    Hitting partner in NYC 7/15-7/18

Hey I'm a 4.0 ish player visitng NYC next week and looking for someone to play with on the clay at riverside park or central park (if they have clay?). If anybody knows of any way to also maybe find pick up games there that'd be great too, as the people I'm going with are a bit injured at the...

    Donald Young Wimbledon Jr Winner

Just because I disagree with Safin means I have no understanding of the sport? Like I said I spoke to quick about him being a bit of an idiot, but that doesn't mean his statements represent the entire consensus in professional tennis. Point in case- James Blake didn't even turn pro until he...

If anybody knows of any way to also maybe find pick up games there that'd be great too, as the people I'm going with are a bit injured at the moment. I'm a 20 year old guy, decent...

I didn't mean to jump the gun too much but I disagreed with Safin's statement and then didn't really elaborate until later, so my bad. But I do think he's not a smart guy to be laying ultimatums this and that about where people need to be in their career every moment of their life. Not that...

its NOT the racquet! or the strings!

yep, me too But seriously my game improved somewhat from switching from my old hammer 110 to a K95. But at the same time it's not like I can't play tennis with my old racquet almost as well. It probably feels a lot different to me than it might look to a bystander, so I get where this guy...

Was it IN or OUT? (Roger's complaint at Wimbledon.)

I know that. If you had watched the last one you would have seen they still had it set up for TV purposes only. NBC used it multiple times.

Was it IN or OUT? (Roger's complaint at Wimbledon.)

There's two debatable sides to this story. In favor of the out call, there was a time at the French that Hawkeye misjudged a call by about 6 inches or so. It was a big fluke. However, from all I saw at Wimble, it was spot on. First of all, Hawk-eye uses 9 cameras to compile the result, not...

    Donald Young Wimbledon Jr Winner

I'm not going to last here because I have a different opinion about a slightly ******** statement by a pro? Whatever, man. I just think all this junior hype is kind of ridiculous. What's going to be even more entertaining is when all the people who took that statement seriously give up...

Well baseball is my other favorite sport, and Julio Franco is still playing at 48. Maybe that's skewing my perception a little?

Seriously though, this age thing in Tennis is B.S. In every other sport for the most part, pros can play into their forties. Agassi his his peak right around 30, didn't he? This is what the ridiculous idea of turning pro at 17 comes to, retiring at the age of 26/27 because you've played too...

    Sensation is a terrible string

You know, i just picked up my new K95 with a sensation / BB combo last week. After playing all week, I thought the strings were playing weird, like they had lost their tension and balls were sailing a bit far. Now it all makes sense...I'm going to get it restrung tomorrow I think.

    does the reverse forehand exist?

It should be "does the perpendicular forehand exist", seen as how nadal"s racquet path is about 90 degrees from the grouns, and the ball traveling forward happens through some act of physics not yet discovered.

    One hand'ers, UNITE!.

It was great, I tried hitting a two hander again after smartly switching to a 1hb when I started playing again. It felt like switch hitting in baseball with the same results- weak bloopers. 2 handers suck! Bartoli shows up sometimes in my nightmares. 2 hands on both sides.....I shudder at...

This is bad for the sport......

Exactly. How is this rivalry boring, especially when each is repeatedly denying the other the career slam that they both really really really really want? They both want that French/Wimbledon title desperately and each year they face each other in those finals is going to be more intense...

    Serve speed physics question thingamajig

It was very noticeable change over a bunch of serves, not just between the 2 that were clocked. But like I discovered, acceleration itself has no momentum so my physics theory wouldn't work. Hell speed is only for bragging rights. I'm happy so far with the speed/placement of the new serve.

My 1H BH, Changed from 2H BH

I don't know if this in the thread or beaten to death already, but seems you could transfer a little more weight forward to keep a few of those from sailing long. Just looked you were finishing with your weight back on a few of them. But hell I do the same on mine sometimes.

How to get balls in your strike zone?

Let me start off with the fact I'm pretty tall (about 6'3 6'4 ish) and during practice when I get ball fed/rallied into my zone (waist and above) I can pull off some great swings. However, during matches, for some reason people tend to slice me and hit flat low shots all the time. This means...

    Serve speed physics question thingamajig

I'll re clock it after they get some new batteries in it and a get a better measure on how to calibrate it. I'll let you know what happens.

    Serve speed physics question thingamajig

Another potential thought, as it measured my intructor's serve (who used to have the record for women's at 119mph some years ago) in the 70's once or twice. She was using my K95 instead of her racquet but it still seemed really slow.
  26. T

    Serve speed physics question thingamajig

I'm beginning to think it may have just been the toss or spin. Seen as how there's no such thing as acceleration momentum, a ball going the same speed at the same place should have the same path with spin and such being the only variables. The only other thing that had made me think was that...
