Depressed Federer fans check in here

The only reason I can think of are his nerves being in pieces. He needs to hit it close to that line and send Novak scrambling on that side. I actually thought immediately after that point that in a match where he was really feeling the drop shot, that a drop shot to that side would have been...

What went wrong at 40-15 for Federer?

MP #1: Federer kicks a second serve out wide, which Djokovic manages to return straight at him. He then stabs a FH out wide. I think this was just a matter of luck with Djok’s return going so close to him. And even if the next shot went to plan and hit the line, it was anyone’s point if that...

Depressed Federer fans check in here

Honestly wish Wimbledon had passed me by to some extent this year. Like I’d booked a vacation this past week or something and didn’t invest much time in it other than checking scores. I’ll feel better by tomorrow but I feel like I lost a piece of my soul after those 5 hours (plus the Rafa...

Depressed Federer fans check in here

These are moments that he’s unlikely to get back either. If you’re 28 and go onto win 4 more majors.. you could say a match like that taught you a lesson and helped you win others. Unless Fed goes on to somehow win another 1-2 slams+, he doesn’t have that luxury. And even at that he had the...

What went wrong on the 2 MPs for Federer?

MP #1: Federer kicks a second serve out wide, which Djokovic manages to return straight at him. He then stabs a FH out wide. I think this was just a matter of luck with Djok’s return going so close to him. And even if the next shot went to plan and hit the line, it was anyone’s point if that...

Why a 5th set tiebreak in the final?

A normal tie break to 7 points also feels like we’re a little short changed after 24 games in the set. Feels like it should be to 10 or something to decide the whole championship.

For Federer's fans: Most devastating loss in his career?

How on earth did he throw those match points away so readily? I actually can’t remember the serve on the first one but Djokovic almost couldn’t believe his luck at his easy return on the second. Then the FH before he charged was nowhere near the line and left Djokovic with a litany options for...

Or just lose the game because Djokovic is a beast...

Wimbledon 2019 Final: Novak Djokovic [1] vs Roger Federer [2]

This is obviously the worst part of serving second in the decider. Anything like 15-30 and beyond from now on with the Fed serve and I **** myself.

Wimbledon 2019 Final: Novak Djokovic [1] vs Roger Federer [2]

I’m just talking about the fact that he could easily have won either/both of Djokovic’s sets. In other words he was unlucky to lose both. Your failure to grasp my terminology tells me you have no clue about the English language.

Wimbledon 2019 Final: Novak Djokovic [1] vs Roger Federer [2]

You thought losing 2 sets in a tiebreak having been the better player was the peak? Try losing a 3rd set on a tiebreak after a *5-2 lead.

Wimbledon 2019 Final: Novak Djokovic [1] vs Roger Federer [2]

It feels heartbreaking that I still see Djok winning the 5th relatively comfortably. This is his area, but Fed could easily have been already doing his walk around the clubhouse with his trophy right now.

Wimbledon 2019 Final: Novak Djokovic [1] vs Roger Federer [2]

Once somebody is up a break they’ve basically won the set in the bookies minds. Fed had become the marginal favourite after the 2nd also.

Wimbledon 2019 Final: Novak Djokovic [1] vs Roger Federer [2]

When you think about it. Federer outlasting Djokovic in 5 at Wimbledon seems just right for his last behest grand slam act. Doesn’t it? Fast forward 20 mins... 6-4 to Djok in the 4th

Wimbledon 2019 Final: Novak Djokovic [1] vs Roger Federer [2]

2-3 Fed. There’s life in the old Rog yet.

Wimbledon 2019 Final: Novak Djokovic [1] vs Roger Federer [2]

Feel like I’ve seen Fed with this demeanor many times when he’s behind and never seen him come back in the scenario. Just something in his face says “yeah I’ll give it a go but I better start thinking of my runner up speech”.

Wimbledon 2019 Final: Novak Djokovic [1] vs Roger Federer [2]

Think it’s safe to say at this point that this will be remembered as a match won/lost on Roger’s racket. If he loses it was certainly lost on his racket as he’d be closing in on 3-0 at this moment. (I know it may have gone differently after the first). So tight on that FH so often.

Wimbledon 2019 Final: Novak Djokovic [1] vs Roger Federer [2]

If Fed goes on to smash through Djok with a go-for-broke attitude the first set result could have been a blessing in disguise. Very early to say that in fairness.

What a way to bounce back (not Djoko’s literal bounce back)

Wimbledon 2019 Final: Novak Djokovic [1] vs Roger Federer [2]

This will be a massive blow for Fed to lose this TB. Been much better for the whole set and blew some massive chances. Could be quick if takes this.... 4-3 and MB as I type though..

    So......how does Federer beat Djokovic?

Those odds are really close for a tennis match. Also children should be supervised while using computers.

I’m a happy Fed fan no matter the outcome.

This. I don’t even understand how it’s a thing that people think Fed could hurt his legacy/grass legacy by losing today. By that token everyone should just retire as soon as they slightly regress and take the hint that it’s better not to play than to go deep in tournaments at an advanced age...

If Fed wins he is the 9th wonder of the world, if he looses he is too old!!

This is a load of gibberish. Exaggerative nonsense. Who said beating a 27 year old is meaningless? WHO? You’re making arguments up in your mind and pretending other people said them. Just because someone said one thing doesn’t mean they believe the opposite of another. Jesus. CLEARLY beating...

Djokovic approached the net more often than Federer today (24% vs 14%)

There is a severe tendency on here for people to be so close minded as to not even be able to understand the thing they are close minded on. Different points and arguments have different contexts. Of course Federer beating Rafa while spending most of his time on the baseline is something worth...

If Fed wins he is the 9th wonder of the world, if he looses he is too old!!

You kind of can though? Some people just can’t grasp this age thing. It’s like beating a dead horse. But isn’t it only natural that a near-38 year old receives more credit for a win against people much his junior, and more leeway for a loss against said opposition? As for people that don’t...

If Djokovic wins the final, he'll become grass goat contender

Ok. You literally made a specific point, and then ran away from it as far as you could.

If Djokovic wins the final, he'll become grass goat contender

What? Try staying on your own topic. You were talking about 2014 and 2015 and how that is roughly Djokodal’s age now. Insinuating that Fed should have won if they are winning this year. His competition was far stiffer those years. Don’t just change the argument so childishly just because you...

If Djokovic wins the final, he'll become grass goat contender

They also didn’t have 2 of the best players of all time 5 years their junior and in their prime in the way.

Can we agree now that Nadal is way past his prime?

Of course he is. So is Federer. This pointless thread stinks of excuses
