I wouldn't consider him a late bloomer. He was a top player by the time he was in his early 20's and he stayed near the top for years. He did get even better by his mid 20's though.

I don't know, some of those Alabama teams in the last 15 years or so were loaded too, with some undefeated seasons. This LSU team was impressive though. Great season no doubt.
