Diadem Elevate Tour - quick Review

Yeah just half sleeve. I imagine a half sleeve to be more like the amount an overgrip will build up the size. That's why I suggested it but it's also right about the same weight.

Diadem Elevate Tour - quick Review

Exactly. But I made a point about the weight difference and it's basically not a real factor if that's your reasoning. Some overgrips will weigh more than the half grip sleeve.

Diadem Elevate Tour - quick Review

A Full size heat shrink build will be about 17-20 grams. My half size buildup was exactly 9 grams and that was on an extended length handle.

Diadem Elevate Tour - quick Review

Not really. A half size heat shrink build will be around 7-10 grams. Overgrips about 6-8 grams. And it's only weight in the handle and just a couple grams different at most and you maintain the bevel shape much better. I think it's the way to go.

Diadem Elevate Tour - quick Review

I like mine a lot but yet to try any other strings on them yet. Very versatile and stable. Stiff kinda but also comfortable. Stiff but not in a bad way just in a way you appreciate the predictability and energy transfer. That being said it's a pretty control oriented racquet that will definitely...

Diadem Elevate Tour - quick Review

Why not use heat shrink to increase grip size and maintain a lot more of the grips edge?

    Best DropWeight?

Claws? I have that stringer. Just thinking it's not a great idea to have all the stress at 6 and 12. I also struggle to get zero warping. Do you have 2 of the same racquet? If you string one and cut one of the others, line them up having the heads down on the ground and parallel to each other...

Want fixed clamps. Tried the tourna 150 CS. It's decent but I see a few options around that price range and wanted some thoughts.

    warping tennis rackets

Hey guys, still active? Having similar issues with a 6 point and my two point wouldn't do this as long as I really tightened it down. Ever use a spreader? Like the opposite of a clamp.

Theory: thicker strings better for spin

Right on. What do you know about prostock string? Is it just higher QC? Or a completely different string sometimes? How many of the top 50 pros would you say actually use a racquet or string they endorse?

Theory: thicker strings better for spin

    How do we know this?

Theory: thicker strings better for spin

I guess Rafa is pretty well documented to use 15 gauge string. However, prostock strings are a thing and I imagine his rpm blast might be different slightly than retail. I have some prostock head strings and I just have it from buying prostock racquets. Maybe the QC is higher or something at the...

Theory: thicker strings better for spin

That's an interesting answer. Although, I thought a couple players rank higher than Nadal strictly in terms of RPM but among the high rankings he certainly must be that guy. So either way I feel the point is relevant that you're making.

Theory: thicker strings better for spin

Right but thicker vs thinner vs multi/poly it's not off topic just saying basing an overarching answer like thicker means more spin but using multi as the deciding string wouldn't mean as much. That's all, I'm not getting off topic. I listened to about a third of the podcast. Might finish it...

Theory: thicker strings better for spin

Best multi huh? Interesting. I have zero interest and multi and hope this podcast is developing this theory taking considerations of material into these tests and conclusions.

Theory: thicker strings better for spin

I agree they are less tension sensitive, the thicker strings. Makes sense that they'd be less elastic or flexible. It's nice having a denser pattern and going a bit lower in tension. Changes a bit of what you thought you might have known about conventional string wisdom.

Theory: thicker strings better for spin

I'll try to check it out. My point is just that these truths have limits. Like looser strings allowing for more spin but if you go so loose that there is no tension at all, you will not get any spin. That's all I'm saying. It would be interesting to really know where the sweet spot actually is...

Theory: thicker strings better for spin

I can imagine that being the case for textures. Not necessarily smooth. And this still only works to a point. A string 30x thicker would definitely not have that effect so when does it start to be less spin than not as you go up in thickness? You know what I mean?
  22. Jay Sean

Theory: thicker strings better for spin

I totally get you. But which has more potential? Textured or not and do you think this changes the rules as to thicker vs thinner for spin?
  23. Jay Sean

Theory: thicker strings better for spin

Strings with higher tension which are also thinner could have the same effects of relative deformation while still being thinner and digging into the ball more. Thinner strings mean less drag and faster head speed. Thinner strings mean less string to string contact and more snapback. Just some...

    Tennis Warehouse: Yonex VCORE 95, 98, 100 2021 Playtest

Anyone have answers as to why Yonex frames are getting more round? Starting to wonder if they can even still call it isometric.
  25. Jay Sean

Theory: thicker strings better for spin

Don't know if anyone said it but also the thinner gauge would dig into the ball more. That could mean more grip. But some strings are shaped and you could argue that the bigger definition of the shape on said strings is going to dig in more.

    Tennis Warehouse: Yonex VCORE 95, 98, 100 2021 Playtest

True! But they modify that after and it's a different feel compared to one that is molded and cut at a different length than different materials added at the end. They use boat wood and mold material to extend. I'd prefer it just be longer oem. It also is a different stiffness. It says the...

The rubber easily moves around so it's the stress of keeping it in place. The tape I'm looking for is what I'm looking for, ya know?
