please tell me , how the hell robin soderling beat nadal in 2009 RG R16 ?

I don't know about that but without the mono ending his career he could've perhaps achieved something similar to Stan. He was only 27 and winning tournaments when he was forced to stop.

    ET Ian vs TT MEP

If we venture into the niche that is progressive rock listeners, Annie Haslam is extremely well known. Renaissance also had a fair amount of commercial success in their heyday. Great band too. Perceived popularity depends a lot on context. I can lament the fact that I love Morita Doji's (森田童子 )...

    ET Ian vs TT MEP

Why are we arguing about popularity anyway? I think people have a skewed perspective of how well known your typical #30-50 player is because if you live in country X, of course no average person is going to be able to name the top tennis player from country Y. But in the country Y itself their...

Where would number one woman rank on ATP?

Well yeah, but that kind of thing happens when the number 1 is dominant. Hikaru was #2 in classical at his peak yet he is 1-14 against Carlsen in decisive classical games.

Where would number one woman rank on ATP?

Judith Polgar though genuinely held a peak elo rating that was good enough for 8th in the world at the time. That's enough to suggest that a woman could one day be the best in the world in chess.

2021 Monte-Carlo Masters: Official Tournament Thread

Sure, Goffin stuffed a lot of break points, but he was supposed to be a break behind anyway so I think justice was served.

    Sweetest press conference ever!

I guess it makes sense that it was some kind of a communication mishap and the journos who would've had questions missed it due to not getting informed on the time early enough etc.

    Sweetest press conference ever!

Who requested a presser from him though? It's bizarre that he was requested but there were no questions.

ATP's most misspelled tennis player's name

To me it's strange that people struggle with these names with double consonants, but it's probably because those are very common in my own native language. Consonant clusters like those in "Srichaphan" are more difficult for me to remember.

Pros that played on tour without a "coach"

I remember Jarkko Nieminen played most (?) of his career without a travelling coach.

First set Roland Garros 2020, replace Djokovic with Sampras, what happens?

Yeah, I think what people miss here is that Nadal bageling Novak in that first set doesn't suddenly make it the most likely scenario to happen if you switched the opponent to any other elite player, including, say, just a slightly different Djokovic. It was a low percentage scenario that...

I think Barty should have lost I think he means she's short for a modern top tennis player.

The loss of ATP data, and am I the only person who cares?

http://www.tennisabstract.com/ has more of those types of statistics if you can understand how to use the site. It's not the most intuitive, but it has a lot of stats you don't find anywhere else.

    Is Ruusuvuori FINNISH?

It will be interesting to see if he can surpass Jarkko's career and become the most successful Finnish singles player. Jarkko got up to #13 and was spent many years ranked in the top 50, winning two ATP titles out of 11 finals. Ruusuvuori has shown good consistency and is steadily rising in the...

Who is 3rd best HC player in world now?

Yeah, but Zverev's recent track record prior to that title was less stellar than Rublev's.

Who is 3rd best HC player in world now?

I'd say right now you would otherwise give it to Rublev, but seeing that he just got demolished by Karatsev... Right this moment, it's Karatsev.
