    The Official Angell Users Club

    What's the general recommendation for someone coming from a PS85/90? I was thinking TC95 330/305/63 16x19?

When is the time to upgrade to a heavier racquet?

You've probably heard it or read it before but you need to demo. If 300g still feels too light to you then go ahead and demo heavier sticks than that. If you feel that it is your racquet that is causing your arm problems then the right time to switch to a heavier racquet is sooner rather than...

    Give 'Em Enough Rope . . .

Step towards the middle near the T. If the next ball clears the netman going crosscourt, you step back over to cover the line.

    sticking to one racquet model

If you want to get more serious about your game then yes you should stick to 1 only. As to which one, that is entirely up to you.

Nat gut better value vs multis for string breakers?

I wouldn't necessarily consider myself a string breaker, as in it takes anywhere from 2-6 weeks for me to break a string normally. But gut definitely lasts longer than the multi's I've used. From my experience, dollar for dollar, multi's will be cheaper if you string yourself. But that doesn't...

Iso-speed Professional Classic vs. Control Classic

    Correct. Same string different gauge.

    Do You Really Need Poly?

I handed my freshly strung k90 with 16g syn gut at #52 to a former 5.5 college player. He broke my strings within an hour of hitting with me. :(

Lead Placement: Odd Arrangement? or Pro Placement?

Looks symmetrical to me. I've put lead on in a similar manner, but with much less lead.

    Do You Really Need Poly?

If you aren't able to break a syn gut within 5 hours of hitting, you don't hit hard enough to warrant the use of poly. This means most people should not be using poly, but they do anyways. This is my opinion anyway.

One refers to herself "I have an attacking style" when her game consists of hitting

Yes, she plays an attacking style. Whether she is good at a particular stroke or not does not change the style that she is playing which is taking hard risky shots from the backcourt.

How do i get more power!?

"groundstrokes are a tad slower than id like" Sounds like a problem of technique more than anything. Lowering tension will give you more depth but not increase speed. Same with switching string type. Adding weight to your racquet will likely slow your swingspeed down, which is opposite of what...

    PS85 or BLX PS95?

And you are somehow trying to tie that into getting your ass kicked because of using an 85 frame? As if magically you used a 100 instead of an 85 you would beat that same player? Sorry, but it doesn't work that way. If you get your ass kicked with the 85 you are going to get your ass kicked with...

Racquet reviews: just tell me how it feels

This is why you should demo it yourself. Even if someone tells you how it feels, your perception will be different from theirs anyway.

I like a nice open string pattern. lol

    Racquets vs Rackets

I just figured the difference was like theatre vs theater and other likewise spellings. That is to say, there really is no difference and both are acceptable.

    PS85 or BLX PS95?

Such a horribly overused and misapplied argument. Nobody here has to deal with "today's topspin" because nobody here plays against the pros. As far as which racquet to get, nobody can tell you one way or the other which racquet would be best for you. Only way to know is to demo them both and...

    Cold Weather Affects on Strings

I hate cold weather. Feels like I'm playing with a crowbar or something.

How do I make a Pro Kennex 5g grip smaller?

I'd say the best thing to do would be to sell those and buy new (or used) racquets with the right grip size.

    Wilson Pro Staff 6.0 85

Played a match with the ps85 today. First set lost 5-7 (choked, I was up 5-2), 2nd set used my k90, won 7-5, 3rd set back to ps85, won 7-6 (1). It felt like with the ps85 I had to stay on the offensive all the time. And the offensive potential seemed a little better than the k90. But if I...

The strings in the demo are nxt tour 16, and I'm pretty sure they string it at 57lbs. By comparison, I have my k90 strung with isospeed professional at 61 and it feels insanely softer.

    Wilson Pro Staff 6.0 85

Played 4 sets of singles today. 1st set with ps85, won 6-0. 2nd set with k90, lost 4-6. 3rd and 4th set with ps85, won 6-3, 6-2. In the middle of the 3rd set my hitting partner commented that my serve had much more spin and pace (mirroring what the other guy said). From what I noticed in this...

    Wilson Pro Staff 6.0 85

From what I noticed from my perspective was the balls themselves coming off the 85 were a little flatter and more penetrating through the court. The k90 were more loopy with good margin for error. I'm not sure if I play better with either racquet. But I do think I have to adjust my style to...

    Wilson Pro Staff 6.0 85

I decided to give the ps85 another demo. 1st half of warm up was with the ps85, 2nd half was with my k90. Played the 1st set with the k90, won 6-4. Played the 2nd and 3rd with the ps85, lost 3-6 (1 break), won 6-3 (1 break). I asked my hitting partner for his thoughts on how I played with...

Need A Suggestion Of A Tennis Gift

I wouldn't get someone strings. Most of the people I know are pretty particular about their strings. Plus she already said she didn't like gut when she tried it. Gift certificates are nice, but doesn't show you put a lot of effort into something. I'd go with some kind of apparel, bag or both.

Should I have just *ONE* racquet??

Unless you want to be that guy who borrows someone else's racquet just to keep playing when you break a string, I'd say 2 is mandatory and the minimum. When I first got my k90 I thought I'd just get 1 and use a backup racquet whenever the string broke to save money. That was until I was playing...

    Wilson Pro Staff 6.0 85

The ps85 was 360g 10hl 325sw. My k90s are 356g 9hl 329sw. Perhaps I am just used to the k90. I have been using it for the last 3-4 years or so compared to a week of the ps85. But I certainly didn't get the impression that it was noticeably easier to play with. I felt like the sweet spot was much...

    Wilson Pro Staff 6.0 85

Yeah when I use the ps85 I feel like I really have to get at it and use my legs a lot. Once my legs stop cooperating all my balls start landing short and then it's all but over. Also, the ps85 demo was 4 grams heavier than my k90 which is already pretty much at the maximum weight I can handle...

    BLXPS90. Pretty Nice.

Agreed. I still fail to see the point of making a thread with absolutely no substance instead of waiting until he actually had something to write about. Was it some kind of competition to the other thread? In any case, the other thread provided me with enough information about the psb90 to know...

    Wilson Pro Staff 6.0 85

It's not that I don't like the ps85. I do like it actually. But it had become apparent to me that I play better with the k90. By comparison, I also demo'd the blx90. It only took about 5 minutes of hitting to determine I didn't like it.
