    For Science!

G'day good sir, If you would allow me a quick second I would like to divulge some information that may be of value. Sir, my name is Tre-sixus Servanus, formerly known as Corn O. Cob, and I am here to inform you of your nomination into the Church of the Open Serve. Word of your forehand has...

shroud is trying to explain how you might have mistaken the grip for an eastern forehand grip. it is continental

yeah I see what you're saying but I find that i'm late a lot since there is an extra second spent picking my racquet back up

    Strategy is overrated.

so what you're saying is that it doesn't matter how long i spend on here debating about whether or not it's better to hit a running inside out forehand passing shot down the t or into the doubles alley i will never get better at tennis unless I go out and actually practice? pfff get out of here...

Why forehand evolved to the modern style by serve remain to be tradistional

yes but oserver has 270 degree pronation/supination wrist rotation and by observation has observed the forehand and serve to be in combination strokes that require acceleration and thus has had a revelation through countless hours of dedication comparing different iterations using linkedin...

Why forehand evolved to the modern style by serve remain to be tradistional

Then what is the parallel with the serve and the forehand if one operates on a horizontal axis and one operates on a vertical axis? Does the mechanics of a motion matter less than whether or not you're holding a racquet?

Why forehand evolved to the modern style by serve remain to be tradistional

Because they're different. Sure you could argue analogous but nowhere near parallel. Would you throw a ball open stance or hammer a nail in open stance?

    Crushing hard spin serves

I was just referencing that one dude who has been relentlessly posting about his serve revelation. Your serve looks pretty good as far as how the ball is traveling. Still trying to wrap my head around 90lb kevlar mains haha

Why forehand evolved to the modern style by serve remain to be tradistional

So your premise is that because something worked on your forehand so then it should also work on your serve?

    Crushing hard spin serves

Hello, I am of the Open Church of the Western Horizon. Have you considered giving your soul to the open stance open grip serve? Do not pay mind to the heathen of old for they will never experience the nirvana of a shredded rotator cuff.

Why forehand evolved to the modern style by serve remain to be tradistional

It's not that I don't tolerate it, I just don't want some new tennis player to log on here looking for some sage advice and be convinced that their technically flawed serve can be justified because someone else claims that an open stance semi-western grip serve is superior. Whether or not you...

Circular or spherical? Looks like you're still wasting away in 2 dimensions while I'm woke enough to see in 5 so nice try. Next thing that you're going to tell me is that I need to step through and punch my volleys like a T-rex.

Division of Labor and Delegation of Task In Tennis Strokes

I'm not trying to sound condescending but I just want to cover a few things real quick for my own understanding through question form. What makes Federer's forehand modern other than hitting open stance? Wouldn't his forehand be a compromise between traditional eastern grip forehands combined...

Division of Labor and Delegation of Task In Tennis Strokes

But they're fundamentally different movements. Sharing one or two traits along the chain of manifestation hardly gives any credence to the assumption that changes in one chain is a beneficial change in the other. Is an open stance backhand superior to a closed stance backhand?

Division of Labor and Delegation of Task In Tennis Strokes

No because the forehand exists mostly on a horizontal plane where a serve does not. While not completely one to one, the mechanics of a serve are pretty analogous to that of a ball throw. Do you see NFL quarterbacks or pitchers throwing the ball open stance? The modern forehand compensates for...

Division of Labor and Delegation of Task In Tennis Strokes

Back when I used to play high school tennis, my coach always had to remind me that there aren't any style points since I looked fresh af on the court but could never win a match. I did some 360 half volleys because they were necessary but I never thought to 360 on every shot. This is the...

Some HD footage of my hitting session yesterday. Please critique!

I'm not necessarily trying to keep my racquet face perpendicular at contact, but as I sped up my racquet/swing speed I noticed a lot of my shots were shooting long with not a lot of topspin. When you slow the video down to .25 speed, sometimes you can see that prior to impact as I start swinging...
