. For the last 6 months I've had a pain with a tendon near my tricep muscle which has eased, but now I have some pain around my forearm.

For me, Fed has surpassed Jordan, Brady and Gretzky

Thanks for that. I got that impression. It’s an amazing feat. He is pretty clean too right and can see him as a great role model. If Djokovic and Nadal fail to meet or even overtake Federer’s achievements I can see his lasting for a LONG time. But we had that feeling with Sampras didn’t we...

I'm no NFL mastermind, but I have a feeling Brady's achievements are right up there with Federer's in tennis - who is close in the NFL world?

How to get the "click" on super topspin shots?

+1 I too had that pleasure, and the "brush" sound is more amplified and palpable than from what you hear on the television. For me, it's the "brush" sound that identifies the level of top spin.

    [video] 5.5 vs. 4.5 lesson

I know what you mean here. I played last night. Opponent was a good technical pusher. He surprised me with his consistency. I started making a few too many UE playing with some aggression. He won the first set 6-2. So I put the breaks on. Accepted I had to win points on his terms. Moved him...
