I’m not too ashamed to admit...

Unless your tension head moves around like the Pro stringer you must turn the racket / turntable for every cross When you apply tension. If after pulling tension you weave a cross without turning the racket you will have the minimum.

Don’t tell anyone you have to turn the racket to pull tension.

Use an ATW pattern. Weaving in one direction is a hard weave - use my string method which only works 1 way. Weaving in the other direction is a piece of cake since you‘re weaving the same way as the tensioned cross above and below it.

    Did i kill my strings?

So you didn’t cut the strings too short you used the wrong half. Did you kill your strings? That depends on who you talk to. Some people call that pre-stretching. I call it stretching the life out of poly. Now you know you don’t like pre-stretched poly. You may also very well like you poly at a...

    clamp recommendations?

Unless I’m mistaken only the clamping surfaces of the KM clamp is metal and the metal surface is fixed to a plastic part. This offers a lot more give so the KM clamp needs to be very tight or it slips. The claws are solid cast aluminum so there is little give which holds the string with less...

    clamp recommendations?

What do you mean by curved? My claws’ jaws are angled but straight. The clamping surfaces are angled so they can clamp strings are variable distances without distorting the string while they are clamped. They are curved on the top outside but not on the gripping jaws themselves.

    How to start multifilament/syn gut

It could be your clamp is dropping before you pull tension. In that case your string is pulling up through the clamp at an angle pulling the string out. Holding the clamp up should help.

    How to start multifilament/syn gut

I offer some suggestion but I’m not sure what starting method you’re using. Those clamps look like they have a lot of string debris in them I would. I’s take them apart and clean them with my wife’s tooth brush and 91% alcohol.

Balance for 25 junior rackets , all HH?

@Steve Huff is right. 25” rackets are going to be light rackets and an even balance for an 8 oz would be 31.75 cm. That means the inertia (SW) added for the 10 cm axis would only be about 106 SW points. And you add that to the rackets inertia at the balance point or RW To get SW. With a light...

[Drop weight] How long do you wait till clamping for non-strechy strings?

11 o’clock is turning the bar as far CCW as you can against the stop. 1 o’clock means you only raise the bar 60 degrees CCW above level. It has nothing to do with your question. Depending on how much or little the string stretches he may or may not have reached the point where the bar is level.

[knot] Which string being on top at tie-off holes -- does it matter?

When to cinch up the knot your red string could easily be lulled up goths top creating an overlap. If my red string were below the green I would move the string to the other side going under the green inside the racket and tie the knot in a little image of what you have to ensure theresas not a...

I’m not too ashamed to admit...

Nothing wrong with weaving like that as long as you’re not using the tip of the string to do it. I sometimes use that needle and thread technique for the last few crosses. i like to weave with a loop of string where the end is about 4” more than I need to reach across the frame. Push the loop...

    string weight

No need to weigh string to get the weight. RacquetTune has a database of string factors? The string factor gives you the weight of a meter of string. If the string factor is 1.40 a meter of string weighs 1.4 g, and if the string factor is 1.86 a meter of string weighs 1.86 g. if your string...

Drop weight resulting tensioning on a pull when arm is not level

It does not add up it remains the same as long as the angle is the same. The percentage of error is the same whether the arm is up or down and that percentage of error is directly proportional to the cosine of the angle. If the bar is up or down 5 degrees the cos(5) = 0.99619 and cos(-5) =...

The Official Lead Tape Placement+Racket Customization Thread

@eucebio if your racket has a high polarization it mean a lot of weight is distributed toward the head and butt of the racket instead of in the center of the racket. This gives you a high SW and plow through but because it keeps the center Of mass low you get the most bang for your buck. Meaning...

Is it possible to lower the racquet's swing weight?

I would NEVER EVER (again) cut a racket hairpin to shorten it. There is no way to return the racket to its original shape if you cut off the harpin. BUT you can effectively shorten the racket by moving the butt cap up on the hairpin. Many butt caps have small spacers built in to hold the racket...

Is it possible to lower the racquet's swing weight?

You’re assuming the SW is keeping you from accelerating the racket on serves. When serving you should be pronating you’re wrist more so than on other strokes. If you‘re not having issues with other strokes maybe your racket‘s TW is causing the problem. You’re going to find it very hard to lower...

The Official Lead Tape Placement+Racket Customization Thread

@eucebio placing 11 g at 3&9 may help you stability but it will only add half as much to SW as 12 o’clock did. Also you won’t need as much silicone to maintain balance so you racket ends up lighter making it easier to control.

The Official Lead Tape Placement+Racket Customization Thread

Physics tells us placing weight off center (3&9) will increase stability. Personally I don’t believe it. A racket is about 25 cm wide. If you place 11 g of lead 12.5 cm from center you TW goes up less than 2 points which isn’t much. So it will be slightly harder to twist the racket around the...

The 220m reel should be standard. It's time.

I have a multifilament and a poly video on YouTube for conserving string on YouTube. Search for "conserving string from reel."

The 220m reel should be standard. It's time.

8.5 racket lengths is about 19' or 9.5' per side. But I find 19' with a stiff poly for an 18 main mid plus racket is not enough string to string the mains. Using 1 length of string to string mains eliminates any waste on one side. With a starting clamp bridge I believe it is possible to string...

The 220m reel should be standard. It's time.

Use 36.4' of string with a 9' 6" short side to string mains. Using what you cut off the long side to string crosses you save 1'. If you use a starting knot for the top cross you save 9" and have plenty of string. Using 9' 6" of poly (half of 8.5 racket lengths) seems like not enough string for...
