Tennis Warehouse: Dunlop ATP Ball Playtest!

Totally agree, I hate both of them and really dislike when someone pops open a can of them before I can pull out one of propenn marathon or Wilson US open. The Dunlop championship were significantly better with a nice feel, nice predictable bounce, good rotation and nice control. They dont feel...

    Babolat PURE DRIVE VS 2019

I tried a demo of the new VS for an hour hit this morning. Unfortunately an hour was all the court time we found available. I thought it would be a jarring hit compared to my TC95. Stiffer frame, stiffer string and strung at higher tension. Demo had RPM strung up @55lbs. I string my TC95 with...

Tennis Warehouse: Dunlop ATP Ball Playtest!

Oh, I didn’t see this playtest so I didn’t apply but I was very curious about the new Dunlop ATP balls. I got a couple of cans of the championship and premium HD. I will provide my thoughts on both but I did try a championship can this morning for an hour hit. It is certainly far better on feel...

It sounds then that an 18x20 would suit your style. The difference in flex of TC95 or any other Angell frame for that matter is the uniformity of flex. The TC97 has a very distinct easily recognizable flex in the head since it is designed that way. TC95 feels like a more solid predictable head...

Keep in mind the TC95 is more maneuverable then TC100 so it’s not a problem with 320g/10HL spec. However 310g/9HL is also good and stable with a little weight as i described previously. I certainly tried TC95 in 18x20 pattern and it is still that awesome frame. Just as you’d expect there is the...

TC95 will give you more control and precision. Power is on tap, however you need to unlock it with good mechanics which sounds like you have. In other words, its not tweener power were you can just arm the ball and get power. I personally use full poly of at least 16g for a match to the open...

It seems to be this magic spot on the frame. just add little weight at a time till it feels right. I use some cheap electric tape to experiment with how much weight i want there before I apply my final weight with Tungsten. Start with 3g and add a couple of grams at a time.

Babolat Pure Strike 16X19 Project One 7 string help

A couple of very good polys out there that may surprise you on comfort and are a good fit for P17. Black zone is a round poly that is very comfy and slick so snap back is good. Tier 1 Black Night is a superb string that does everything well and very comfortable.

You try applying your weight 7” from the buttcap. Pretty easy and will offset some of the weight you added in the head and smooth out your swing. Give it try maybe you’ll like it

Forts are designed specifically for clay courts or at least the ones i see so different usage. But i would pick forts for clay court and hard courts ATP XD and Propenn XD.

    Dunlop New ATP Balls

Finally tried out myself the new ATP XD balls (not the ATP championship ones) and i liked them quite a bit. Terrific feel, nice bounce and played very consistent. I don’t know how durable they will be so will see if can get a second hit out of them.

Terrific string, really enjoyed it so much in TC95, however used the 1.28 gauge which probably doesn’t play as lively as the gauge you used. Start hitting big heavy strokes and control is quite good! As any poly i’ve ever tried, wish it lasted longer. It either breaks or starts dying around hour 8.

I can relate! Look at the picture and all my frames already have leather grips on them but still need some stash :X3:

V3 has a new method for the flow pattern in manufacturing called micro braiding. It created tighter tolerances and effectively seems to have kept SW more in line with target. It is lower SW then V2 also due to the PJ. The V2 PJ was heavier due to the grey patches and lettering

Yes, naturally it will. I said it a long time ago, it makes zero sense to keep manufacturing the same models in two different ways.

The power pads are just a signature of my stringer but in all honesty it doesn’t seem to make a discernible difference. I tried 1.35 gauge and liked it because i was trying to close space a bit in string bed and it worked. I got a better control and higher level precision.

    The Official Angell Users Club

Well they are both round polys medium firm so yeah it should be fairly close. Try it out and let us know! Hope you have the 1.35 so you can see how it tightens pattern just a tiny bit

I wanted to effect twist weight a bit but also have a bit more impact on SW so that’s why i went with 10, 2. I generally don’t enjoy weight to much at 3&9. I think it makes the frame hit a bit more with blunt feel. I generally add weight @12 or 10/2 depending on frame.

    THE CLASH equals TRASH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tried the clash tour strung with 4g. It was a demo my stringer wanted me to try. I hit with it for about 15m and put it down and simply did not want to hit with it anymore. Silly high launch angle, stringed is ludicrously open and a disconnected feel. I did not care for it at all.

He wants a TC100 310g/9HL so add to ASL a leather grip a couple of grams tungsten in the head and a couple at 7” and you’re there ;)
  28. topspn

    The Official Angell Users Club

Sorry, it means once a frame gets the handle added and a grip it will measure at a lower RA then when you string it will again measure a bit lower.

    The Official Angell Users Club

You have to remember the TC100 is quoted a 70RA as a hair pin. The ASL has a quoted RA 66 with handle and grip already on. Anyway, noting flimsy about ASL or for that matter the 63RA frames
  30. topspn

    The Official Angell Users Club

Yes, naturally you’d have to modify the ASL3 more but truly not a big deal. Add a leather grip, some weight in the hoop based on you preferences and weight at 7” spot and you’re good to go.
