2019 Miami - WTA Premier Mantadory - General Discussion

I know that almost all of the players are sponsored and are obligated to wear the gear. With the Nike sponsored players, why do we keep seeing matches where both players have the same attire? The new Nike line as a lot of color schemes, but yet we've seen two players dressed almost identical...

I like Sakkari, but she didn’t have a chance against Petra. BTW Good for Bianca, but I’m sure Begu has got to be feeling just awful.

Best Racquet for continual sore wrist

Might not be the answer you want to hear, but it sounds like she might just need rest. The other thing I thought about was to make sure she has the correct grip size. If it's too large/small that could contribute to wrist soreness as well. To answer the actual question I suggest the Clash.

Ok, I just saw that line up for doubles and Halep and Goerges are teaming up? They're up against Mladenovic and Babos. That should be a very interesting match. I don't think Jules and Simona have ever paired up before, I'm curious what initiated this team up.

Yes the paint job on this racquet is really soft. However, it doesn’t just fall off, you need to have scuffed it or something. I was playing doubles and my partner and I both swung at the same ball. Our racquets clashed (lol), my racquet has a nice size chip in it now. There are two very small...

I would say Julia, but I don’t think she’s going to make it that far. I think Sabalenka is going to take it all. She’s a really strong player with a killer serve. If she can keep her emotions in check, she’ll take it. @NaomiKonjuhPotapova who do you think will take it?

Am I the only one who doesn't notice much difference between strings?

I started with Wilson Power a synthetic gut power and then Wilson Revolve a poly. Now I only string with Luxilon Alu Power. I’m sure all strings have their pros and cons. Ultimately it’s up to the player to decide what feels the best for them. I can honestly say I did notice a difference between...

Do you let your racquet drop during the coin toss?

I’ve been meaning to ask this for a little while now. It absolutely makes me cringe when I see people spin their racquet for serve or side and then let their racquet fall on the ground. I don’t know about you all, but racquets cost way too much just let them fall to the ground. If I do a racquet...

    Wilson Racquet Recommendation

I played previously with the Wilson Ultra 100. Really enjoyed this racquet, the weight and power are nice. Comes in three different color schemes too. I had all three, but I always seem to favor the reverse (it’s almost an electric blue color). It’s a 16x19 string pattern with a nice sweet spot too.

One of the things that appeals the most to me about the WTA is the chance that anyone can win it all. I enjoy watching the well known players, but it’s great to see what happened in IW. In my opinion it makes for great tennis. I’ll be watching as many matches as I can.

I admire Nadal's fight and grit but I question continuing a match injured then pulling out in the next.

I’m pretty sure their share of the winnings and points earned increases the farther you go in a tournament. So I’m sure he pushed himself to get through to the semifinals. Not saying Rafa needs money or anything. He’s a competitor and an athlete, I don’t think he ever wants to concede unless he...

I like Kerber, her game, her sportsmanship, she certainly has a chance if she can stay healthy, but she's got a tough road with all the competition in the WTA.

What I've learned since I've stopped switching racquets and strings

That's a great self discovery when you feel comfortable with your racquet. I think a LOT of people want to believe that their game will improve if they just find the right racquet and string set up. The truth of the matter is, it takes practice, practice and more practice to become proficient...

    Partner problems..

I don’t understand why some people are afraid to just talk now a days. Communication is the key to almost all relationships.
