What is the greatest novel you've ever read?

i meant, out of those i read (past childhood) they were among the least philosophical ones as later i drifted even more into philosophy cheers there are so many philosophical novels out there, like The Magic Mountain, The Glass Beads Game, The Physicists, ...

What is the greatest novel you've ever read?

out of the non-philosophical works i enjoyed Great Expectations and Crime & Punishment most, but many great novels are closer to philosophical textbooks. the Historical novels, like Peace & War or Boodenbruiks were not so my liking

Do you have a lot of stuff??

that's the logical thing, but nowadays many or most people possess a lot of stuff they hardly use or never use or can't find if they need it, or can't even remember what they possess, lol.

Nadal's abdominal muscle tear at USO 2009, from 6 to 26 mm

DJ has played 3.5 bo5 matches with this supposed tear. in any cenario, he will be completely recovered and have had time to practice comes Monte Carlo.

Nadal's abdominal muscle tear at USO 2009, from 6 to 26 mm

for a usual medium severe tear like he claims it is, a normal recovery time is about 6 weeks, and one could play already earlier, just not at one's best.

    Beating Novak at WTF

seems like a combination of factors in this case. the bo3 format makes it easier for the younger players and these indoor conditions being good for big servers further levels the field. this wasn't such a big deal for the younger DJ, but he's aging and at the end of the season feels this even...

Guga says that Federer and Nadal have an unfair longevity advantage due to advancement in "medicine and sports science"

i have that same problem. well, evolutionary it's the opposite of a problem. we require less food than other people. nominally that's awesome.

Guga says that Federer and Nadal have an unfair longevity advantage due to advancement in "medicine and sports science"

true, but his parents (who happened to work for the pharmaceutic industry) know how to balance his metabolism at a professional level.

Players taller than 192 cm: how they fared in slam final(e)s.

but why is that? of course more tall people exist today, but they are still much overrepresented in pro tennis. there is a strong trend. on the one hand do i agree that Zverev is overrated, on the other hand has he made the USO final recently and was stopped only last minute by the Clark Kent...

    Rate the 2021 Australian Open

of course i'm glad that the event took place at all, but the limitations can still only count as deductions in such a scoring. deductions for the atmosphere (though better than last year, hehe). deductions for Thiem's injury exit. deductions for faker's injury fake (it's getting old)...

Tennis is about 4 events only

it doesn't have to be all or nothing. i regard the Tour Finals and Olympics to be worth one third of a Slam.

Best of 5 sets should stay forever

ah, so now there is no problem and no argument at all since they determined this 100 years ago and that's it.

Best of 5 sets should stay forever

^ it's justified to ask how big the big events need to be and why, given that the regular events are considered fine already and that there's a big time gap between bo3 and bo5
  19. van_Loederen

Best of 5 sets should stay forever

how is it possible that both the bo5 and the bo3 format are considered great by tennis fans, but anything inbetween is a no-go? maybe a lil bit of just conservativism in it?

Best of 5 sets should stay forever

^ your argument is poor, suggesting that the made-biggest event by duration is the ultimately biggest. just think about it for a moment
  23. van_Loederen

Best of 5 sets should stay forever

the Grand Slams are marketed as the biggest events in tennis, and with their bo5 format of course are bigger indeed. make Wimbledon bo7 to make it the ultimate olympus of tennis. already with (classical) bo5 we are talking about a frikking 4-hours show, naturally suboptimal for spectators...

Best of 5 sets should stay forever

there are variants possible, bo3 with 8-9 games or bo5 with 5 games, though i prefer prolonging bo3

A.I. and the "4th Industrial Revolution"

^ yeah, residents may prefer the windpark-solarroof solution in the end. all-in-all hardly or barely more expensive, and costs are shared and staggered. ugly they are in daylight, but at night may make one sleep more tightly

A.I. and the "4th Industrial Revolution"

all true, you should reach out to your local authorities and have some referendum so that the power plant can be built right in your neighborhood asap to provide y'all with cheap energy!
