Federer fan: I finally managed to accept the idea that Djokovic may overtake Federer

Yup, 20 Slams is really nothing. Murray could've won 10+ Slams if he didn't have Fedalovic to deal with. Nadal could've blitzed way past 20 if Djokovic hadn't stopped him. Federer could've had 27-28 if not for Nadal and Djokovic. And Djokovic could've had well over 20 if not for Nadal, Federer...

HELLO! World Exclusive: Rafa Nadal engaged to girlfriend of 14 years Mery Perelló

Nadal will be playing tennis for many more years and will continue competing for Slams. He's not going anywhere. And he'll continue stopping Federer and Djokovic from winning RG. LOL

Federer fan: I finally managed to accept the idea that Djokovic may overtake Federer

The Slam record will be broken eventually. Either it happens in this era or the next...or the era after...some great player will come along and clear the deck and dominate for 10-12 years and be super lucky that he won't have a real rival to stop him.

    Wimbledon scenario for Rafa fans

I think if Nadal wins RG, his season is successful.
  5. Mike Sams

Given his playing style and how he defeated Federer in the final, does it shock you that Nadal has won just 1 Australian Open?

Nadal also went down 2 sets to 1 in both those finals and had to use a lot of energy to push it to a 5th. He was probably near fumes by then while being unlucky that his opponents managed to hit the gas peddle in the most crucial times.

The important Wawrinka has had on the way things currently stand; damage he has done to Djokovic

Absolutely positive that Djokovic would NOT have blitzed Stan the way he did to Nadal in the AO finals. Stan would've put up an incredible fight if not winning it.

The important Wawrinka has had on the way things currently stand; damage he has done to Djokovic

that's all well and good but Stan also was a thorn in Djokovic's side in many of their Slam meetings. 5 sets in 3 consecutive AO meetings, 5 sets at the USO 2013, etc. Wawrinka seems to raise his game for Djokovic in the Slams.

The important Wawrinka has had on the way things currently stand; damage he has done to Djokovic

True that Djokovic is technically superior but the BH of Wawrinka when it's on is a formidable weapon which even Djokovic has trouble with because of its sheer power and weight of ball.

    Wimbledon scenario for Rafa fans

I don't think I see Djokovic winning the French Open. The favourite is still Nadal by a wide margin. I could see Djokovic losing to any number of players there including Stan, Tsonga, Khachanov, Thiem, Medvedev, Tsitsipas, etc. As for Wimbledon, that could also be a battle between Djokovic...

    Congratulations Djoker

Could be some surprises. Wouldn't be surprised if we see some upsets. Even Djokovic isn't safe from an upset on clay. Nadal should make the final if he's healthy. Federer could go out in the first week or he could go deep.

    Congratulations Djoker

Federer is playing the French Open this year. And I think he's going to take this one very seriously considering what's on the line. The draws will be interesting.

    Very disappointed with Nadal

Planning is one thing. Execution is entirely different. Their blueprint probably had them believing they were fully ready for Djokovic.
  13. Mike Sams

    Very disappointed with Nadal

And even that Canada match was a 3rd set tiebreaker. Their USO match had Djokovic reaching the final after a 5 set grueling affair with Stan in the SF.
  14. Mike Sams

Djokovic wasn't surprised at how easy it was to beat Nadal.

The fact that you picked Nadal with no hesitation was odd. You of all people? You're like the smartest tennis guy in the whole world!
  15. Mike Sams

Why did Nadal hit the ball so short if it gets hardly any kick on the AO surface?

Everyone has a plan till they get hit in the face - Tyson I guess the same applies whenever Nadal meets Djokovic

Djokovic wasn't surprised at how easy it was to beat Nadal.

Most of Nadal's wins came pre-2011.

Djokovic wasn't surprised at how easy it was to beat Nadal.

Well you certainly were dead wrong, weren't you? LOL Obviously fell for the hype.
  18. Mike Sams

Djokovic wasn't surprised at how easy it was to beat Nadal.

What's unsettling is that every time Nadal comes up with a new weapon or a new level of aggression which makes headlines across the tennis world and has people excited and calling him the new Rafa....it all comes back to the same old pattern of play when he meets Djokovic. He can't do anything...

Djokovic wasn't surprised at how easy it was to beat Nadal.

Nadal and his team will be happy again once clay comes around. Although if Nadal has to go through Federer and Djokovic both at FO, it could be really interesting.

We’re not sugarcoating anything: Nadal got torn to shreds.

I wouldn't say the action that Nadal puts on the ball affects everyone except Novak. Nalbandian, Davydenko, Murray and other players had the ability to handle the heavy topspin ball that Nadal hit but none had the other elements close to the level that Novak had. That being ridiculous defensive...

2019 Australian Open Men’s Singles Final (1) Novak Djokovic V (2) Rafael Nadal

What new serve? What new BH and FH? This was Nadal's worst performance against Djokovic in slam history. Fire Moya!

2019 Australian Open Men’s Singles Final (1) Novak Djokovic V (2) Rafael Nadal

15 pages...700+ posts...and the match hasn't even started. Seems like the Nadal/Djokovic rivalry has gotten people just as excited as the Nadal/Federer rivalry. Makes sense as every Slam being won nowadays between these 3 is historical. Djokovic either passes Sampras tonight and gets to within...

2019 Australian Open Men’s Singles Final (1) Novak Djokovic V (2) Rafael Nadal

Nadal returned from baseline against Raonic at AO 2017. It was a specialized gameplan to handle the big serve of Raonic. But Nadal in most matches stands very far back.

2019 Australian Open Men’s Singles Final (1) Novak Djokovic V (2) Rafael Nadal

Djokovic hit 100+ UEs against Gilles Simon in an error-ridden 5 set tussle and then went on to beat Nishikori, Federer and Murray fairly routinely thereafter.

    Starting to warm to Zverev

He's already a millionaire. The hunger is probably slowly dissipating for that reason and he's starting to see tennis as just a 9 to 5 job.
