I see that too. Baseline players that never come to the net for fear of getting hit by opponents baseline shot. Should not happen because it's practically impossible to get hurt in that scenario if opponent is playing at the same level.

I see many players with a fear of being hit at the net. Not sure why. Sure on an opponents overhead you can possibly get hurt, but you usually have time to take cover from an overhead if necessary, but I don't see the danger in getting hit with a volley. I've never really seen anyone Get...

True... If I could control my volley, that would be a great place to aim for. Close to the body on opponents Forehand side.

3.0 Most will switch grips on volley and it is commonly taught that way... Very workable at this level as pace is generally slower. I see many players with pretty decent reflexes as they switch grips on fast volley exchanges. 4.0 Players will try to progress to continental grip for all volleys...

Were these reflex volleys with both players up at net? Sands was doing the volley to volley drill at the net.Really crushing it at close range. In certain situations, like FH body close to body, she wants rec players to switch grips on those bang bang volleys. She says it's difficult but...

Have been studying the New Green Deal. Zero emissions is the goal for gassy cows within 10 years. Sad for Airplanes. Sad for The Drop Volley. :( “We set a goal to get to net-zero, rather than zero emissions, in 10 years because we aren’t sure that we’ll be able to fully get rid of farting...

Hitting a good volley is like punching someone in the nose – at least that is the gospel from Rod Laver, who executed the stroke to near perfection while becoming the only player in the history of tennis to win the Grand Slam on two occasions (1962, 1969). In his updated and re-released...

isnt this a weird explanation of the kick serve by Philippousis?

I would put them on their knees. Forces them to get the toss correct -- over their head. If they open up to slice, it won't go over the net.

I think the key is that Rafter transfers the weight with his legs. So at contact his legs are in the air. Arms have to do virtually nothing... I think Sampras? said, "Volley with your feet".

isnt this a weird explanation of the kick serve by Philippousis?

Sounds like if someone can hit slice, they are close to hitting topspin. All they need to do is to change the toss and brush up with a more sideways left-to-right swing path.

    Latest Colonoscopy Guidelines

That doesn't sound right. The recent new guidelines in the U.S. have dropped from age 50 to age 45 for average risk. "The American Cancer Society has published new guidelines on colorectal cancer screening, decreasing the average age to start screening from 50 to 45 for average-risk adults."

isnt this a weird explanation of the kick serve by Philippousis?

I like his video. Could have been better if he stressed sideways swing path. His shadow swing looks like he's opening up way too much.

isnt this a weird explanation of the kick serve by Philippousis?

He is definitely swinging left to right when he hits a real serve, just like other vids teach. His shadow explanation also adds the upside down "U" and hitting the "bottom" of the ball. Don't know if that is just an image to picture or if it is actually happening like that, but picturing the...

How to break habit of changing grips on volleys instead of staying with Continental grip?

Has Chris agreed to be the defensive player in that drill? She is drilling her volleys hard at him but I don't see Chris returning the favor. Or maybe they start the drill on equal footing and pick up the pace gradually but Chris can't keep up with her volley pace and ends up being defensive...

How to break habit of changing grips on volleys instead of staying with Continental grip?

If I understand her correctly, Chris from TW was using the same grip on both sides which she agrees makes sense most of the time. MBS tells Chris that he was struggling with FH volleys close to the body. MBS says he will never get the face correct with that grip on body FH volley. It sounds...

How to break habit of changing grips on volleys instead of staying with Continental grip?

IMO, for bang-bang volley exchanges at net, it is tough to switch grips. Furthermore, it is not necessary to change grips to open up the face. I find it easier and natural to just open up the racquet face for low balls, while maintaining the same grip.

Why can't these people just shut off their phones? Or configure their phones so that 911 alerts are not accepted?... Can't believe people are stupid enough to actually dial 911 to complain about the Amber Alert. Don't they know 911 is only for emergencies? That just jams up the 911 line and...

How to break habit of changing grips on volleys instead of staying with Continental grip?

Will have to try it out...More info from Florian vid: Roger of course has a solid backhand volley, however it is his slightly weaker side at the net. His forehand volley is more stable due to a few technical factors. I believe from these videos, even though it is almost impossible to say...

How to break habit of changing grips on volleys instead of staying with Continental grip?

I am not good at recognizing grips but Florian concurs with you. Says he's using a 2.5 on FH and as a result his BH volley is relatively weak. This makes sense as 2.5 will compromise the BH side as the face will be too open... Also notice that Fed has more of a straight arm at contact on BH...
