Looking to buy a new racket- looking for suggestions

I would try the Pure Drive Tour for sure and the Blade 98 16x19. You might also like the Head Radical Pro but some have commented on its overpowered nature so be wary of that. There aren't many others in that same category of a heavier tweener. The pure aero tour might have too high a launch...

    FS: Wilson Clash 4 1/4

I won the racket in a contest on social media. It was fun to have and hit with for a short time but I didn't want to keep it sitting in a closet as I prefer other frames. The new owner I believe will enjoy this frame much more than I would have.

    Optimal racket

What kind of string do you use? How often do you change strings? Answering these questions is as important as the racket question. Right off the bat, here are my recommendations: Wilson Blade 98 16x19 Wilson Burn 100 countervail Head Graphene 360 Speed MP Graphene Extreme MP on sale for 119...

Team Black Bear Tennis is official!

Hi @Black Bear Tennis Official I recently purchased a pack of Bear Claw 1.24mm from you guys and after hitting with it for a handful of 2 hr sessions I think I can give my 2 cents. For the record, I'm an aggressive topspin player who is around 5.0 NTRP and I didn't think much of the string...

Racquet recommendation for control and plow thru

I know how much this board loves the 93P and all but in my opinion, it sounds too discouraging and difficult for a beginner realistically. Just get a blade 98L or the prokennex ki Q Tour 300 (white paint on clearance) and throw some basic synthetic gut in like prince original synthetic gut 16 or...

    Hyper-G gauge and tension?

I would try 16L and possibly 16 if the 16L breaks too quickly. 50 pounds is a great tension! If you want something with a similar stiffness but more control, durability, and tension maintenance, I'd look at Luxilon 4G Soft at the same tension.

    Yonex Vcore Pro 97

I can say the Vcore pro 97 330 has a substantial power level when I was playtesting it with PTP 17. The vcore 95 seems to be a bit less just from what I can gather from everyone's playtests. String and tension obviously matter quite a bit here, but if everything's kept the same. I'd say the...

    Poly with good tension maintenance?

Try 16 g Volkl Cyclone in red or orange color, luxilon 4g soft if you're willing to pay the price tag, Head hawk 16 and technifibre red code wax 17

Better cross for gut: 4G or Tourna Big Hitter Silver

Haven't tried those strings in hybrids unfortunately but if the stiffness of 4G draws you away, I'd try 4G Soft! It's on my list of strings to try and it looks to be a nice middle of the road stiffness poly if that's what you're looking for.

    Poly recommendation

If you are looking for soft polys with good performance, I can offer some suggestions. My favorite shaped poly at the moment is Solinco Hyper G 16L gauge at say 50 pounds. Shaped polys are the name of the game and I don't think I could play my game without them lol. Hyper G is nice because it's...

Great Poly Cross for a Multi Main?

To answer your question, you will gain more power and comfort with the PPC in the mains and lose some control, as well as durability of the mains. I haven't tried that setup myself so I can't say anything about spin from my own experience but I like to imagine spin mostly comes from technique...

Pro Kennex q+ tour Pro 315

I'm sorry to say that I can't report on how it feels to play with quite yet but I'm right there with you as I'm very interested in how this racket stacks up to the 300 and 325-gram versions. What confuses me is the swing weight on the 315 because it's virtually the same as the 300-gram...

Current 'Heavier' Racquets with Wide Open String Patterns?

For the OP, I would recommend the new Graphene 360 Extreme Pro. It seems to have everything you're looking for on paper. Pure aero tour is also a great choice. Even the Pure Drive tour has a pretty open 16x19

    Diary of a Racketaholic

If you want my opinion on what to try, id try the ezone 98 with a couple grams at 3 and 9 and a good shaped poly like hyper g. Also try the prince 93p for sure I'm very tempted to try one myself just because of the enormous amount of positive feedback from non-mid players.

    Replacing Pure Strike Tour (2014)

For you, I would highly recommend the current 2017 Pure Strike 18x20. I got the chance to use it and give it a good run through. It's very stable while also being lighter in static weight. It has good spin and control while not being too stiff like your current frame. I would demo one of those...

Wilson Clash: New mould or old frame re-done?

I can see why higher level players would find the control lacking, I mean just look at the design. A 100 square inch racket with a thick beam, an open 16x19 pattern, and 6 mains in the throat isn't going to have nearly the same control as a true players frame. That being said, I'm sure it's...

Live by the Blade...Die by the Blade...

And obviously 1.25 strings will work for a little bit there's no denying that but they will degrade in quality faster.
  27. AgressivelyFrames

Live by the Blade...Die by the Blade...

That advice is verifiable. If you use 1.25 gauge or thinner string and hit with any kind of decent spin, that more open pattern will put a lot of extra friction on those strings, so much so that the durability is compromised. 1.3 mm thickness is ideal if you want a kind of lasting durability. If...

Is 2 pts difference in balance (3.5 hl /5.5 hl) between 2 of the same racquet too much?

lead at 12 for maximum swingweight and power/spin increase per gram increase lead at 10 and 2 for lighter increases in above categories. Personally, I'm starting to like this option better for general tinkering.

Head hawk touch in prestige MP?

I demoed this frame with that same string not too long ago. The other commentators are correct in that it plays pretty nice for the first few hours and then in my experience it becomes a bit stiffer and less playable. Never got a chance to break it but the snap back effect was still pretty good...
