Anybody still using a "Classic" racket (1990s and earlier) as their main racket?

Up until about 3yrs ago my every day, go-to, match racquet was the Pro Staff 6.0 95. Nothing felt better and it's still what I judge anything else I play with against. Following an arm injury I switched to the DR98 and it's beautiful. A worthy successor, but I still hanker for the 6.0. I even...

    Fastest serving racquet?

In addition to the racquet, I would say probably the best way to increase speed is technique, and everyone's different. Although there is no magic wand for saying how to do it, technique, momentum, ball toss, conditions (weather, temperature, indoor/outdoor etc), the racquet is only a part of...

    Fastest serving racquet?

Yup, I'd agree on the Diablo too. Lovely stick.

    Fastest serving racquet?

Prince Thunderstick from the 90s worked for me. Couldn't do anything else with it as was an absolute plank, but serving was God-like. When I was in my prime 20 odd years ago I'd regularly do 100mph+, my fastest recorded (indoor) was 126mph, using a Pro Staff 6.0 95 (10pts head light, about 340g...

Best wilson of all time ?

I'm going to ignore the 2000 onwards parameter. The best Wilson, hell the best racquet ever made is the Pro Staff 6.0 95.

    That's the one.

    New Babolats in 2022?

Strike VS I think. I'm sure I've seen a picture of one of Facebook. Darker in colour/design. Can't wait to try the only Babolat worth picking up and using. All the rest should be used as landfill.

Post Pictures of your Racquets and Tennis Gear

Are they 95s? I used to use nothing else from mid 90s to well past 2008 or so until an arm injury forced me to change. I used one in match recently and it was just wonderful. Pro Staff 6.0 95. The best frame ever made in my opinion.

I think this looks great and plan to get at least a couple, all the specs look really interesting and the design looks great with the black & teal/green. Lets hear your thoughts, pre-release and after getting one (or more)!

    Thanks!

    New Ezones??

Sorry if this has been asked before elsewhere, But i've had an email from a UK retailer offering the current Ezones on sale. No 98 but all the others. Usually this means the next one is imminent. Anyone know any details please? What's the usual lifecycle of a range, about 2yrs isn't it and the...

    Do you modify your racquets?

As far as adding lead, I think I may be the only one at my club, and although there are a few nerdy types like me, I don't think anyone else does. Changing grips from what comes with the frame yeah maybe some others, but as far as doing anything else to it, I'd bet it's just me.

    Donnay Pro One International

Just a paintjob of the previous purple/grey/red one. Don't remember any pro ever using it, maybe Rusedski at a push as he was sponsored by Donnay around that time. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm no expert.

    Dunlop cx200 16x19 users

To be honest I haven't checked what else is in the handle. I'll have a look later! Some time ago I used to use the MuscleWeave 200 and then moved to the Slazenger Pro Braided, both designed by our good friend Paul Angell! This CX is very nice but not enough to tear me away from my DR98 . . . .

    Dunlop cx200 16x19 users

I have one of the official Dunlop Demo ones that I bought off Jonas (TennisNerd). He added some lead at 3, 9 & 12, and other than changing the grip I've left it at that, and it's lovely!

    Yonex racquets ?

I switched to Yonex a few years ago, and although being a racquetaholic, I can't see my ever using anything other than my DR98 as my go-to match racquet. Awesome sticks.

Is my racket past its expiry date?

My good Lord, you're absolutely right!! I do apologise for my rapid-fire, knee-jerk hatred of all things Babolat! I just saw the yellow & black and went off on one

Is my racket past its expiry date?

The only thing wrong with it is that it's a Babolat . . . . EDIT: it is not a Babolat, repeat NOT a Babolat. My apologies everyone . . . . Thank you Roads_to_tennis for pointing out my mistake.

    Heaviest Racket you ever tried

I started when I was 7 so would've been 1980, we were taught to use a single handed backhand, and I had a wooden Donnay Borg something or other. That was pretty heavy.

How much would Agassi have accomplished if he didn't have a tyrant father?

I've played since I was 7, started because my parents wanted to do the weekly shop in peace for an hour without me pestering and being a nuisance, so I was sent to coaching. I grew to love the game, got better and ended up gaining my coaching qualification myself. I've always said that any child...

What head racket lines should go?

Instinct is going. It's being replaced by the new 'Boom' line. Radicals & Speeds will always be popular. Prestiges although not used so much on tour these days are still great frames and popular with us nerdy type folk. Gravity, although new offers some degree of change and a shift to these new...

    Another New Head Line ??

Great thanks. Very helpful. I hadn't heard/read anything but I have been on holiday so out of the loop all things tennis for a while! Cheers. Boom? That's awful . . . . Name change definitely needed.
