Pietrangeli: "Federer is the GOAT, he is from another planet"

So everytime some random person says Federer is still the GOAT are you going to create new thread? Pretty obvious that this guy has his fave and is baised, and also out of touch with what's going on in tennis right now regarding prize money.

Stop the nonsense please - the only ATP player in the last 40 years who came closer than Djokovic in the CYGS chase was Djokovic himself

He did go to the AO once, but I'm pretty sure if he had won the 1st three Slams, he would have made that trip to Australia in December to try for the CYGS. Any player probably would. McEnroe even said if he had won RG in '84, he would have went to AO even though he didn't really play the...

Stop the nonsense please - the only ATP player in the last 40 years who came closer than Djokovic in the CYGS chase was Djokovic himself

Back then the AO was in December so Borg was losing at the USO so he wouldn't have had a chance to win the CYGS. That's what he means.

What is the GS totals of the Big 3 if Djokovic's and Federer's age were swapped?

Ok and back to the future...Novak has two RGs. The end. Lol. I don't know why you spend so much energy talking about what he wouldn't have won if he was born in "xxxx", or if he was the same age as "xyz". He's the youngest player in the OE to make the SF at all 4 Slams. The writing was on...

    djokovic berdych hardcourt h2h

Djokovic was in pure destruction mode that day. He showed mercy and gave Berdych those two games when he had championship points to double bagel him.

    djokovic berdych hardcourt h2h

I had no idea and that's damn impressive considering how dangerous Berdych could be on any surface when he's on.

"PLAYING THE OLYMPICS WAS A BIG MISTAKE" : Says former Davis Cup Captain on Djokovic

The Olympics was a waste of time and I was against him going from the beginning, but that didn't ruin his chances at the CYGS. Him being stubborn and playing the mixed doubles did. That took a lot of emotional energy out of him, where he went home with nothing, that he needed to win the CYGS...

This is probably the closest to the truth.

'DANIIL MEDVEDEV'S GAME'S ONE-DIMENSIONAL' - STEFANOS TSITSIPAS 'SURPRISED' AT WHAT US OPEN CHAMPION ACHIEVED

Man, this is what sour grapes sounds like. He's so one dimensional but up until now he has achieved quite a bit more than what you have. Maybe talk less and train more. This guy is really high off his own fumes.

Roger Federer reflects on Novak Djokovic's 'exceptional year'

But Nadal and Federer still had to play badly in order for the score to be that lopsided. Djokovic in the 2008 RG SF won 12 games in comparison to Federer winning 4. Somewhat routine in the SF but not destruction like the final which is the difference. The Wimbledon match of Djokovic and...

Roger Federer reflects on Novak Djokovic's 'exceptional year'

Pete won 8 games, Federer won 4 and Nadal won 8. Not only did they win not many games but they got dominated points wise. Those were shellackings. Djokovic won 13 in that Wimbledon match and 12 in the USO match, and he was closer points wise. Not quite on the same level. The one match that...

Roger Federer reflects on Novak Djokovic's 'exceptional year'

If Zverev and Medvedev were bums then what were the remaining players in Federer's draw in 2009 RG? None of them had won a Masters title while those two have won multiple. None of them had won the ATP finals. Both Zverev and Medvedev have, and none had made a Slam final while both Zverev and...

Roger Federer reflects on Novak Djokovic's 'exceptional year'

If it was the same, then Federer would have went into the USO with hype surrounding him trying to make history of winning all 4 in one year, being asked about it in every match, etc.

Roger Federer reflects on Novak Djokovic's 'exceptional year'

Federer was one Slam away from a non calendar one yes but Novak won it. It's not the same, no matter how you spin it.

Roger Federer reflects on Novak Djokovic's 'exceptional year'

So you jumped from Federer was 1 set short of the CYGS that I'm so glad Medvedev cut the Utronian extension cord? You're gonna have to troll harder to kill that Ultronian high. Even without the CYGS, Novak still has the best career of anyone in the Open Era. So will you take that any...

Roger Federer reflects on Novak Djokovic's 'exceptional year'

That's not the same thing. A CYGS is a progression from one Slam to the next. Once you lose at one of them, the progression is over. You can't just say he was one Slam away because if he had won the one Slam, you don't know if he would have won the other two.

Roger Federer reflects on Novak Djokovic's 'exceptional year'

Because after winning the AO, he always lost at RG. That's a lot of sets short of a CYGS.

Roger Federer reflects on Novak Djokovic's 'exceptional year'

Federer was close to winning 4 in a row twice (2006 and 2007 RG) but he was never close to winning the CYGS. That's where the issue lies with what he said.

Roger Federer reflects on Novak Djokovic's 'exceptional year'

Yea he said that at the end of it I think. He said something about 3 players doing great things in the last few years, or something along those lines, so it felt like he had to include himself in his response.

Roger Federer reflects on Novak Djokovic's 'exceptional year'

Same. Yea how can you be extremely close when you never won the 1st two? To me, I think it's hard for him and Nadal to have to give Djokovic full credit for some of the stuff he's done because they would be accepting the realization that he may be better because they didn't do it. It's like...

King Richard: movie about Richard Williams coming out soon

They did laugh their asses off. :D I can't blame them really but they all had to eat crow, and say this man was dead serious about what he talking about, and knew what he was doing. On the other hand, you have people like the OP who are caught up in their own biases and too enclosed in their...

They don't need to rehabilitate Richard Williams as anything. Lol. He said he was going to turn his daughters into tennis champions and he did. Everything else is your own personal opinion and we all have those.
