The top ranked players in the world get the exact same coaching as 3.0 players

The exact same coaching? Bro.. have you ever had a coach and a hitter in your 3.0 lesson? LOL.

What's the regional rating range here?

People of above average physical fitness - like the two 4.5s in the video will continue to play 4.5 tennis is great conditions. Just because MEP couldn't beat Topher doesn't mean that Wannabe Pro won't. That's just bad handicapping. I think Wannabe pro would cruise past Topher if they had a...

    Swingvision users?

I feel like it low balls serves - and I think frame calculations give higher numbers then it does. But not going to spend the time to see if that is the case.. It does a decent job with just one camera I think. You would need to coordinate multiple cameras like playsight to get good numbers.

Is consistent depth more important than power?

Yeah I was working so hard at playing tennis in NYC... So much court time! So much practice. I played maybe 10 times a year in NYC - for 1 hour each - and I lived there 15 years.

Wait - weren't you going to play like MEP. Stick with that bro..

MEP vs ET Players - Original TT Epic

Meh. In a rematch on ET's court Sean stands a fighting chance. Any 4.0 stands a good chance if it comes down to tennis skill and is not a fitness contest.

    Swingvision users?

Seems pretty cool. I think it low balls serves some - but it looks cool to me. Gonna try it out soon.

Drop shots and lobs in recreational tennis.

I dunno some of us have jobs and such bro. All the time in the world.. Normal people don't have unlimited time for a hobby. Pros are getting paid to play - so they dedicate everything to being better at tennis. Amateurs are playing a few hours a week so they are best spent working on the...

5.5 vs. 5.0 - Good stuff to take away.

The problem with that theory is that he got beaten by Wisconsin 4.0s. Is it not possible the NTRP is not consistent country wide? Is it also not possible that players who rely on stamina and fitness to win - can play up in hot regions but would play down in temperate conditions. Certainly you...

Is consistent depth more important than power?

If you are doing it right - you are hitting at a pace that is decent with a comfortable stroke such that it sill goes in because of the topspin you add. The power you use is dependent on your body and your technique. As it is comfortable shot - it should be like at 6-7 out of your possible 10...

how deceiving is the lob serve

Overhead height needed is related to love of overheads. There are always balls that are high enough for an overhead that people instead hit with a topspin forehand. Call it sexist - but women like overheads a lot less then men.. So lob serve works fine for 3.0 women. Anyone else - they start...

Drop shots and lobs in recreational tennis.

Rec players time is limited. So time spent working on drop shots and lobs is not being used on serves and returns. Which shots actually matter more to win matches - serve and return. If you go through a match - hit solid first and a good second serve - and hit solid returns on every single...

Is there etiquette in free hitting?

You should cooperatively rally - it can be cross court and such - just rally balls though. For the people that feel bored - that's why they invented drills, tie breaks and actual tennis matches. Most adults are pretty anxious to play sets and such. So can't say this is ever a huge problem. i...

If you guys throw a tennis ball...

I think Chas has been replaced with an ISR serve algo as part of a strange alien experiment. Anytime a serve thread comes up - a post about slow motion and ISR happens.

If you guys throw a tennis ball...

Sad to say - I couldn't get it over the fence last time I tried it. I like to imagine that ball is too light - compared to a racquet. But never had the best arm..

Coach Jeff bashes on Coach Ryan’s signature concept

I'd argue the opposite. There is so much good tennis advice out there - its very hard to sell any secret sauce. In fact like a comedy movie trailer they are forced to give a lot of the good stuff away. No doubt Jeff gives you a more effective system of what to practice - but that's about it...

Coach Jeff bashes on Coach Ryan’s signature concept

I think you are right about this. Jeff's technique is more solid - and more modern. If your arm bends more then 90 degrees you lose power because he racquet will drop more behind your back then it should.. It's actually tricky to describe because your body will be rotating along with motion...

how deceiving is the lob serve

I think a tall player would love those serves.. I hate bending down to get those low bouncing pickleballs. Hope his 'great' serve takes off..

5.5 vs. 5.0 - Good stuff to take away.

Wow.. Two guys that can actually play tennis correctly.. It's a shame that all people care about here is some 4.5 pusher from ATL. Notice how both have pretty big serves. If you are not trying to add power to your serve - and you are a man. You are doing it wrong.

MEP vs ET Players - Original TT Epic

Heat means little - in desert areas you can play in pretty high temps - because you can sweat so effectively. But heat and humidity - the wet bulb temperature drops quite a bit. Wet bulb is the temp where people start to die from heat. The issue is that you cannot sweat effectively in high...

Coach Jeff bashes on Coach Ryan’s signature concept

Coach Ryan theory is not based on early racquet drop. LOL. It is a huge problem though and hard to fix! I do agree with his attack of the birthday hat though. If you look at good servers - most of them are getting a ton of power from having the racquet drop more back towards the fence and not...

Forehand Reference Point: "Imagine hitting the ball at the Throat of the racquet"

You can only play mental games in practice IMHO. Once you start playing competitively - if you think about some mental phrases you won't be able to focus as effectively on what you want to do on court. I try to picture how I want the ball to fly and where i want it to go. Even thinking about...

Yeah I suppose that makes a lot of sense..

Doubles strategy. What does "high first serve %" mean exactly ?

Basically what you want to do is pick serves that are challenging enough against the other team that they cannot just t-off on it - but are likely to give your partner lots of volleys. So aggressive kick serves or slice serves to the body or up the middle - that kind of thing. It's not really...

    Playing doubles is tough.

Absolutely. In doubles it's like you play 1/4 as much. You really want to have grooved strokes before you play doubles because you don't get a chance to work on anything. It's a totally different game. You would think oh its 1/2 as much you play. But its much less then that - because often...

MEP vs ET Players - Original TT Epic

Yeah and its not 110 this weekend. LOL. Like I said people will play if they have to. If you want to do a UTR tourney you will suffer through it. I think we can agree to disagree here. This is like when someone asks what you can bench on an internet forum - and everyone there can bench 300+...

MEP vs ET Players - Original TT Epic

You can claim this - but I been by West Lake Highschool (in Austin) - they have 12 really nice outdoor courts over there. And if you show up on a weekend that is above 110 - no one is there. It's super easy to get a court. On days where it is nicer - it is way more crowded. So sorry - not...

MEP vs ET Players - Original TT Epic

I think GSG would say you are wrong. They can handle it against a player who doesn't extend every point and run every ball down.. I live in Texas now - as I moved here from California (after spending most of my adult life in NYC).. I can say that I cannot handle it in the summer and almost no...
