Lynx Tour 16g would probably be a great string in the TC100. Feels great (and looks great), and not very powerful.

If you hit with it once for an hour or two and manage to keep the bumper clean without any scratches what would you sell it for?

Yes, buy and sell, or try and find someone in your local area and see if they'll let you hit with theirs. Many bigger cities have a Facebook tennis group that could work well for this. Angell rackets hold their value really well on the for-sale section here. If you bought a brand new racket and...

It might depend on what you mean by "cut through". I replaced my grommets for the first time a few weeks ago and yeah, they showed some wear and mild burnt-grooving and the tie-off holes were a little mashed in but nothing out of the ordinary. This was after about 6 months of consistent 3-4x a...

Getting towards the end of my reel of BK 18g and want to start thinking of some new combos to put it up against before I pull the trigger on another reel. I play the V3 TC97 18x20. All court game, prefer string to help me out with generating additional spin and am fine with some free power as...

Great review. I play with a TC97 18x20 and agree with pretty much every aspect of your review. Sorry to hear about the string issue. I play with 18g Tier 1 Black Knight (poly) and don't have any wear issues. I am usually cutting it out by choice around the 12-15 hour mark, and I play with a...

    Diary of a Racketaholic

I really like that YouTube channel. As for MEP in particular, I read somewhere that he actually had a really bad injury of some kind that made his right arm semi-useless. He was actually a right-handed player that had to teach himself how to play left-handed. Tennis is by far my favorite hobby...

Unstrung SW of 27in frames are usually 295, if I remember correctly 1/2in adds 10pts so your unstrung SW is likely around 305. Will be 335-340 after stringing.

Is the Cyan a brand new frame, or just the ASL line repainted to bring it into this new consolidated K-Series? While I don't play with extended frames, I think the ability to now get an XL K7 Red or Lime is great.

    Timeline for racquet-caused injury

Tension that low (I play at 47lbs myself) shouldn't be causing issues. The frame may be exposing technique issues on your forehand or serve.

    Timeline for racquet-caused injury

Sorry to hear that happened. The first tennis "luxury" I afforded myself once I had a job and was making a little money was to always play with fresh overgrips. Rarely do I play on one for more than 3 hours. It boggles my mind that people play until a white overgrip turns black, and then keep on...

The other really big thing is balance. Once it's strung the blade is very close to being even-balanced, much like a radical. Depending on how you like your specs on an Angell, you would have to add a fair bit of weight to a blade to get it equivilant.

Yeah, I have to be real "strategic" when I buy stuff. Try and lump as much stuff as possible inside of one $50 shipping fee. But I don't complain that it gets to me in 2 days :)

I play with 18g Black Knight and none of my grommets have cut, but the tie off holes look a little worse for wear. I'm more worried about not noticing that the bumper guard has worn through and scrapes are now going against the frame instead of the grommet plastic. I've thought about getting...

Sale or not I'll probably order grommets around New Year's. How often does everyone here replace them? I've actually never done it before on previously owned rackets, but because Angell grommets are softer/scuff easier I'm thinking twice a year? Plus new grommets feel like detailing your car...

Rider, glad to help. For your wrist issue, that is a lot of tennis in three weeks - I'm jealous :). Is that more than normal, or have you been playing that much, consistently, for awhile? Any big jump in playing time could create a wrist injury like that, no matter the frame. Also, how many...

Mine weighed 332-333g strung with overgrip (5g) and dampner (1g). SW of empty frame is 295, so strung SW is around 325. Never measured ending balance, but probably in the neighborhood of 5 or 6 points HL. String does vary in weight. I string with 1.20 or 1.18 gauge poly which weighs apx 16-17g...

Completely agree, and I had never really paid attention to the "8 mains in the throat" until really getting into this thread where everyone was/is wishing for Angell to do it one day. I actually stumbled upon my customization because stock the PSv1 was twisting on off center shots which I...

I think your strokes look great for only being 2 years old. Like a few others have commented, your stroke production on both sides looks good, but your weight transfer can get much better. There are some really good YouTube channels that can help with this. TopTennisTraining and TennisHaus are...

You sound almost exactly like me! I came to Angell from my modified Pure Strike v1's. I put a leather grip on my pure strikes and then 4in lead strips at 12,3,9 balanced out with an additional 6 4in strips under the leather grip to keep the balance point the same. After all that my Pure Strikes...

I play the 97 18x20. Launch angle will be lower for sure, but I think it's plenty powerful. You might have to fool around with tension to find the right power level for you. For me, it's Black Knight 18g at 47lbs

The K7 Red might fit really well. Especially if you're ok adding a little lead if you feel like it needs it.

Testing frames? Strings choice is crucial!

I agree, it's tough. I'll say though, that demoing is still valuable to do. Even if string setup isn't ideal you can usually still tell if the weight, balance, feel of the racket in general will be a good fit or not. I think thru tennis warehouse you can request string type and tension in demos...

Do you physically feel the loss of snapback?

I becomes obvious when my same shots (even if they feel good) don't have the same amount of spin. My strokes don't naturally produce a ton of spin, so when I lose the help from the strings I know it's time to get back on the stringing machine.

Alright guys, how much do y'all spend on strings per year (not stringing, just strings)

A reel will usually last me about a year if I'm playing regularly and only using my primary rackets. As opposed to using the reel to string some of my others for random novelty hitting. Just bought a reel of Tier 1 Black Knight for apx $100. I spend more on grip per year than string. I hate...

I would say that if you go with the Angell 16x19 and (for now) keep your same string and tension then the transition would indeed be pretty easy. Are you intending to order specs pretty close to the pure strike? That is where the bigger differences will come in. If you order something that is...
