    Conspiracy against Djokovic

This whole "exhaustion" thing over the Zverev semi isn't even terribly plausible. Two of the sets were 6-2, the others 6-4. It wasn't as if there were three tiebreaks or similar. While Felix might well have been the easier option the way Novak was dropping sets he could well have lost one here...

    Laver Cup 2021

You will have a fantastic time. We get this every year - the threads become full of people telling us how much they're not interested in a tournament they can't stop going on about.

Is this the anger stage of grief or the bargaining?

    Laver Cup 2021

For those who are interested in the Laver Cup rather than telling us how uninterested they are (basically the story of every Laver Cup) Friday's line up is out Berrettini v Felix looks like the most interesting match-up. Shame we're not going to get Med and Tsits playing Doubles but maybe...

Stop the nonsense please - the only ATP player in the last 40 years who came closer than Djokovic in the CYGS chase was Djokovic himself

When someone actually does achieve it all this will be irrelevant which is a good reason to hope the person who does is currently about fifteen and not an embryo.

Roland Garros 2011 and Australian Open 2017 - Would you swap the wins if you are a fan of either or both for the DCS?

The only way I could buy this is that it's always felt like Fed played great tennis that year to end up with no Grand Slams. Just unlucky that Novak was playing at a godlike level!

Roger's interview in English https://www.blick.ch/sport/tennis/roger-federer-meldet-sich-zurueck-das-schlimmste-liegt-hinter-mir-id16846302.html And it seems he's off crutches which is good news as he said he was expecting to be on them for a "few weeks". So seems that the operation has gone...

    Laver Cup 2021

He was walking round Harvard yesterday so no sign that he's withdrawing. Also Feliciano Lopez is the alternate so I don't think they can suddenly bring someone else in.

Roland Garros 2011 and Australian Open 2017 - Would you swap the wins if you are a fan of either or both for the DCS?

No. If Novak takes the Slam Record then he'll have the numbers anyway, in that context Fed having the DGCS wouldn't mean anything. It's not worth giving up the heartstopping joy of AO 17 for that. If we assume that a new Rafael Nadal does not emerge it's likely that more players in the future...

Roger Federer reflects on Novak Djokovic's 'exceptional year'

OK, one more go. This seems to be the closest translation of what Federer said - remember he was talking in German so something may be lost. If it will happen that a player is winning the GS? So we can infer from this: the question was something like "Do you think someone will win the CYGS...

Roger Federer reflects on Novak Djokovic's 'exceptional year'

Go back to the question that was asked - in the context of "is the CYGS possible" then it's a fair answer. If it will happen that a player is winning the GS? I think the possibility is there for sure. I think we have seen with Rafa, with Novak lately and also myself that it is possible. It's...

Roger Federer reflects on Novak Djokovic's 'exceptional year'

I think we're ignoring the context in which Federer is talking here. He was asked whether it's POSSIBLE to do a CYGS. There are two parts to this : is a player capable of getting to four Finals in the same year -- is it achievable physically and can a player reach that high level of tennis over...

    Laver Cup 2021

Someone on another thread said that Alcaraz was out injured until October at least so even if he had wanted to play it wouldn't have been possible. I went to the event in Geneva and had a fantastic time - loved the matches, the atmosphere, the whole thing. And I can say I've seen Federer and...

    Federer News

Agree with the above - he's doing the interview to promote the Laver Cup (hence the car in the background of the video) so it's natural he would talk about it for 2022. Plus he probably doesn't want the headlines of "Federer aims to make it for Wimbledon" And a translation of the German...

Is Wimbledon in trouble? Interest-wise, level wise.

The interest level this year was very low but it was competing with England being in the Euro Final so it's probably best to reserve judgement. Raducanu will certainly up the interest on the women's side for the next few years.

You can change ONE match result from tennis history...

The problem with this scenario is, if the result was reversed we wouldn't know the pain ever existed. Fed would have one more title and a glorious end to his career but Djoko is more than likely to break the record anyway. As tempting as it is to reverse W19, the rational thing is to give Fed a...

You can change ONE match result from tennis history...

Tough one. McEnroe v Lendl 1984 French Open Final OR French Open Final '06 or '07 to give Fed a CYGS. Assuming you get to keep all other results the same?

Roger Federer: 'I'm always in advantage when I can S&V on fast court'

Always been puzzled as to why the secret ruler of the game has made such a crap job of it.

    Is Djokovic deserving of pity?

The Rolex commercial was a nice idea done badly. They should have just put a clip of everything that happened in Fed's career - good and bad - and made the message "what do numbers tell you about the drama of all this, the highs and lows?" Would have been more truthful and not upset anybody.

    Is Djokovic deserving of pity?

That may be different from the perspective of a player and a fan. When Federer was interviewed for the "Strokes of Genius" doc he was wincing when talking about FO 08 as if he was in physical pain. When he's spoken about W19 he's always been quite calm. I also heard him asked how he'd felt...

    Is Djokovic deserving of pity?

In which case I guess it won't be around so much once Novak has all the numbers. As you are apparently not on my Ignore list you presumably have not used it in a deliberately hurtful way yourself!

    Is Djokovic deserving of pity?

If you don't think the 40/15 thing is often used for the sole purpose of hurting people then I suppose you don't. Sometimes it's used as part of a general to and fro but very often it isn't.
  28. F

    Is Djokovic deserving of pity?

I think there's a difference between Nole fans celebrating it as a great win for Novak and those using it as a weapon just to hurt Fed fans. When it was being brought up on threads or videos where it had no relevance simply because someone had spotted a place where Fed fans congregate then it...

Maybe it will happen one day

It's hard to comprehend just how much she's dominating the media here in the UK at the moment. She's on the front page of the Times right now. I opened Tuesday's edition looking for a good account of the Men's final and it was relegated to a few paragraphs. If Novak had won the CYGS maybe he'd...
