What's the title of the video (I need to use a proxy :s)?

What aspect of Sampras' game made him such a weak opponent at the French Open?

Yeah he was about average. He actually had a decent record at RG too until '96 (made a few QFs and the lone semi).

Rogi is winning WTF this year

I would say Federer is sure to beat Ferrer but he could lose to any of the rest. As a Federer fan, Berdych scares me because he can overpower Federer. And Cilic also obviously showed he can do the same. At least with Djokovic, you feel like Federer can dictate play (though he would be the...

What aspect of Sampras' game made him such a weak opponent at the French Open?

It's not that Sampras couldn't beat good players on clay - he just didn't have it in him to string together 7 consecutive 5-set matches on the surface. In that he's similar to Andy Murray who has come very close to beating Djokovic/Murray on clay - but he's vulnerable against a lot of other guys...

Rankings scenarios for YE#1 in 2014

Is there an "official" YE no. 1? It's just the player with the most points at the end, right? And that could be the guy who has the most points after DC. But if there is an "official YE#1" then I have the same questions as you...

Can anyone help me select a racquet that's similar to Head's iPrestige?

Interesting. I personally feel comfortable with the "Head" brand, having played with it for about 8 years now. But I would give the Tour G a shot if I had access to it. Thanks for your feedback. Alright I will see if I can try that. Thanks for that insight!

Can anyone help me select a racquet that's similar to Head's iPrestige?

Yeah it cracked. Hmm other people also seem to be suggesting the same racquet. I unfortunately don't have a place I can try racquets in Pakistan but perhaps I can find someone who has those sticks. Thanks for the tip! Hmm my brother has the standard size Prestige (the one after...

Can anyone help me select a racquet that's similar to Head's iPrestige?

Thanks Hankestein - I hadn't really considered buying second hand racquets, but if I can get a couple that haven't been used much then might as well. What does pro-stock mean? Is it the exact same racquet or just similar? Anyway, I will try to find out more about it.

Can anyone help me select a racquet that's similar to Head's iPrestige?

I have been playing with two Head iPrestige racquets since 2006, one of which met its demise a few weeks back. I am afraid the second one's about to retire as well, and so am looking to buy replacements. Unfortunately, these racquets are no longer in production, and so I need advise on what...

The official "I cringe whenever" thread....

2010 or so onwards, I cringe every time I see Federer attempting to come over his backhand over and over again. He usually can't keep more than 4-5 balls in play at a time. I think that's the biggest reason for his decline. In his prime he used to go toe to toe with the likes of Agassi and Safin...

    Federer's forehand

I don't think it's atrocious. It may look that way to you if all you do is watch his matches played between 2004-06 but the game has changed. In any case I think he's hitting it really well compared to how he was hitting it against Wawrinka.

Worry on the warm up courts for Novak

:) He has stepped up since you posted. The forehands have been more penetrating - he has been taking the up the line earlier and the running forehands have not been bad either. I cringe though every time he hits more than 3-4 topspin/drive backhands in a row.

Slice, how are you enjoying Federer's backhand today? Some great slicing, no?

Is Nadal the new Edberg at Wimbledon?

Lol I understand the sentiment behind your post but their (factual) records are obviously comparable. And I think that despite Nadal's vulnerability on fresh grass, he has a pretty good game for the surface (as it plays now). He uses the slice fairly effectively, his serve skids off the...

Is Nadal the new Edberg at Wimbledon?

Good point. Edberg's decline was almost inexplicable. Until January 1994, he was a regular on the last weekends at majors, and after that he never made a semi again. In fact he only made one more QF - at his last Slam at the US Open in 1996.

Is Nadal the new Edberg at Wimbledon?

Edberg lost to some great players at Wimbledon as well - Becker in his prime; Ivanisevic playing out of his mind; Courier in the zone; Stich the year he also beat Becker to win the title. Also one can't discount that from 1987-1993 Edberg was a threat to win every Wimbledon, and got to at...

Is Nadal the new Edberg at Wimbledon?

Lol thanks for your kindness. I agree that Nadal's chances are dwindling in the sense that it will get tougher for him to win each passing year. But if he gets a kind(er) draw, I can easily see him winning the tournament. Murray is one of the best grass-courters around but he has made a...

Is Nadal the new Edberg at Wimbledon?

Perhaps mentally it will be quite tough for Nadal to reverse the trend and physically it won't get any easier either. But he definitely still has the game. I was impressed by what I saw at Wimbledon. There are only a handful of players who can beat him in my opinion once he gets past 2-3 rounds...

Is Nadal the new Edberg at Wimbledon?

I am sure at least some of the older fans have noticed that Nadal and Edberg have very similar records at Wimbledon. Both of them put in stellar performances for 5-6 years while winning twice before making a habit of succumbing to lower ranked opponents in the early rounds. I think the...

Is it fair to call a foot-fault without prior warning?

I realize I should have warned him before calling a foot-fault, but this guy was no angel: he argued against having a line-judge; argued that he wasn't foot-faulting though he changed his tune when told that there was video footage of his flagrant foot-faults; argued that he should be handed a...

Is it fair to call a foot-fault without prior warning?

Yes, I should have done that. Or I could have raised the issue before the match as my opponent repeatedly pointed out after the match. I didn't think he was entitled to that courtesy, but it would have been nice of me. So the next match, when I happened to play his cousin, who is...

Is it fair to call a foot-fault without prior warning?

Thanks much for the response, everyone. I am sorry I am responding late - I had completely forgotten that I had posted about the issue over here. Yeah he was called twice during the remainder of the match, which included two service games from him. I think that, though he adjusted well, it...

Is it fair to call a foot-fault without prior warning?

I had a match last night where my opponent was flagrantly foot-faulting. To my discredit, I didn't call him out on it until 4-4, Ad-In (we were playing a pro-set). The serve was not hit very hard, and I casually blocked the ball on the other side of the court and called a foot-fault. While I...

Federer vs RNadal - 2009 French Open final - who wins?

Federer looked as good at Wimbledon 2008 as he ever had. He didn't drop a set until the final and if I'm not mistaken didn't face a break point against Safin in the semis. He looked really good until then! His only problem was that he had lost to Nadal 3 straight times in 2008, and been...
