40 and over how to win with four courts

Might be nothing new, but just got an email from our Section Coordinator (Missouri Valley) that 40+ tie breaker rules are changing mid-season. The old GWP is gone, and D1 as the 3rd level breaker is effective, and will be used in post-season. Personally, I think a ranking order of...

    Worst Tennis Etiquette EVER

So what is the “rule” on #1? Let’s say I refuse to put up with my opponent taking the point after I call out. He decides it’s his point and starts to serve. I stop play and say we don’t agree on the score, as I called out. We find ourselves in a disagreement on the score, so then what. I feel...

40 and over how to win with four courts

Schmke - Regarding your comment on the tie-breakers above; I shared your confusion on the meaning of the Game Winning Percentage breaker, until this weekend. Copied from an email, keeping names out of it: Happy to share more details if needed, but the point of this post is to let you know the...

    Only 1 singles for Nationals 40+ :(

Apologies if already posted. I've been following this thread, and received confirmation from the Missouri Valley Adult League Coordinator that our upcoming 40+ Season would also be reduced to 4 total courts. When the official announcement was made last week, the wording was "interesting", and...

Why are USTA’s dynamic ratings a big secret?

Can someone share where the official USTA ratings are made available, once the new ones come out in a few weeks? On the USTA site, I've never seen anything other than 3.5C, for example. Thank you!

Week 7 (the last) of Nationals - 40+ 6.0/7.0/8.0/9.0 Mixed

7.0mx is very casual so far. SoCal and Tx may be excluded.

Week 7 (the last) of Nationals - 40+ 6.0/7.0/8.0/9.0 Mixed

I know the Mid Alt 7 team has an 11pm second match of the day. Ugh. MoValley was DONE at 445p for the day.

Week 7 (the last) of Nationals - 40+ 6.0/7.0/8.0/9.0 Mixed

Granted this is my first nationals, but given the “good” forecast, they better let us play full sets tomorrow. If not, something is very wwwrrooooonnnggg. As many of you know, a short set is unforgiving with a single break of serve. Oh, no adds as well.

Week 7 (the last) of Nationals - 40+ 6.0/7.0/8.0/9.0 Mixed

Weather is cooperating and the flights haven’t landed on the courts yet (but trying). Looks like the day will be complete without too much drama. Great crowds!

In their infinite wisdom, they have announced a start time of 1pm.

Someone has been proven correct. Rain, no tennis now.

Short format as weather is still suspect for rest of day.

Week 7 (the last) of Nationals - 40+ 6.0/7.0/8.0/9.0 Mixed

FYI, morning forecast has greatly improved. We are supposed to be getting word at 8a if morning play is on.

Correct, with no decision on Saturday - could be full sets! Outdoor if possible.

Captains meeting happening now. I believe it will be a game time decision, having accepted the fact the morning is a wash out. More details to come.

Week 7 (the last) of Nationals - 40+ 6.0/7.0/8.0/9.0 Mixed

Actually that is correct. Tennis math states all matches must be between 2 teams. Carry the 1 and you have 34 matches.

Let me brag on my wife a sec. Our third year playing tennis and this is her third Nationals trip (w3.0, mx7.0, mx7.0). Riding her coattails this trip! I shared how many folks on this board don’t think they will ever eat the chance, so we are very grateful for this chance!

Was this serve in or out?

By the way, you are able to pause the video (spacebar) and step frame-by-frame using the "." and "," keys. If the video had better quality (more frames/sec) then you could see more clearly. However, from my perspective the change in ball direction (hitting the surface), occurs while the ball...

    Inout.tennis a legitimate product.

    Dealing with constant bad calls?

Even better. Now you can start a new group and call it an “invitational” and lobby others to join knowing others will not be “invited”. Again, highly passive-aggressive, I know!

    Dealing with constant bad calls?

We use emails/groupme/etc. to coordinate signups for these types of open/casual play. The passive-aggressive side of me says, "whoops" they were inadvertently removed from the distribution list. If it's a "show up" format, maybe try and get a court time 30 min earlier and begin play without...

    4.0 still full of pushers

Not a long-time player, so take this as simply one perspective. "Pusher" to me is whenever I fail to release the racquet through the swing. If my arm swing is the same speed as my strings, then it's a push. As a player trying to improve (currently mid-3.5), I find a relaxed and released swing...
